posted a message on What are your most favorite aspects of a Diablo game?

A couple of people have mentioned what they would change to D3 to make it better (or, really, either more like D3 vanilla or D2). That isn't the purpose of the poll to me - it's what about DIABLO that you really and truly love! "Low drop rates" is not something about Diablo you love. But maybe having truly rare items that you just have to force RNG to give you is!

For me, it's pretty simple - I love the loot hunt. I really enjoy the feeling when an items drops and I know it could possibly be an upgrade. It brings a little excitement back. I like the idea of truly "rare" items that you just have to farm and farm and farm and hope it drops. That's the main allure of Diablo, finding that one item you've been hunting for. I also enjoy mindlessly slaying demons, but hey, who doesn't?

The second most important thing for me is the story. The story in Diablo 1 was pretty simple, yet done well enough. The story in 2 was really strong, and the story in 3 was...ok. Not great, but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. In whatever the next installment of this game is, I'd love to see a really strong story, maybe tied to the return of some very powerful nephalem.

I'm indifferent to trading. I feel like it takes away from the loot hunt (a lot) and if you can just buy/trade to get your pieces then what is the point of playing the game? But I understand that some people don't want to do the loot hunter all day every day so I'm not against it. I don't have to participate if I don't want to trade. But if Blizzard has to make drop rates SO bad for the AH to function properly (see: Vanilla D3) then I think it's more detrimental than helpful.

I'm indifferent to PvP. I have no interest in it and think Nephalem fighting Nephalem when Diablo is out there makes no sense, but if they can work it in as more of a Nephalem training thing then I'm fine with it.

Has any one said a Diablo movie? Because that would be epic! Also if it is Diablo 4. Blizzard better fix the trading. Diablo 2 was so fun due to the trading. Also they better make it so items take a month to find again! Not this you can get fully geared In a day stuff. Also I agree make a better pvp. Some people say it's not a big factor but some players love pvp.ie make a pvp char that the skills are layed out different and pve with different skills for pve. Also go back to 8 man parties. And please for the love of god it's 2016 let us use our mics in game if we want. Also please please please make it so you can only set your skills once, then you have to remake your character if you want to try another build. This resetting your skills at any time is dumb. This is a game for adults not mindless children. Also keep the skill tree the same like d2 d3 don't go like poe but maybe give us more options with each character as far as skills to choose from. Also make sets do good damage for starting but making end game grinds and loots all about uniques. Man I hope blizzard reads this, if they used these ideas they would be bake to Diablo and not w/e direction they are going.

I have to echo the poster above me - The game you are describing IS Diablo 2. That game already exists. A Diablo 2 HD edition would be fine, I played and loved D2 myself...but if D4 is just a D2 clone it's going to crash hard because that game was already released.

I appreciate all the replies guys. It seems like Years of War is far and away the winner. It'd probably be a lot of fun for me too. I'm still intrigued by Sprinter, as I think I could find some other folks willing to pour 10-12 hours into practicing & perfecting it - which isn't much in the grand scheme of things. It's just that those 10-12 hours are kind of lost after that.

I see the appeal of hitting the leaderboards on Sprinter, but that time is done. Past that, it's more of just a curiosity. Years of War will get me into some new classes, sets, and playstyles. Somebody mentioned it, but it is very true that we're only 1.5 weeks into the season and my DH is already 2/6 on the Guardian step, so there really is a lot of time to work through this. I'll probably get back to Sprinter at the end of the season.

Now I just need to roll an ancient Yang's (big fan of UE) and GR70 should be a cinch. Back to speedfarming TX and levelling gems, I guess.

    Hi Stede.

