I guess one benefit to playing HC is the sense of being an elitist prick you gain from thinking you're somehow better than anyone that doesn't play HC.

ruksak posted a message on Why do people consider Turbo HUD cheating?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion@Atyio ~ You said (and I'm quoting verbatim, unlike yourself) ~ "you complain about sth that doesn't affect you. "I got only to rank 5 because everyone is using Thud"
That insinuates that I said that. I did not say that. I actually am quite indifferent about the whole thing. I cannot control what others do. I can only control my decisions, and I frankly don't care much about ThuD. I've played PC games for many many years, and I know there will always be cheats, and people will always use them.

LordRyche posted a message on Why do people consider Turbo HUD cheating?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionIt's a 3rd-party program....against the EULA....thus a cheat, any way you wanna spin it! I don't understand why that's so difficult for people to comprehend.

It does directly effect his in-game experience.
I thought we had that discussion already in a different thread. If I play with a higher resolution than you, I get to see things before you. Can't really consider this as a cheat.
This is a feature included in the game. THUD is not included in the game and violates the terms of use...
If it was such a big deal don't you think Blizzard would say sth about it?
Blizzard almost never comments on exploits, hacks or cheats. They've stated this several times. Take HonorBuddy as an example...
Most people use it because blizzards interface, let's say it could use some more features.
Why people use it is irrelevant, however, most people at the top-end use it for an advantage, not just because "features are lacking". There is no grey area here, using it is cheating and against the ToS. Whether or not you agree that it should be against the ToS is another topic entirely.

People are being bitches about it because it shows the general layout of the map that you are currently on. It's not discovered or anything but it shows you roughly where an exit to the map should be (not always the case, since maps are randomized in rifts).
But yea if you played the game enough you know the maps and should find the exit at almost the same time as someone who uses Thud. Or you could simply google the map layouts and have them up on your 2nd monitor, but I guess that's cheating too Kappa.
Before I say a word, I'm going to ask that we remain civil about this discussion. That means no flaming/trolling. "People are being bitches about it" is NOT being civil. Take that tone down a notch or two please.
People are totally welcome to discuss this highly polarizing issue here, just do so like an adult, please.
Now that this is out of the way;
What we see you doing here is exactly what pisses a lot of folks off about ThuD use. Anytime people do something they know is wrong, they minimize it completely. ThuD does a hell of a lot more than just loosely indicate an exit. It also indicates nearby uncovered shrines, elite packs and their affixes...and much more.
All these tip-offs are essential in top placement. If I had knowledge of where the exit may be, I would zoom right to it when my R6 enters a level filled with runners, bees, exorcists etc. You are wrong to imply that all tile sets have exits in the same spot. That's 100% bull pies. They do not, and you can think the exit is in a certain direction, only to end up pinned in a dead end with 100 horrible things blocking your path back.
In HC, this can spell death.
It is cheating, of course it's cheating. It is not only against the clearly written rules, it enhances your ability to perform completely and it is NOT part of the game.
I repeat...IT IS NOT PART OF THE GAME. It is cheating. Call it what it is. You can call it a ham sandwich if you like, it's still cheating.
I am currently pushing for top placement in the far less competitive HC NS Monk boards. Less competitive, but still competitive. If I used a 3rd party program to help me in any way, I would consider myself cheating.
No ThuD here. Clean as a whistle. I assure you, I could climb higher and have a much easier time with an add-on overlay like ThuD. Of course I would. I just failed a 47 which could've gotten me as high as 2nd spot. It was in the Spider Cave tile set, and the floor was filled with Boogan's pelting me with ranged shots, absolutely tearing me a new asshole.
I tried a few times to blink ahead and find the next floor down, but I kept getting led to dead-ends, almost dying, having droves of nasty bastards piling up behind me. Trying to find my way out almost cost me my precious Monk.
Tell me again how ThuD doesn't help?

Blauk posted a message on decisions with season 4Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionYou should go Barb I think. The class has more diversity in build this patch than any other. There is WW build (6wastes BK, 6waste 4ik) Rend build, Ik/Raekor/Hota, and IK/seismis slam, and they all seems to be decent. And who knows what will come up during the season.
Uliana Monk is also really fun and has that Ooomph you search with huge damage spike on big pack.

Cancelled posted a message on decisions with season 4Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionCondemn/Pony Crusader isn't really a thing anymore, the Akkhan's set just isn't competitive at all. Blessed Hammers are fun, though.
I'd probably check out WW Barb or the new Helltooth WD with Acid Cloud. Archon Wizard kinda works the way you describe with stacking Chantodo's > Archon form damage but you need to keep TPing around to stay alive which can be a bit involved if you're just looking to blow mobs up.
Short of downloading the PTR and giving a few different builds a shot, you could watch some 2.3 videos on Youtube to see what you like the look of. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
