How do you know the Paladin just didn't happen to be black because of where he was from? Do you really think that the choice to make the Paladin have darker skin was an affirmative action move? You ruined my evening.

Way too sensitive to racial issues man. When one thinks of a paladin, they don't necessarily think HE MUST BE WHITE BLACK PEOPLE ARE SATAN. But the image of the paladin is overwhelmingly a white, european crusader.

Then you could simply leave it disabled...

People arguing against bump-mapping have no idea what it is. That, or they want everyone to be forced to look at the shitty WoW pseudo-textures they enjoy getting off to.

As he said - migrating characters from one server to the other, changing character names, perhaps database maintenance for armory / guild support... But nothing that is core to the game itself obviously.

That isn't the issue. The issue is that many people arguing FOR a p2p diablo 3 would actually PREFER core game functionalities to be monetized. These people are sheep.

You don't even know what kinds of features they'll be monetizing. It's people like you that stop games from moving forward. As I said before, gaming is not a damn charity, its a business and things change. Imagine how much more it's going to cost Blizzard to make the three versions of starcraft, featuring 28-32 hours of gameplay per campaign. They chose to do that, as opposed to just releasing the whole game in 2009, with watered down campaigns. And you said worse and worse games, since when have Blizzard games been bad?

Gee, they didn't have three separate and awesome campaigns in starcraft and brood war, all in the same package did they? DURRRRRR

Your argument is completely idiotic. The "Three versions of starcraft" are the three campaigns that should be included in the single game, for a single price. I am absolutely shocked at how badly people want to give blizzard more money for worse games.

And btw, Blizzard games have been trash since Warcraft 3, the initial blow to the warcraft franchise. WoW was the nail in the coffin for warcraft. Diablo 3 is the hinge; if they continue to fuck it up this badly, they will not only ruin the diablo franchise. It'll be the last stroke severing the blizzard we knew and loved from the money grubbing, mediocre gaming company it is becoming.

It's cheap bastards like you that keep a game from making a steady monetary gain that prompts the developers to produce expansions. You are ultimately reducing the possible content the diablo team could produce.

You can't be serious. You're actually arguing in favor of blizzard trying to drag even more money out of us. I knew you were on the wrong side on the color issue, but I didn't know just how deep the fanboy in you ran.

yes i agree that it is very different from WoW but if you expect a game to be support/content in the future u have to expect to pay for it now a days. as much as everyone hates it (i included) we have to accept it eventually and i have...

Or you could, you know, refuse to take part in this monetization of features that have been firmly free for a long time. It's people like you who let corporations walk all over everyone else. Oh no, I guess we just have to accept it. That's just life guys! Blizzard can own my wallet, release worse and worse games (beta tests), and begin monetizing features that gamers have taken for granted since the dawn of gaming.

I haven't played D2 in a long time, I've moved on to other things quite a long time ago. I'm sure once D3 comes out in all its WoW pay to play glory, you'll be self-congratulating yourself on just how much of a sheep you are.

Haha you're my new favorite poster. rofl.

Btw "Nethous"...why does being a longtime fan have to be qualified with (bullshit) in your post. You hopped on the WoW bandwagon and don't like us real fans of blizzard? Well, former fans.

This is the kind of attitude that allows game developers to keep releasing software that requires ten to twenty patches that include everything from bug fixes to final play balancing.

In essence, you're laying down $50 to be part of an extended Beta Test. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, and choose a game in a flushed market, the game better be either damn good to justify the patch timeline, or actually finished upon release.

Your point about no one forcing me to buy a game at gunpoint is very valid, IF the argument was that D3 is the only computer game in existence. Because it isn't, the argument becomes one of Blizzard having to make a case as to WHY their game is better than the others out there.

In the past, their reputation earned from games like Warcraft, Starcraft and the first two Diablos gave them "loyalty capital" which payed forward to the userbase and made the success of games like WoW possible. However, with the morphing of the second sequel into a more WoW type game, long time fans are understandably concerned and even frustrated that the direction is foolhardy, and may be simply pandering to the 9 million subscriber WoW playerbase.

Which is smart economically, but reputation wise perhaps not so. And to refute your last point, the ONLY outlet for fans to voice their concerns are forums like these, and while most posts may be impotent complaining, the sheer volume and repetitiveness indicates a certain kernel of truth to those concerns. Besides no one forces you to read and respond to these posts but you do.

    • Cookie cutter builds

I agree with your post, but what the hell does not having respec capability have to do with cookie cutter builds. On the contrary, unlimited respec capability will lead to homogeneity in skill makeup because noobs will be able to just get a good template online and respec instead of actually building their character properly.

I don't think they said they're removing it all together. Maybe that small function but PvP will still be alive in some way or another. Most likely PvP games that allow more players.

Nah, the hostility function as we know it is completely gone, and that has been confirmed. Both players will have to agree to become hostile before they can attack one another.
