posted a message on Heroes of Might and Magic
I remember playing heroes 3. It was the first rpg game I played. Good memories .

But yea, like pretty much everyone said...Heroes 3 with the two expansions was GREAT, Heroes 5 is good but doesn't have the same feel as Heroes 3, nor the same AI.

Two fun things about heroes 5 tough ( with the expansions) is that you have 2 upgrade options per unit...and the skill system/ castle specials are quite interesting.

Also, on the aesthetics side...the castles really look top notch, especially with the fly by view (Sylvan blew me away with that). The music also contains some very good tracks ( Haven, Sylvan)...although I still miss the tower soundtrack from H3.

My favorite castle in H5 is dungeon...I guess i really like their style: hit and return with powerful spells and sexy/bad ass units.

Back in H3 it was Necropolis and Tower.

Ok, fine. Since people complain I'm too harsh I won't post anymore critiques on your drawings or w/e.

Here is some of my stuff. 3 bandits relaxing after having pillaged a small tomb. I thought that this could be the kind of monsters/NPCs you could find north of Caldeum or west of Lut Gholein.

Also, I received my tablet recently so I might post something in colors in the future.

I'm also going to tell you that a person's artistic ability cannot be extracted from an image. They may lack experience or dedication, not necessarily artistic talent.
I see your point. Trying to ''Extract'' Umpa's talent wasn't my intention in the first place either.

I'm just going to tell you that 99.9% of people that draw random stuff and post it on websites do not have drawing as a career goal, sometimes not even a hobby...
True. Sometimes I take things to seriously...

To cap it all, putting words "career" and "art" is blasphemy if you ask me.
Why? Shouldn't artists be able to live from what they poor their soul into?

Edit: Umpa, It was your first ink drawing? Pretty good.

If it happens to be your career goal, I suggest you start drawing from life as much as possible. It's absolutely crucial to any artist which wants to draw biological entities.

Some of your stuff looks rough, but you do have some potential...so draw more.

Also, forgot to mention, I think the composition is wrong because the wings of the angel look cluttered, and seem to have a lot of weight on them, because of the horse heads and the elements above it. Personally I would have put the angel in the top part of the canvas.

Not bad. I personally love the dude above the Mayan circle.

    There are some mistakes tough.

This song is really cool. Sorry if I lack the knowledge in music to make some constructive criticism for it.

Your stuff is solid. Very good drawing skills overall ( anatomy, composition , form). I think that you might have a slight problem with values vs. saturation tough, but that's just my opinion.

Very good overall, I'm looking forward to hear and see things from you.

    Your art is pretty basic.

Of course if you consider drawing a small hobby than I guess they are OK.
On the other hand, if art is more important to you than just that and you want to pursue your career in that direction that art would be considered as absolutely horrible and unacceptable.

Sorry for being a little harsh, but I don't like lying.

The only good thing that I noticed is that the two last pics have an interesting potential for composition. But it wasn't developed properly.

posted a message on Drawing from Imagination
I usually prefer drawing from imagination. But you absolutely have to study anatomy and real life in general if you want your pics to be plausible.

    I'm currently working on that.

Ok it's finished. True, he didn't have a beard and I removed it.

I also tried to make him look slightly deranged.

My drawing isn't an exact representation of what he looks like in the game. ( he is supposed to have white gloves and a lot more hair than that), but it's pretty close.

    Please leave some feedback.

No worries, I'll take care of that. Those were just sketches to determine his pose.

Ok so, after hearing all the people that want to see some artwork depicting Nihlathak, i'v decided to draw him. Here are some preliminary sketches.

I plan to start drawing the dude tommorrow or so, so if you have any suggestions or comments don't wait! Or it might be too late.

Yea I agree this picture has contrast issues. I'm planing to start studying painter this winter tough and I might reedit this picture. Adding the right level of contrast is very hard to do with graphite in an architectural setting like this one because that would mean I would also have to redo the lines. And there is no going back after it's done. I would prefer to do that kind of things in Painter.

Regardless, thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it.

posted a message on Recruiting Concept Artists
Depending on some factors I might be willing to do this.

    Job-realted experience:
    - I have never worked as a concept artist before, but i have been drawing since I was a little kid.
    - I am designing websites ( html and flash) It's my part time job.
    - I am studying in architecture so I have some experience with programs such as Autocad and 3ds Max.

    Strong points:
    - Since i'm studying architecture, I have a good knowledge of how to draw architectural entities.
    - I am also equally good at drawing people/monsters and other biological organisms (as you can see in my drawings)
    - I have some experience in flash/photoshop/3ds max
    - I am very enthusiastic about this whole thing since it's something that has interested me since i was a kid.

    Weak points:
    - I tend to be a perfectionnist so sometimes it takes me a while to finish my drawings.
    - I don't have a lot of experience in coloring and finalising drawings in photoshop ( I will buy a pad in the next weeks and begin studying painter).

    Problems/complications:
    - My semester ends in about 5 weeks, I don't know what delay you want your project to be completed in but this might be the biggest problem.

Here are some examples of things i'v drawn (I don't only draw realisticaly. Altough it's my prefered drawing style, I can do something more cartoony or abstract without problems)
