Quick question. Recently started playing with a Krider Slow Ball build. I'm liking Iceblink for solo as a way to reliably proc cull the weak and BOtT, but for group play with a Witch Doctor I'm wondering if I should run BotP as my 3rd gem. I'm assuming the Witch Doctor's cc will be proccing my CtW/Trapped for me, so 15% to elites (I have no other Elite damage) is better than +10% cc?
As far as I'm aware Area Damage is the preferred roll. The reduced cool down value will depend on your other skills (I assume wolf or bat and preperation) but half the time I forget to pop these straight after cooldown anyway, so human error is a factor, whereas area damage is a straight 20% chance to proc, and with lightning you are hitting so often I imagine it procs a lot. Also works well with the idea that mobs are being pulled together by a zdps class..
in the end I guess it depends on how many cooldown skills you are running and whether you are runnning solo or in a group.
I think it is unreasonable to expect they would continue to patch the game for legacy consoles. Their dev/testing/qa teams are a finite resource, and both the X360 and PS3 sport significantly different architectures than the new consoles, which are much closer to a PC. You have to draw the line somewhere.
I would be very surpised if it does not come out for X1 and PS4, since both platforms have been getting the same patches, and at the same time as the PC version. Clearly their dev team is set up to include on-going console support so yeah, logic suggests we won't be left out. Just my opinion though.
To be honest, with Focus & Restraint dominating the ring slots for dps builds, most other rings have been relegated to novelty/niche/farming build status.
ps while rorg previously dominated, at least it offered a way of mixing and matching sets etc, so it offered a gateway to some level of creativity in build designs. As much as I like having such high powered rings I think it is a shame that they leave us with little/no other options. If you are chasing dps, they are really the only option.
ps. The WD I've teamed with is very good and I feel quite lucky to have teamed with him. So I want to step up to the plate and do my side of job to the best fo my ability. A big part of that is understanding the build properly.
We cleared a 58 to get 3rd place in the 2 man legit division and 1st place is currently a 61 clear.
I have a "reasonable" ancient Krider. Unfortunately it is missing a main stat as I got 9 disc and a socket. since it had +9 damage on it already I chose to roll the disc. up to 12, but realised after that atatck speed is pretty important for the lightning build. I did farm an ok Met Bolts and as per Philos's guide I actually got a strongarms with +20 lighning and force rolled +4% knockback on it, which his build guide suggests is useful, I assume because the lightning hits so often the knockback will proc quite frequently.
Anyway, I gave this build a small trial solo but found I was 2-3 Grifts below my standard fire build and did not overly enjoy the gameplay style either so let it go.
I have however started playing a lot with a Witch Doctor and he has suggested I take a look at putting a lightning build together to see how we go.
I'll post a pic of my Krdier when I get home tonight so you guys can see the exact stats and offer an opinion as to whether it is viable or not, but in the meantime I have a couple of general questions.
Does the krider build scale better in teams? I have noticed with the witch Doctors crowd control I am able just "stand and spam" much more than I can when playing solo, so I suspect this alone favors krider as I'll be able to get a lot more lightning balls out. with my fire build I tend to become pretty resource constrained but that will never happen with Krider as you are spamming a generator.
Attack Speed Buff from Witch Doctor. As my krider has no +speed I found it was really hard getting enough balls on screen playing solo. I'm thinking this might be a less of a handicap with the WD bumping my speed up. However, is the strongarm/knockback the right way to go or should I try to farm Steady Strikers with +attack speed?
I'm really enjoying playing in a team (something I've avoided on the PS4 due to so many hackers) and I'm keen to push for the best build possible as we are competing on unoffical leaderboards (currently 3rd in 2 man team).
If you were clearing 55 with MS build or UE build in general, while missing any + skill damage rolls, or if I understand correctly, MS on both helm and quiver, then you can do 56 by a large margin when you get those rolls
If you only had +15% MS roll on your boots, and not on helm or quiver, you'd be going from 115% multishot damage, to a whooping 145%. Thats a flat out ~26% damage increase my friend!
You'll be owning 56 in no time! Good luck
Yes, I can clear 55 and I did it with only +14 on my boots. This has me in 2nd place on the unofficial Diablo 3 solo leader boards legit players (console). As per video, I do a complete gear check at the end (a requirement of getting on the leaderboards) and you will see only my boots have +ms on them. Since this clear I am now running a better rolled Odysseys End and Steady strikers, and I'm trying to farm a helm with cc and +ms, and I am going to roll off rcr from my quiver to +ms, and farm gloves with rcr, then I should be the ultimate glass cannon
ps. and dropped Iceblink for BotP since I'm running Entangling Shot|Justice is Served rather than Evasive Fire|Focus
pps. here is the guy in 1st place. only 2k vit and not a single all resist. I can't see myself beating this run anytime soon, I'm just going to try and chase a GR56.
I can beat GR55 with my multishot fire build, I used Windforce and strongarms. You don't need Kridershot for a stong multishot build, you can do pretty well without it. I think a well rolled anceint Calamity would be the best weapon but bows (Odysseys; Windforce etc) work well too.
ps. some people also have great success with the two handed cross bows, eg force craft an Arcane Barb with great stats and you are good to go. Personally I just don't enjoy the slow attack speed.
I'm in the process of mkaing changes since this clear. I'm now running a very well rolled Odyssey's End that has +9 dmg and +7 attack speed and steady strikers. I'm going more glass cannon by rerolling +ms onto quiver and I'm going to try and farm a helm with +cc and +ms (dropping vit). I'm going to try and farm gloves with rcr and drop even more vit. Sadly I have to go this way to keep pushing higher.
It is actually good news to discover I have a genuine opportunity to increase my firepower as my current solo cap is GR55 but with some more tweaks I am confident I can be GR56 viable. good times.
Thanks Drez, that was the answer I was looking for. I assumed the +multi on gear would simply be additive to the +multi you get from discipline, so was not prioritising it over defensive stats. I see now this was a mistake and will keep farming for a helm I can roll to dex/socket/crit/multi and a deadmans I can get multi on (without loosing rcr on it, which I also absolutely need).
Sometimes when I just start a high level grift, and I'm surrounded by elites; by poison under my feet; arcane lines spawning in front of me; walls locking me in; shots reflecting back at me; Lightning bolts hitting me on top of my head -and vaulting just spawns another elite pack to block any chance of escape, I don't like Diablo 3 very much and think it is a stupid game with out of control rng. Most other times I think it is one of the best games I've ever played.

So this is my krider. Usable? Damage range is average and missing a primary stat. On the + side it is ancient and it has +12 disc.

ok thanks, so in other words it works like I thought it did.. (um assuming you are also referring to the +multi on items)
