This is a good idea for a contest. I am a long time lurker here but I have only ever posted a hand full of times.
I know this is going to get me more active in this community (although my luck is awful). Good luck everyone, and have fun
EDIT- Apparently I have posted 55 other times. WAY more than I thought haha.

Mar 5, 2011LamesMcGee posted a message on Blizzard's "Anti-Modding" Stance: Another LookSlightly on topic, I'm replaying LoD for kicks, but I've grown bored of it. I have never tried a D2 mod, any suggestions on which one is good (I'm looking for the one that changes the game the most). I've been browsing the Phrozen Keep for ideas, but I would like some of my fellow DiabloFan members opinionsPosted in: News

Oct 21, 2010LamesMcGee posted a message on Diablo III's PvP System to be Revealed at BlizzconPosted in: NewsThe topic title is kind of misleading. I read the title and my first reaction was something along the lines of, "wtf, Blizzcon already started?". Even though most Blizzard fans know that Blizzcon starts in 4 days, I think the title should be rephrased to something like:
"Diablo III's PvP System to be Revealed at Blizzcon"
Anyways, I'm pretty glad that the Diablo team is actually putting substantial effort into making the PvP system work, and not just have PvP be tacked on to the final product. People love their co-op just as much as they love their PvP.
Yeah, I was so confused when I first read the topics name haha. Oh well, hopefully on the 22nd there will be a topic with the same name - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Well regardless of how you build your character, controlling the health orbs will be the highest priority to win, I am going to assume it will come down to 2 DPS characters and one tank, hopefully your teams tank will out live the other team so you get a win wile your DPSers kill them off.
As for 1v1, Im willing to wager it will be all about DPS.
OMG I LOVED THAT SHOW! It would be interesting to see traps in the arenas, but I feel like I would just get angry and frustrated by them. I hope they don't get put in.

So, your thoughts? Do you think you will being going with traits to increase your defense, HP, dodge rate, and so on. Or will you be gearing towards higher damage, faster attack and cast speed, deadly strike and the like?

I think Dolaiim's idea is amazing, although I would like to tweak it. Lets say that one major dungeon an act has this system implemented (assumability the last act-ending one with the act's main boss). The boss has a 50% chance of dropping one of 4 key peaces and you take all 4 to an artisan to create the key. In order to keep this more end game oriented it will only be accessible in hell and your artisan has to be max level to create the key. This then opens a new area of the dungeon containing a time trial, siege based challenge, defense mode, unique boss, or whatever.
I think this is a good system because:
-It makes the end game less repeatable so its not the only thing players are doing.
-People who don't want to do the content can sell the key peaces for gold.
-Most of us are going to be farming these bosses anyways, so farming these keys wont be a waste of time.
-Very ignorable for end game naysayers.
I would like to end by saying I don't understand why so many people seem to be obsessed with the end boss being the "hardest part of the game." This has nothing to do with end game content really, seeing how end game is just more to do at high level and in most games is not harder than the final boss. Also lets not forget the newest addition to D2's end game, the Uber bosses are clearly much harder than Baal or Diablo, so people saying hard end game "isnt like diablo" are wrong... Its already in Diablo 2.

I love this idea, I'm not afraid of grinding forever but I would love to see something fresh from time to time at least.
I remember all the way back when information for D3 first started coming out they said that there would be optional randomized quests. And I remember one of the ways they said it would happen was a random section of a map would be cut out and replaced with the quest area or boss... I just cant for the life of me remember if its still part of the game or if its one of the things that was removed for whatever reason.

I would love to see something like that, or maybe a guild only set of dungeons that are almost impossible with amazing rewords at the end. I really just want something other than Baal grinding forever, preferably a few different options so it never get old. Your two event ideas are also very good, weekly events and things always add longevity to a game.

Oops, I didn't see that.

According to this article, Diablo 3 is scheduled to ship in Q4 2011. Seems plausible.
I have a hard time believing this is real, but these rumor control articles on Gamespot usually turn out to be correct, heres hoping.
Also, this schedule seems to mark 2 planned expansions over the next 2 years after the games release. I really hope this is true, getting an expansion a year is more than I can really hope for.

After reading the latest news on the chat gem from blizzcon I got bored and started reading all the old conspiracies and all the proof people came up with to back their opinions on the web, I'm still not sold that it does anything.
BUT I do want to know what all of you guys think?
For anyone not familiar with the chat gem craze: http://www.diablowiki.com/Chat_Gem

Also it wouldn't make much difference unless each battle in pvp lasted long, and from what I saw it looks like they are quick, so the little buffs will make almost no difference.
