Ok, I'm not interested in battle.net anyway, so I'll be ok with single player. But are there any "safe," (non-virus, non-spyware, non-malware) legit trainers out there?I just really want to enhance some skills for all my different characters. It feels like it's gonna take me forever 2 beat hell or attain some spells I've sacrficed not to invest skill points to. For example, for the sorceress, I'd like to max her Warmth skill, put 10 skill points on energy shield, and maybe bump her cold mastery to level 10 also. I'd also max out the Prayer skill for the Paladin. And just some cool skills I'd like 2 get a hold of (Valkyrie, Shadow Master, Heavenly Bolt, etc...). So anyone know a legit, safe trainer? thanks.

So how do I pick a mercenary with a Holy freeze? There's just defense, combat, and offense. Which one is the one that has Holy Freeze?

I loved the "multiply" cheat in the first Diablo game. Unfortunately, there seems to be no cheats for D2. At times, I just want to start out with an already powerful and accomplished character 'cause I've played this game for a long time and some skills I've never been able to attain. So do you guys think it's a good idea to download trainers? I've personally never done so, as I heard it wasn't safe. But what about this: http://www.maxfreak.com/diablo2/savegames.shtml ? Still a bad idea? Is going the fair way (playing the game 2 level up character) the only way?

Ok Thanks, y'all, especially Invincible. I've finally managed to kill Duriel following the mercenary from act 2 option. The thing is, how do I identify a mercenary with Holy Freeze? I don't think they say it when u scroll down the selection, unlike the rogues that states "cold or fire arrows" when you're about to purchase them. The reason y I invest in all 3 disciplines is because I'm fullly aware some monsters will be immmune to either one of them. That's why I do that. Is that bad strategy? I've been doing that since D2 came out. I prioritize my Warmth skill and has now reached level 11. My frozen orb is what I frequently use for cold, chain lightning for lightning, and Hydra and Blaze for fire. I find the meteor spell unreliable as it takes too long to hit the target.

Edit: Btw, I used static on Duriel, but I didn't see his life points deduct. Am I not suppose to see immediate effects of the Static spell?

lvl51 is pretty high for normal mode. it sounds like you investing in all 3 skill trees. you should have just stuck to one or two. for duriel, use static on him to get him down about halfway. then use the most powerful spell you invested in. oh and a act2 nm def merc will help alot more than a rouge.
Well, I'm already in Act 2 for Nightmare. I've always neglected the static spell, thinking it was useless, so I don't know. Do u think it would affect an Act boss? And the Lut Gohlein mercenary was what I was thinking as well. I just feel it'll be a waste since my Rouge has already leveled up and her spiffy, multi-jeweled (multi-elemental) bow seems useful whenever the Sorceress encounters elemental immunity with some of the monsters. Alright, I'll see if static field will work. My lightning mastery passive skill is already adding 75% damage (level 3). But I think my static spell is only at level 1. We'll see. Thanks for the tip.

I have an amazing level 51 Sorceress. She's so bad ass in normal mode. A complete goddess on the battlefield. However, when I got to level nightmare, she's been brutally bitch-slapped by Duriel. Therefore, I'm stuck! That fast, nasty insect seems impervious to her magicks, be it lightning, fire, or cold spells. Can anybody help me? Are there any effective strategies to deal with Duriel in nightmare mode as a Sorceress? Even my hireling Rouge, who has a deadly poisonous bow (perfect emerald with flawless saphire and flawless ruby), won't suffice. Help! I hate Duriel!

posted a message on D2 game question.
Ok, thanks for the reply. Yikes! Hardcore maybe too risky for me. My next D2 question is regarding the Horadric cube combinations. I already know that u have to combine three like jewels to produce a higher quality than their current ones. But what other combinations are there? I specifically remember that "Wirt's Leg" can be used, too. Does anyone know?

It's been a while but I managed to get my d2 expansion playing (thanks to Invivncible!). Now when u start a new game, there's an option checklist that says "expansion character or "hardcore." What does "hardcore" option do if you choose it for your new character?

