Mar 22, 2011Apoc posted a message on Rune Swapping Restrictions PollPosted in: NewsQuote from FingolfinGR
That could actually be a pretty good way to do it. Of course it would mean that at higher levels (high rune ranks) you'd have to visit the Mystic cause those runes should be quite expensive.
True, although at high levels I don't see players swapping runes as much since you have so much of your other talents invested into supporting your build. At that stage in the game, making large changes should come at a large cost. -
Mar 22, 2011Apoc posted a message on Rune Swapping Restrictions PollPlayers should be allowed to remove runes at any time out of combat, but in doing do it gets destroyed. The Mystic will be able to carefully remove the rune so players can save it for future cube-grades.Posted in: News

I belive its a 2v2. The blue circle on top I belive is an arcane hydra. It's shooting out arcane bolts (I'm assuming that those arcane balls are being spit out from a hydra) But thats just my opinion.
The blue circle implies it's the blue team's spell. See what I'm saying? -

Possibly not pictured or dead. Or it's red team's Hydra and blue teams unknown spell up top. I think it's a blue team Hydra because it's dead center to the indicator ring thingy. -
Mar 21, 2011Apoc posted a message on Seventh Batch of Screenshots and ArtHmmm, I'm having trouble trying to find out what blue team (Witch Doctor or Barbarian) spell/effect is being cast on the top of the PvP screenshot that has the indicator reticle as large as that. If it's not Witch Doctor or Barbarian, then it almost certainly looks like a blue team Hydra, which means there's a Wizard on the blue team too that's not in the picture. It also means that they increased the size of the indicator reticle for Hydra from what we saw at Blizzcon 2010 and presskit videos.Posted in: News

It's Daft Punk and some of us do appreciate it thank you very much  -

The separation of PvE and PvP will probably upset some people, but I have to admit I love it. I do hope, though, that the PvP enthusiasts will get some more room to play around in. The arena I've seen so far seems a bit small. Especially if the character movement speed will be increased by any considerable amount.
I thought it seemed small at first too, but the reality is you don't want to spend minutes trying to find your opponent. D3 isn't going to be a game of complex preparation tactics - you have to just jump into the fray, and I think that's the message they are trying to keep with small arenas. Even in that small space, it felt like there was plenty of maneuverability for those who were skilled at it. I got kited around many times trying to chase down Wizards - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Aww.. where's home for you?
Going home for Thanksgiving break always felt like a hassle to me. Instead I spent my 4-day weekend playing Aliens vs Predator with a bottle of Black Label.

Indeed, and fortunately we will have Skill Runes to address that aspect, which kind of steals the thunder from +skill items... I'm really hoping they don't do +skill equipment.

The 5/10/15 progression was mentioned at one point by Bashiok, but he later retracted that statement, so up until now there has been nothing official regarding progression other than starting with a 5pt cap. It's hard to say where that 20pt cap will take hold, but it to me it sounds like +skill on equipment (much to my chagrin). We also have to look at where those skill points are going to come from - if you take an arbitrary 68 skill points (59 from leveling, and +9 from quests) and you max out 2 skills, that only leaves you with 28 for 5 other skills, which is a really thin spread. I think a 15pt cap makes more sense with +skill items or maybe even a bonus quest reward to increase that cap to "Potentially twenty".
Edit: it also occurred to me that we might see a passive trait that will allow each class to pick one or two skills they can increase the cap on.

We have some of these explained in our wiki, for example: http://www.diablowiki.com/Molten. Linked basically means all the monsters in the pack share health, therefore any damage gets "split" amongst them. Molten is kind of like the new "Fire Enchanted" where mobs can spawn pools of lava underneath the player's feet. Teleporting behaves a little differently in D3 from what I've noticed in the videos - if the monster is ranged it uses it to create distance; if the monster is melee it uses it to close distance to the player. Obviously this gives the opposite range type a much harder time.

The original videos are from what looks like a playable demo at the G-Star conference in South Korea. The originals are split into 3 sections on youtube (1 part solo play Wizard, and 2 parts Demon Hunter). While I don't like to reference bootlegged content, the videos do reveal some details that were not as clear from the press kit content, so search for them on youtube.
From what I noticed, it appears to be the same demo build as the one presented at Blizzcon this year. Probably the most interesting part is at one point in the vid, the player comes across an Electrified Teleporting monster pack. You can get a much clearer effect on death as well as the behavior of Teleporting.

You just bought this product? http://us.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=110000038
I don't see Diablo I mentioned anywhere there, but the wikipedia mentions this about playing Diablo I in shareware:
"Diablo normally requires the original CD to play, however also included on the disk is a shareware version of the software that could be played without the CD called "Diablo Spawn". This version of the game could be used to join multiplayer games hosted by someone with the "Full" install, but was not playable in single-player mode."

Sorry if you think I'm being hostile, but a good start would be not saying stuff like "it just looks stupid as shit". Makes people not want to play on the same server as you- more so than an ugly building. I'm done with this argument.
A subway system would be cool, but I think people might appreciate using it to get around town so a trolley system would make more sense.
If it's really going to be bad, we can focus on getting up a basic city hall as the main shelter. But If everyone just gets a weapon it should be alright. I mean in singleplayer it's not that hard to fend for yourself in the first couple nights with some torches and a hole in the wall.
