Well don't worry, Blizzcon panelists said they really want you to feel like your moves are powerful by making them look like it visually, so yea, I'm sure all the classes will have cool moves. Every move I've seen so far (and i've demo'd) has been pretty epic for every class.

I didn't click it when I played the demo. It's less likely emotes and shit and more likely looking at people in game, inviting/chat options. It might even be incomplete since there's a lot they could do socially with the new Battle.net.

Well you have to look at the trees differently now, it's not the same class. The panelists emphasized the wizard being less of an elementalist and more of a universal manipulator, hence the inclusion of arcane. Lightning and frost spells are in the same tree--you may choose not to even pick the lightning choices depending on your style of play, but you can't look at it as well I don't like ice or I don't like lightning. It's now more of I'm not into the atmospheric/weather spells, I'm more into the arcane magic or the conjuring magic.

Yea, poison still poisons, ice still freezes, lightning stuns and fire ignites/explodes, but you're not going to have to make a choice like, "I want a fire hydra but disintegrate isn't my style," because well, they're in different trees. You won't have to make spec decisions based off elemental effects as much as you'll get a good assortment in any tree.

Hey ladranas I have a question

when you played as the Wizard, did you find any runes? if you did, and you attached them to a skill, could you then de-attach and re-attach them to another skill?

I played the wizard, and yes, you can, you can swap them out, move them to other skills, rearrange them in any way, any time you want. I got a rune for every spell and then some by the time I was done with the demo--they really wanted us to see the different effects and choices.

posted a message on Towns, Town Portals, and Waypoints :(
During one of the Blizzcon panels, one of the developers said they really wanted to make it feel like when you left town, you were leaving somewhere safe, and you couldn't just go back to being safe any time you want, so they have plans for not allowing you to just TP whenever you feel like, so likely will just be waypoints and no scrolls.

I don't know, it sounds like the people upset are the people who enjoyed exploiting flaws in the attribute and skill system, although that can get me some heat I'm sure for saying exploit as I'm sure many might think Blizz was hoping you'd ignore the existence of one stat or another or of 90% of the skills in the tree.

Also, you don't have to get skills you don't want. The point of the passive skills in trees is to allow you some utility in point spending in other trees you aren't as focused in, so if you want teleport, using D2 as an example, you don't have to get telekinesis, you can get a passive ability that will help your arcane tree or elemental tree or what have you without dumping a point or more in an active ability you don't intend to use.

posted a message on Take A Look: Health globes heal team?
Playing the demo, at least in playing a Wizard, I found it a lot easier to take damage than to find orbs and heal up.

The orbs didn't heal me early game the way potions heal you early game in D2 (full hp pretty quickly) and quickly made me choose to be more conservative about whether I picked people off as a Wizard with magic missile or disintegrate or dived into a group to do some frost nova or that ethereal blade thing aoe.

Personally, it made me think more, which is great, cause you really didn't have to think much to play D2, and it's cause the orb drops weren't that frequent nor that crazy in how quickly / how much hp is restored.

posted a message on Skills - Blizzard's Contradiction
The whole idea behind the skill system, from what I gathered at Blizzcon as they pushed it in multiple panels, is to make spending points actually effectual--in game play, in style, in look, etc. IE if you dumped points in Magic Missile, they wanted magic missile to look different from that (not implemented, just discussed). Runes also effect the spells. So in a certain light, we already have 3 or 4 different magic missile spells just from runes, different visually, different in how you use them, and we could potentially see more than that if they do decide to implement a change in how the spell works from dumping points as they discussed in the panel. Even if they didn't, 4 times 35 (from the number you gave) is 140. That's 140 different abilities between 3 classes, which means you have more active choices in your gameplay than you do passive choices. And that's just with the 4 current runes (is it 3? I don't remember)--I think we can be fairly sure they will add more.

So I wouldn't be concerned. Do you get to use all 140 or so active abilities? No. Why would you want to? The gameplay should be and is focused around the style that most appeals to you and there are plenty of choices in doing that imo.
