As for BoE being in D3, I look at it this way. Since the amount of gear in the available in the economy is already insanely high (besides SoJ), BoE could be an effective PART of the solution, if done right. This of course depends on how drop rates of gear will function. But imo if it is similar to the rates of lets say Shako drops in D2, then it should be fine. All of this of course really depends on how blizzards implements a lot of variables.
As for D2, duping really did mess everything up. However without duping, there wouldn't be very many runewords out there. *cough LW* So basically, blizz screwed that one up from the beginning. No BoE wouldn't fix D2's problems, but since D3 will be a different game (I hope quite a bit different, and a whole hell of a lot better), it could work. As for SoJ's, again another item which just doesn't follow the rest of the high-end gear drop rates. Which is just mind-numbing stupid, especially since the addition of the Annihilus crap. Why blizzard decided to implement a system in which the most valued item (with the absolute lowest drop rate) should be thrown away dozens+ at a time to obtain 1 charm is crazy. (I realize that many people could obtain a Anni at the same time, becuz all games on the server will spawn uberD, but it's still stupid) And since the Annihilus is the most valued item, due to the 10% exp gain, a lot of SoJ's get spent this way, and thus their value increases even more.
Fixing D2's economy is probably a lost cause, it would require too many changes to the way the game functions, because it just wasn't well designed to start with. Hopefully Blizz takes that into consideration and works very hard with an ample amount of beta testing to get it right.
On a personal side, even by doing NM Andy and Meph countless times in the last 7-8 years, I still have found only 2 SoJ's. During different ladder seasons of course, and the limited amount available for trade led me to exclude them as gear choices (even when I had 20-30 hrs in stash from trading and hoarding wealth). And I've never been too big on Annihilus ever, but as it's not possible for me playtime wise to lvl a char past 94, it's really just not that helpful to me.
The best current solution for D2 (although an incomplete fix, it would be easy to implement) imo would be to fix duping completely, and increase the drop rates of runes (which they did in 1.13 thankfully), and also the drop rates of SoJ's.

As far as the 99's go. It's rather unfortunate that all of those people have been using bots to get their exp... Some of us actually play the game.

I've played all 3 and I gotta say that the AVGN is right when it comes to these games. They are all freaking crazy hard. I've beaten a lot of the other "hardest" games on a multitude of systems and I couldn't beat any of the 3 original Ninja Gaiden games for NES. I got closest on the second one, which the AVGN just beat last week (after 20+ years of off and on play). The first one is just insane, and the third one is downright impossible because you get game over.
On a side note- TMNT for NES is tough, Battle Toads for SNES is tough also and both are great games and really fun. Castlevania 1 is a great NES game and also really hard.

Mode:
PVM SC Ladder
Realm:
West (Currently on East if there's interest there I would rather play there)
Playing times:
Usually after 8pm EST - 4pm EST, but will play during the day when I have time to kill. Not a consistent player atm, school, work, etc. however I try to be online friday and saturday every week.
Note:
I'm waiting for 1.13 as well, although I do have a 87 Barb who's geared for ubers. (on east)
About me:
Gaming History:
Played D2 for a long time off and on (ladder wise). Played WoW at lvl 60 as a main tank in a Naxx progressed guild, Last Stand and Ripco (both in top 50 in the world rankings at one point). Don't flame me for WoW, it was an awesome game pre-Burning Crusade. Also played CoD-UO way back in the day, #2 clan in TWL, and #1 rifles only 2v2 S&D team for 4 seasons straight on TWL.
Personal:
In college for Athletic Training, 2 more years to go! XD Getting married in 2011 (and she's already started planning it, and yes it does take some of my time lol). Love to have fun and relax when playing, but still a serious player.
Note:
Might have 2 friends come back for 1.13, not sure though.

Also belittling someone for having a different opinion than you is childish beyond belief. And the simple fact that you actually engage in grieving people in any game further proves my above point.
And I did respond to your point as to backstabbing in SC. And I did respond to your point as to carebearing and such, I don't believe the D3 team is doing such acts.
As I wasn't trying to start an argument when I first posted I will now stop posting, because just as Umpa stated, there is no point.
And no I'm not a "follower of Umpa" I am merely intelligent enough to respect his position and decision not to argue, just as I was respectful in saying that you have a right to voice your concerns.

Plus they have to balance the game, which is going to be different than D2. I mean wasn't D2 vastly different than D1? And anyone expecting D3 to be an upgraded version of D2 is fooling themselves. Besides who would buy that? Different story/better graphics? Who cares about that, Diablo (the game) has never been about that stuff anyway.
As far as feel goes, I don't think D2 has even 1% of the feel that D1 had, and it's still a great game.

1) I hope backstabbing remains an element of SC2. I don't play a lot of SC, and I'm not that great of an RTS player, but removal of this element would greatly reduce the fun of playing, especially in a Lan setting among friends.
2) Enough with the rainbows and unicorns crap. It was a joke, blizzard often does such things. And besides it was damn funny, I mean come on, all people were doing after seeing less than 10mins of gameplay was bitching about this and that and how "soft" it was...
3) As far as "dumbing the game down" goes... First off, the game isn't even close to half completed. If you had seen all the pre-release notes and production and trial and error that went into D2 you very likely would have said the EXACT same thing. After all look how much more user... err I mean noob friendly D2 was compared to D1.
4) Everytime I see someone complain about auto-stats or respec or many of the other "noob" additions to D3 I sigh and laugh. This being because while many people don't like these changes, many of us do. And I'm talking about the good players of D2. All to often people whom frequently post on a fan-site or forum think that they must be the only hardcore players of D2. But there's a lot more of us out there than that, maybe we don't play anymore but I mean come on it's been 5+ years since the game was big.
5) Whether you liked one particular feature of D2 is irrelevant when developers are designing a new and different game. Also many of the things we all got used to or maybe even liked were in fact broken systems. They did not function as intended and whether or not it added an element of difficulty is also irrelevant.
Now I'm not flaming you, I do respect your opinion and I think it's important that Blizzard gets feedback from all D2 players, especially the better ones. I'm just pointing out some of the reasons as to why I've chosen to put my faith in Blizzard. Besides after all faith is all we really have, they don't have to listen to us, and we will most likely buy and play D3 relentlessly.
<wall of text> crits you for 9192219 dmg... sorry about the length.
