lolwut? No knowledge in economics? Gold sinks don't help inflation? Are you on something?

Monetary supply and demand... works like every other supply and demand curve. (Read: Monetary Supply)

Before you come around and try and throw your weight around, do some research first.

Yeah, I've been keeping up with it, I've got relatives up near Bergen that have been keeping me informed.

The friends in York, UK have just been laughing 'bout it.

Anyone on these forums Icelandic? I need to learn how to pronounce Eyjafjallajokull.

It was a day set up in 1988 as less a holiday, and more an "Everyone from every faith can pray for something on this day. Unity without Prejudice" So, quite literally, you could pray next to an Islamic dude (which people should be doing anyway, interacting in a positive way with people of other faiths and religions), and praying for the well being of the country, or praying for the troops to make it home swiftly and safely, or pray for the earthquake victims.

But games use economic models. It's evident in any multiplayer game with currency and trade-able gear. Hell, there are university classes that deal with economics in a virtual world. Monetary and Economic rules are applied period (because it's less the game, and more the people interacting within the game, and their monetary mindset).

Wowa, hold on there. You're talking about gold, correct?

Sorry, let me rephrase that sentence. Syntax man... I has none.

    2) There are a few things that Blizzard has stated that they will do to help the economy, and to prevent the exchange of virtual currency for live currency.

Well, first off, welcome to Diablo Fans.

But secondly, here are the few issues we run into when talking about this kind of stuff.

    1) Blizzard has very little control over sites that sell gear. It's a sad statement, but it's true. The people who have control over it? You and I. We live in a capitalistic economy. We have the ability to put any business out by speaking with our money... and that is, not buying their product. Unfortunately, that specific business thrives on people who do, in fact, purchase said items. It's sad, I know.

    2) There are a few things that Blizzard has stated that they will do to help the economy, and that includes third party trading of virtual items for real currency. The biggest and most prominent of it being the addition of the Bind on Equip mechanic for end-game items. By removing the amount of items that are available to be sold on the "black market", the prices will increase base on the rarity of the item. Higher prices will reduce the demand for the item, meaning that the "uber" items will likely not be sold, thusly putting them out of business.

These are a few things to think about when dealing with economies within virtual environments. Unfortunately, for every market, a sub-market grows. That's the way of the world.

I'm going to quote this article, because it needs to be quoted.

The rumor, as repeatedly posted on Facebook:

President Obama decided that there will no longer be a "National Day of Prayer" held in May. He doesn't want to offend anyone. Where was his concern about offending Christians last January when he allowed the Muslims to hold a day of prayer on the capitol grounds. As an American Christian "I am offended." if you agree, copy and paste ... See Moreno matter what religion you are. This country was built on freedom!

Obama cancelled the National Day of Prayer 2010. Well done Obama, well done.

Oh Our wonderful president is at it again .... he has cancelled the national day of prayer that is held at the white house every year .... sure glad I wasn't fooled into voting for him!

Wow! Last year around the time of the National Day of Prayer, Obama stated that the United States is not a Christian Nation and this year He has officially cancelled the National Day of Prayer.

The truth: President Obama has not, in fact, canceled the National Day of Prayer. Per a 1988 Act of Congress setting the observance on the first Thursday of every May, the U.S. National Day of Prayer will take place as usual on May 6, 2010.

The event took place as scheduled last year as well, though newly-elected President Obama broke with George W. Bush's practice of holding a White House ceremony on the occasion. Neither Obama nor any other White House entity stated that it was canceled so as "not to offend anybody."

You can read Barack Obama's 2009 National Day of Prayer Proclamation here.

    (Source)

I am neither Democrat nor Republican, and am not a Christian, but I'm getting rather tired when unfounded claims on BOTH sides are designed to sway the weak minded or uninformed to their own political agenda. Shame on them for using these tactics, and shame on other people for not doing their research.

Edit: The above remarks are solely to provide a non-bias towards this. This is in no way designed to flame, troll, or speak my spiritual or political views to anyone. I am simply warning people of what's going on.