Okay, sorry, I must have made things a llittle confusing. They were the two options you had for getting the new patch. You dont have to do both, you do one or the other. I would suggest first trying to download just the patch, because it would be less time consuming. (no account set up necessary)

    1.)goto http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20758
2.)depending on wether you have windows or mac, the Original Diablo II or expansion, click on one of the 4 download links. for example: if you have windows (xp or vista or windows anything) look under Windows version 1.12a Upgrade Patchand if you have LoD installed
click the download link under expansion. save the file to your desktop.
3.)now run the .exe file you just downloaded. It should be called something like patch_112a.exe and just follow on screen directions.
4.)once you have successfully installed the patch and you get d2 running, you can delete the patch_112a.exe file that you saved to your desktop.

If the method above doesn't work this is your other option.

    1.) completely uninstall diablo II
    2.)goto www.blizzard.com/store
    3.)click register (top right corner)
4.)select your contry, agree to Terms of use, fill out the form etc... (use your correct e-mail address)
5.)check your e-mail and activate your account.
    6.)sign in at blizzard.com/store
    7.)once signed in, click Account
8.)under my account controls click games
9.)click add new game enter your cd-key and click add game. save the installer to your desktop and when its done, run it and it will install diablo for you, along with the newest patch!!!
10.)when you have diabloII up and running you can now delete the installer that you saved to your desktop.
Omg! I can't thank u enough! Installation has begun. I'm excited, though the download is a tad slow. Anyway, I'd like 2 ask if, say, my computer doesn't live up 2 its former standard performance (considering it's been 4 years since purchase), can i still install my d2 game from any computer? I have a compaq laptop, and I was thinking of reinstalling it there in case if my old desktop acts iffy. Would I need to uninstall it on the desktop first to install it elsewhere again? Btw, thank u so much for all the help, man. I appreciate it.;)

what dont you feel secure about? the link for the patch is straight from the blizz website. If you really dont believe me goto blizzard.com/diablo2 and look for patch under downloads. you cant just download the no-cd patch from the blizz store, you have to download the entire game. yes its free, you just have to make an account by filling out a form. its all safe, dont you trust blizzard?
Ok, ok. You're right. I was just being cautious of viruses and spywares and what not. I apologize for being slow on this. These patch things are a new thing for me. I never had to deal with them, much less aware of them. So for the last time, do I just make an account in blizzard store and download the entire no-cd patch game from there, or do I do it from this link (http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20758) u provided? Or is there some sequence between the two? Which is it? Sorry again for the lengthy, repetitive questions. I appreciate it.

btw, if I use this link: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20758, I don't have to make some sort of an account as opposed to doing it on the blizzard store? And when i download the patch in the above mentioned link, I won't need to download it on the blizzard store site, right?

Heres a link to the patch. http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=20758
took me about 4 seconds to find on the blizzard.com/diablo2 website.

If this doesn't work, you are going to have to uninstall DiabloII, and goto Blizzard.com/store and create an account. under account there is a thing that says add games to my account. you click that, then enter your diabloII cd key. the no cd patch comes with the fresh install.

    rep my post plz
I think I'm gonna go with the second option, as I don't feel secure downloading some patch. But u have to reassure me that downloading the no-cd-patch in blizzard.com/store is absolutely FREE (provided I have my cd-key from my D2 game some 2 years ago) and safe, yes?

posted a message on what is your favorite class?
I'd have to go with the Sorceress as my favorite (though I also have a soft spot for the Paladin). The Sorceress is the H.B.I.C. ("Head bitch in charge" - coined by New York) when it comes to spell casting and mana regeneration. Let's face it, we won't find mana all the time. Her Warmth skill saves her from death time and again. I have a preference for "cold" sorceresses. I like to completely obliterate my foes and lessening the carcass they leave behind. Hence, a cold sorceress is not a suitable companion for an uber summoning necro. Lastly, her frozen orb and her blizzard spells are to die for. None can escape. However, I have trouble with the Sorceress when she's in Nightmare and Hell difficulty, as there are many foes who've become immune to certain elemental attacks.

Why thank u. But yea, r u guys sure? Because before, I could play this game in my compaq (2 yrs. ago) without any problems. And now it won't even read the play disc (it can read other discs perfectly fine). Same thing with my SIMS game and my Battle Realms.:( But I really just wanna be able to play D2 again.

P.S. what is this Blizzard site where I can download the no-cd patch for free? Can y'all gimme a link? Thanks.

Ugh! I have a similar pity story as you do, although mine seems to be more woeful. I can install the D2, but once I insert the "Play" disc, my compaq (desktop) won't even read it. At least the other person can see his (though it freezes). I also wanted to relive D2 before D3 comes out. Guess I can't! Blah!
