I'm afraid I'm going to have to highly disagree with the people who think negatively about gold art(all negatives except lagging the game).
I continue to do gold art and I am not anywhere close to being bored with the game.
I find it to be very fun when in social games(a.k.a. about any game where people are spending a lot of time in town, like Duels, Trading, and Mule Parking).
The act of doing gold art never ceases to surprise most people I encounter(And believe me, I'm no "Gold Artist", sometimes just the word "HELLO" in gold makes people go "whoah, cool!") and it adds just a bit of cosmetic entertainment.
I also never meet people who are "bored with the game" that do gold art. It's just as "off-topic" from the game as dueling and trading, both activities that stray away from progressing experience and/or the story.
I believe that any element of a game that has even an irrelevant and unintended feature within itself that can be used for even the lowest forms of entertainment, I'm all for it. It gives it the slightest bit of "sandboxiness" that I truly enjoy when I don't feel like following a set path.
