Although server structure might be the same as it was before even in a revamped Battle.net - there being four realms - it would be cool to allow for a form of an auction house to take place. This would bind players together, yet be hard to configure without greater server infrastructure, i.e. : more like WoW with "battlegroups."
But, Blizzard could still allow for just one giant realm auction house since they have already been quoted saying they wanted more emphasis on gold use in D3. This would allow for the market to be influenced by the demands of all the players on the server... but other those against an idea like this would just bring up the fact that there "are" many items, but at the same time, it would almost be foolish to do something like this.
Just airing some ideas about one topic with some counterargument.
