Poor poll options. "Preference" implies one or the other so it really doesn't make sense to have an option for both.
EDIT: I should probably take this time to talk about how to design a poll for future reference. Poll options should be exclusive and exhaustive. Exclusive means that it should be impossible for multiple poll options to be true simultaneously. So, a choice of option A would totally exclude options B, C, and D. Exhaustive means that all possibilities must be accounted for. Here's an example:
Do you like the taste of chocolate?
A) Yes
No
C) I've never tasted chocolate
The poll options are exclusive - it's only possible for a person to fall within one of these categories. The options are also exhaustive - it's impossible for a person not to be described by one of these categories.
A poll must follow those two principles in order to draw any statistically valid conclusions (which is the whole point a poll). Obviously, the other consideration is to the set for which you can apply those conclusions to, but that's another topic.

Tickets sell for around $300 on ebay, so the price doesn't match demand. Most people that reach checkout buy the maximum number of tickets because even if they can't use them all, they know they call sell them for a profit. -

I can't stand having mercenaries in hell. Short of not having them in the game at all, I am glad I'll be able to experience them without having it ruin gameplay. -

All I saw was:
Normal difficulty only.
What the fuck is your problem, Blizzard? You do -everything- right, and then fuck it up right there in a single strike.
I'm not playing your fucking coop and your incentive just pisses me off as a single player guy.

Apr 14, 2011Eso posted a message on Randomized RandomizationI'm a fan of static outside areas, assuming that they are the main mechanic in which players progress through the game, one act to another. At least I will know where to go if I have to run through the damn game with every character. I like how it makes sense thematically in terms of the overall layout of the world as well. I hope they have found a good ratio between static areas and random content.Posted in: News
Diablo 2 had way too much traveling involved. Most of the time you were more concerned about getting to the next area than enjoying the area you were fighting in. So long as they don't repeat that mistake, it's all good. -

Feb 7, 2011Eso posted a message on The Death of Your Followers (and Attack Rating)I like how there is no chance-to-hit statistic that you have to pump in order to be effective. However, I really think there should be a chance-to-avoid attacks (dodge, avoid, blocking, etc.) with the focus on player characters. Instead of being a function of your character, it's a function of your opponent. In that way it feels not like a deficiency of your character (that you're expected to improve to be effective), but a strength of a particular target.Posted in: News
It's an important distinction between the archetypes of the barbarian on the monk. The barbarian is a tough thug; the monk is a skilled martial artist. The barbarian can take a lot of hits because of his armor and bulk. The monk, on the other hand, blocks, dodges, and counter-attacks but he can't take as many blows. Considering the fact that the barbarian can use shields, I have strong concerns about how these characters are going to be distinct in terms of their defense. I will be disappointed if the monk and barbarian both rely on balancing vitality/armor(/defense). Since the barbarian is likely to have more of both, where does that leave the monk? What's the point of having a character that is a martial artist if he gets hit by every blow and has to rely on armor to mitigate that damage just like the barbarian?
What I am hoping for is:
1) the monk can block with or without a shield
2) a mechanic representing something to the affect of "agility" that rolls blocking, dodging, etc. all into one inclusive percentage (let's replace the defense attribute, shall we?)
3) critical hits can not be avoided or blocked - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

So each time we clear a particular area in new games it will always be the same (specific) enemies?

A melee-ranged spell doesn't make it a melee attack. Most of what is described in this thread is a tank mage, not a melee mage. You'll be using items with "enhanced spell damage", not "enhanced damage" like the barbarian or demon hunter will be using.

What makes a follower so critical to playing single player?
1
Step 1: Introduce followers.
Step 2: Watch at 1:18 as the "Templar" tanks 8 Khazra as the Wizard spams magic missle from the sidelines.
Step 3: Imagine how that battle would play out without the follower.
The end.
What a joke. I can't believe people are happy about this. I created some fan art to celebrate this monumental announcement.

Does anyone have an idea of how many cycles per second modern game engines run at (not to be confused with frames per second)? I can't find any information on this whatsoever.
