posted a message on Attribute Points? New concept?
We all know about distribution points (strength, dexterity, etc...) and obviously there are skill points too so you can gain new skills and upgrade existing ones from your skill tree...

But what about going in that extra depth and adding something like attribute points?
These have less of an impact in the game but are there simply as an added bonus?

A couple of ideas as below:
Negotiation: Allows for discounts from town merchants
Endurance: Gives you additional running speed/stamina
Vision: Increases character line of sight/light radius
Fortune: Gives the hero an increased chance to find magic items
Perseverance: Any temporary buffs from shrines/other heroes stay on the hero longer

When you first create your character you get a set amount of distribution points to spend and with each level up/quest reward etc... you also get more points to use.

    Just a thought...

posted a message on Selectable Dialogue / Reputation
    REPUTATION:
I really like the idea of reputation but this has already been used in the WoW series. How about to separate WoW from D3, throw in a different perspective by taking the reputation concept and turning it into something slightly different and more related to the good/evil genre of Diablo...

Replace reputation with like "religion" or "faith"

Helping key NPCs, saying the right things when prompted, and following a certain path gives you these faith points to assist you in the game. There could be items that require a set number of this "faith" to wear/wield; or perhaps damage buffs against particularly evil monsters if you have higher faith? Some quests are only available or certain NPCs only speak to heroes of a particular faith level?

    SELECTABLE DIALOGUE:
This is a great idea but as briefly touched on this should not change the game-play direction or questing capability. This needs to be as much a solo-friendly game as it is a multiplayer game, so there should be no situations where a poor dialogue selection means you can no longer accept a quest or visit an area.

A horrible situation in multi-player would be: "Sorry Slasher28, I was talking to the barkeep and told him that he served watered-down mead and now I can't go with you to do the cleanse the tavern basement quest"

The selectable dialogue should be simply for fun and to open up hints or extra quest/gossip/story information. At each point a player is prompted to select what to say, there should be an obvious way to neutrally end the conversation like "Great, I guess I’ll be on my way". This should not affect any reputation (or faith :)) and acts as an easy exit if you can't be bothered speaking to an NPC or prefer to hack and slash rather than story hunt and town camp.

posted a message on what class
The other 3 classes have to be completely unique from each other and yet still capable of defeating enemies with their own strategy (this is why the necro was replaced with the witch doc as both use summons to assist)

I can however think of 4 types of hero currently unused but we know only 3 more hero types will be created??? The 4 remaining stereotypes I can think of are:

Dedicated Spellcaster (Mage / Wizard type)

    Healer (Priest / Holy type)
    Ranged (Hunter / Rogue type)
    Stealthy (Assassin / Thief type)

Hmmmm... My guess would be Spellcaster, Healer, and Ranged types... I think they will leave the Stealth class for the expansion

posted a message on Side Quests on D3
I hope that there is an abundance of quests and side-story lines. With Blizzards creation of WoW I think there is some expectation to keep alot of quests and variances to the playing style. D2 was very structured and you were forced on a particular path but that suited the games of that time and was what most people expected. I think D3 will be completley different in its approach.

PS: I really like the idea of random quests and events happening which keep the game different every time.

posted a message on Diablo III Colour scheme debate
Blizzard make fantastic games, I still to this day play D2, SC1 and WC3 because they have phenomenal playability.
The graphics they have come up with are breathtaking and the physics are going to be insanely lifelike but with all blizzard games, it’s not about the graphics… it’s about the epic gameplay they always manage to create.
People who cling to the minority and take pot-shots at blizzard for their art direction obviously have not experienced the unblemished track record of blizzard games… Diablo III will be unbelievable, let Blizzard do their job...
