stop being such a baby crying that blizzards making the game too different.
too different? no, too easy! i'm crying out for them to make the game as ruthless as Diablo 2 was. it's everyone's crying which drove them to candy coat the game and change things to make it EASIER.

i feel like no one is reading the original post and only looked at the title.

all i'm asking is whether you think the reason blizzard is releasing so much so early is because they're looking for feedback, then i'm asking what sort of feedback you have to offer and if you agree with what i have to say.

unfortunately it seems most of the people here are looking for another glazed grinding game, wow. the masses have spoken. so much has happened at blizzard since their first great games, warcraft 1 and 2, diablo 1 and 2, starcraft. then the team got torn apart because of higher up business doing it's thing.

so now there's a new team. led by the wonderous Jay Wilson.

it's just a shame that the fans won't stand up and voice their opinions about why diablo 2 was so great: individuality of characters (MUCH moreso than other games at the time) and diversity of players on battle.net, both potentially destroyed by automating stats and removing hostility, respectively.

you've got a clusterfuck of Narcissist's with their version of the right way.
the clusterfuck of Narcissit's you're talking about is the original diablo development team. i support them. they made the decisions that led diablo into the series it currently is. what it's to become...who knows.

Anyone who takes the time to sign up for a Diablo 3 forum three years before the games release is a bitchy fanboy :)

And that's one big reason their games take so long to produce. But it's worth it.

they need to tweak around resistances, monsters speed, etc to make it so you have to work together more.

And I agree that they should. They shouldn't coast past these issues by simply lowering the max amount of players per game, they should work on balancing.

If you're going to say someone else is wrong, at least spell tune correctly.

Thanks for the spelling correction. What can I say, i'm crazy, my mind is on loony toons.

we wont know if its good or not untill they actually finish it and release it and we play it....the games barely off the drawing board.
My first question is whether you think Blizzard is looking for suggestions or not. You seem to be saying they are not but then why else would they release such an early sample which like you said is, "barely off the drawing board."

You can already choose to do this in D2.

Yes but in Diablo 2 by default there is no level restrictions. My suggestion is to change the default setting. That way players don't unwittingly allow high levels to enter their games.

Blizzard has let everyone sneak a very early peak at D3. Are they looking for feedback? It's so early in development that in some areas of the game big changes can still be made. Even though Jay Wilson is sometimes flat out wrong in some of his interviews it ok because there's still enough time to reconsider. In the end I'm certain his goal is to create another masterpiece that will stick around for years and years. Here's my polite suggestions that I hope Blizzard will consider:

    A. Please don't automate attribute allocation. Keep it manual. Let us fine toon. OK, there was certainly problems with the attribute system in Diablo 2 that led many people to choose the same builds but now you can look back at what the problem actually was and fix it in Diablo 3. Begin by trying to make sure that all of the attributes carry equal weight. If that's impossible then do it because the items you build force players to make more diverse attribute choices. No matter what, don't take away part of the game that also removes a part of character individuality with it. Take the time to balance. Why should Jay choose all my attribute points for me? Who's Jay to say, "THIS is how we play!"

    B. Please allow hostility to remain. I realize many people consider a player killer (PK) to be a nuisance but hostility is what makes Diablo 2 raw and ruthless. Pking is a necessary evil. There's two big complaints about pking in Diablo 2:

    1) Problem - High levels praying on low levels. Solution - By default impose a level restriction that's a standard deviation of 5 or something like that and still allow players to choose their own level restrictions if they want to.

    2) Problem - Exploitive measures like TPPK (town portal player kill), lingering firewalls, hydras, traps, and guided arrows. Solution - Forcing spells and abilities to dissapear when the character enters a town portal, way point, or town.

There's really no reason to remove hostility except for the cause of candy coating. Unless Jay Wilson thinks we should remove hostility for other reasons? Eh, Jay?

    3. Include hardcore mode. Don't even get me started on this one. Just announce it. Or don't announce it. But include it.

    4. Impose a Blizzard enforced SOJ based economy.

OK, that last one was a joke. But the rest is for reals. Really Blizz, for reals, do this stuff. It's important.

Yea Doppelganger, just ignore all the arguments we have made in the past 10 pages.

What are you talking about? He's saying that he doesn't agree with limiting games to four people. I agree. Why impose limits like that? People can play with four players if they want but why limit people who want to play with 5 or more? That sucks if I'm with five friends and we all want to play Diablo 3 but we have to exclude someone!

A 4 man team is much easier to coordinate

So then play with four players. But why FORCE me to play with four players? They should be raising the limits not lowering them.

sheesh, haven't you ever watched naruto?

I don't anyone is really AFRAID to be PKd

    Then JW is wrong.

Some people like to just play PvM, some like to play PvP, some like to PK. The PKing interferes with others PvMing.

I realize that in Diablo 2 Pking was often annoying because it was done with overpowered, higher level, sometimes exploitative means. If they fix the exploits and allow for level restrictions when making games then there's no reason to get rid of hostility. Like i've said, it's one of those necessary evils that make Diablo what it is.

It was bad enough that D2 was completely free play for everyone - they shouldn't add trolling possibilities on top of that.

Bad enough that D2 was free play? That's why D2 was a great game, the game allows people many freedoms. Freedom to develop characters as individuals and freedom on battle.net to congregate. D3 is just taking freedoms away one by one and Jay is saying, "THIS is how we play."
