posted a message on How is death handled in Diablo 3?
    Quote from "RedRocks" »
Sorry, this is a bit of topic but when Makenshi compared the checkpoint system in the BlizzCon Demo to Titan Quest I remembered that I wondered how the damage dealt by a weapon/spell was displayed in Diablo 3. In Diablo II you had to be a brainiac if you wanted to know which weapon dealt most damage (with different attack speeds or castrate ...). Didn't Titans quest have a very nice system displaying average dmg/s ? It made gaming a lot easier. Does anyone know if average dmg/s will be displayed in D3?

It will be according to the weapons stats shown in the demo.

posted a message on Tim Hortons Owns Coffee Industry>
I find the coffee is very good about 60% of the time, and is completely burnt/ 80% water the other 40% of the time. Not to mention I think they are the most inefficient "fast food"(they are usually gravely slow) establishment I've ever been to. I can't speak for every Tim Horton's out there, but I can for the three or four I frequent, also I find questions asking as to whether ir is a restaurant or a coffee bran pretty funny, not because it is a stupid comment or anything, but just because here in Canada the name is as recognizable as Wal*Mart or MacDonalds that it's really weird to hear someone not know about it.

Late 2010 to mid 2011 seems reasonable to me, anything before that probably just wont happen unfortunately.

Hahahah, yeah, Saiyans use fireballs and those are a staple of any fantasy game.

I have a feeling the most we're going to get is some Christmas related art and perhaps if we are lucky a new skill/ monster or two. I think it will be pretty much limited to that and I think thats still being optimistic.

I hope they keep in in-game advertising to the absolute minimum, ff there is one thing Blizzard could do to ruin my impression of them it would be to have more in game advertising. I personally think there shouldn't be any in game advertising of any kind in any game considering I paid for a video game, not a glorified Nvidia ad(I realize this is impractical and will never happen).

posted a message on Knights or Samurai?
    Quote from "Murderface" »
We should be talking about the average samurai vs the average knight. Average knight wore chainmail, skullcap, leather garments, and maybe a breast plate. I'd say that average samurai armor is as good, if not better. Samurai have two swords called daisho (big and small). The wakazashi was worn on the opposite side in case defensive measures were needed. It was also used for ritual suicide. So we have two warriors, one with daisho and one with sheild and long sword. The knight would probably use a smite and stab method while the samurai would keep distance with his longer sword and would either stab or slash at the leather garments or neck. While the knight has a defensive advantage with his shield, the samurai has an offensive advantage with his daisho. In the off chance that the samurai wedges his katana into the sheild he could turn the odds in his favor by switching to his wakazashi and hooking it around the shield towards the neck while using the knights sheild as a defense from his longsword.

Ummm, as I know it the commonly used long swords of the Knight were actually longer than katanas usually utilized by Samurai, so they actually have no distance advantage.

If that's true then that sucks. Sacred 2, Divinity 2: Ego Draconis, Neverwinter Ngihts, Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2 are just few good RPGs that let you move the camera freely. They are all successful in their own and I don't understand why Blizzard's stick to their old formula. Was it because to retain the Diablo feeling or preventing their game to look similar from WoW? Whatever the reasons it just makes D3 one step behind from modern games in terms of technology.

EDIT: Just to add, Sacred 2, Fallout 3 and Neverwinter Nights to name a few are just few RPGs that migrated from fixed camera angle to full 3D and still get a very high scores (except from Sacred 2 which is still solid game in its own).

Did someone forget to tell me that Mass Effect 2 has been released!? Also, even if Blizzard chose to allow free camera movement before they certainly won't even think about it after the whole art fiasco.

I think the "Laser Beam" is quite cool and seems like it could add a good deal of interesting game play variation. Slowing time seems pretty cool too, i think that Blizzard had all these ideas when they were creating Diablo II but were unable to implement them because the technology was just non-existent. Now they have the ability to add pretty much all the cool stuff they want and now no one wants them too. If you want to play a game with the same old skills like "Blizzard" and "fireball" I suggest you stick to Diablo II, they did that perfectly.

Did you hear what I just said? Bashiok confirmed that any class can wear anything, and literally anything, except for an occasional class-specific weapon. (anything that meets the level requirement, that is)

    Yup, he sure did.

posted a message on here is a true angel
While I dislike holding a negative view on something like this, I believe Equinox is correct, whether or not this child's actions elevate him to the status of an angel or hero I have too often seen people being branded as "outstanding individuals" because they do something apparently selfless before death(Christopher Reeves anyone)? That doesn't necessarily mean that there are no more selfless people left though. If you disagree with such a view I'd advise you to just ignore it, if this story makes you feel good about yourself or others then you shouldn't allow anyone to take it from you, I doubt it would make you feel any better about the situation by arguing with it, and if anything it would tarnish this child's act.

posted a message on My horrible ideas
I've tried a Vengeance Paladin before, I got to around level 35 and proceeded to quit on him altogether because the mana cost was just through the roof and was way too high for my leech gear to compensate. Also, he wasn't killing stuff very well so I decided to make a Zealadin instead(he kicked ass).
