The best character I've played for PvM is a "hammerdin." I never ran into anything I couldn't kill. From the posts already here, it sounds like there are potentially a couple monsters that can't be killed with hammers. /violin
The most fun character I've played for PvM is a "trapsin." I never ran across a mob I couldn't kill. If it was immune to lightning, I would convert it (confuse, etc.) and then corpse explode it. I also liked fade, the increased run speed and not having to carry keys.
