Looks like fan art to me, nothing official, but I see your point anyway. I guess most games do that to get a few extra customers...

For those that do not know, that picture of the Rogue is artwork that appeared in the official manual that came with Diablo 1.

What do you do at level 90+??

I'm leveling my char to 99, takes months. I'm currently at 95, and I'm getting tired of playing the same style, so I want to respec him and change his play so I can have some diversity to reach 99.

    I edited my response:

If we are to assume the only one skill change per token approach, then this would need maybe need to accur more often, maybe every ten levels and there might also need to be dropped respecs.

Another solution could be to make it quest reward, but make the quest repeatable every X character levels, let's say every 20 levels. That way the player can get a handful of respecs at different stages of the game without worry about whether they will lucky enough to find one.

Of course that quest would have to eithe be really long or really hard to complete.

    Edit:

That's fine if they want to sell it but they would not be able to sell them to other players only vendor trash them. This would give people the opportunity to respec if they wanted and the other players just get some gold.

The item would drop vary rarely and balanced enough so that you would only get 1 every two-three levels worth of game time. That way you would still have to plan out your build but if you made a mistake, it would not break your character.

Hey Blizzard, I think we have a winner!

what if respecing to the shape of a dropped item. That way you would not be able to just change your entire character at once. If you wanted to change some skills, you would have to keep playing in order to find these items. The main problem with this however, is that such a useful item would flood the market as a replacement for gold but they could also make the item untradeable (BoP) since we already know that they have BoE.

Now that's a pretty cool idea. Maybe having each respec item limed to only one or two skills per item.

Being bound to a player could work, but there will still be those that would rather sell it than use it.

It doesn't work that way. its like giving every player in goldeneye a golden pp7 and you dont use it because you dont like it. not gonna happen.

p.s. - i dont care if a few people say "i dont have time to get to high levels with multiple characters, so they should have respecs". Well, to frikkin bad is the way i see it. Can you imagine if thats how video game developement worked? Yeah they should shorten Final Fantasy games too because of some people who dont have the time to beat them.

He has a valid point, and a lot of people people feel that way. I personally would not use the feature if they put it in, but a lot would just because it's there. I would however prefer it not to be so easy. Having it cost gold is meaningless as we've all seen how easy it is to accumulate wealth in Diablo.

We all have different ideas on what we'd like in the game, but they can't keep everyone happy, so we'll just have to wait and see what Blizzard delivers. I'm sure we'll all still be playing D3 for years to come no matter what they decide to do.

    So if I get your idea, what your saying is that;

If a player levels a certain skill, lets say, Magic MIssiles. When he finally reaches skill level 10 he realizes that at this point in the game he isn't able to effectively deal a big enough damage output and chooses to respex his skill points into a better offensive skill.

He would have to give up 10 levels of his character to get those points back right? It's an ok concept, exept that higher level characters will have a tough time with respeccing. Versus lower level chars who can respec at will.

I mean how hard is it to climb from 20 to 30? 4 to 5 hours.... What about ..Level 80 to 90 5 to 10 days or more. So isn't this kinda unbalanced..?

The idea is that if you have wasted a skill point you can go back and earn the right to reallocate a skill point.

You seem to be talking about respeccing all skills, or at least respeccing a large enough amount to completely change a character's strategy. In these cases I believe that the player should restart a new character from the beginning, as I believe that's what the developers intended.

I know a lot of people will say "but why should I have to restart?", but I don't think those people are quite getting the enjoyment out of the game that they should. I'm not saying that their views are wrong, I just don't believe that's the way the game was intended to be played and enjoyed.

To me it feels too much like cheating to be able to completely respec my character, sort of like using the trainers of the earlier Diablos.

Again, just my opinion. I'll still be playing the game either way.

I hate the idea of a quick fix respec. Here's what I would consider an acceptable solution:

When a player decides to respec they will get to remove a skill point from any skill they choose, then they will lose a character level (and possibly the last stat points from the last level up). Then the player would have to level up again in order to regain their skill point to reallocate elsewhere.

This way the player has to actually work for their respec instead of it being handed to them on a silver platter.

    Just my opinion.

Oh yeah, and hi to all, first post here!