Friends and I sped (at level 22) to SK and killed him in 17:30 on Hard difficulty, and we didn't really know what we were doing. I imagine we could get it done in 15 if we had to. Will you make up the 15 minutes it takes to get it? Probably not, but it'll be close and you'll have one for your cube.

posted a message on Quin's Itemization Rant

Quin's point is a good one, but I agree with other posters in that this has been a "problem" in Diablo since Reaper launched. Most players won't do any testing or theorycrafting themselves, they'll just look on the LB's and copy whatever build is out there. Build diversity is a myth, and for the most part doesn't exist. If you want to compete on the LB's you do one of the following:

    1. Farm all the time and copy someone's pushing build, to get a gear and paragon advantage
    2. Iterate new builds over and over, hoping to find something better than current meta.

How many people do you REALLY think are iterating new builds to compete on the LB's? Based on what the LB's look like right now...not very many. The top clears are almost all the exact same build.

If you aren't looking at the LB's, and you're just playing because you think it's a fun game to play, build diversity has always existed because you're only competing with yourself. You play what's fun with the combination of items you've found. These updates don't change that, they only make you excited (for seasonal players) to find your first Ancient Tzo Krin's if you want to play LoN Wave of Light. And every Tzo Krin's you find is possibly an upgrade until you find the "perfect" one.

posted a message on Whats the point of nerfing everything?

As someone who put together a Wave of Light build using the random ancients he had laying around in his stash, critting for 36b to an entire room...

Yes, LoN needed a nerf. 100% is probably too low, I imagine it'll come in around 150-200%. Still a lot of testing to do, at 100% I'm not competitive with new Uliana or Static Charge, but I don't have perfect ancient gear yet.

    Quote from Beelzebuhb»

There is no possible builds, so the spamm wrods coming from other " pro " player has nothing to do here. In 1 month will suposely release the patch or 2, so from there we can talk literally about the possible builds to round it. There is more better players which dnt stream or spotting on everywhere to say: checkit out, im on tip of iceberg.

If you don't like whats being discussed you can stay out of it. Quin talks a lot of sense and actually helps the player base with his videos. And whats wrong with him saying he's on top when he really was on top at the end of season 1. You got a problem with people speaking the truth? Or maybe you're just jealous.

Why don't you tell the guys here at Diablofans to stop posting datamined info on the front page? Cause as you said, in a month we'll have all the info and then, according to you, we can start talking "literally" about possible builds. Whatever that means.

I didn't know i needed your permission to make threads about monks.

Where i says taht u must ask me for making mks threads, kid ?.

Read again what i posted: we can speculate about what will not be from PTR to new patch 2.2 or Season 3, END OF CONVERSATION. Also, there is more pro players which dnt need to stream, not the only way to express: im a pro and i understand about this game :) Dictionary.com ----- > jealous and truth, then come backto here and speak me to my face what means and when to say / reply it on comments.

Apart that Quin player posted only 3 possible builds when tehre is 9 when released PTR.

For serenity ( which now are fixed and it take effects after lasts inmunity, but can keep spamming by other way with same Zodiac ring if you dnt know it or that " pro player " ) spamm also you can deal with same ring +a tip keyboard which its a natural way to do it really easy and completely legal cos u are doing manually, and u only neeed 23 RCR + 45 - 50 CDR as a must. But hey, we arent pro players cos we dnt stream... oh reallly ?.

I read again what you said, which was "This post is worthless because I don't need some streamer to tell me how to play the game."

So, like said above, you have some beef with this specific streamer, which is fine, but don't call out other people posting ideas from the PTR. We all know it's speculation...that's why it's on the test server...

Ha ha yah sometimes different lingo people use can be challenging. It took me a while to realize people were talking about legendary items when typing "legs." I was confused as to why people were talking about pants all the time...

    Quote from Zero(pS)

=/ and so, history repeats itself...

It's one of the hardest things I had to learn when I started playing D3: doing it without expecting things to happen, and let them happen naturally, and enjoy it when they do. That kind of anticipation usually leads to major frustrations with the game. Specially for things like "legendaries/hour".

Random is in the very nature of a game like Diablo 3. I really hope everyone returning for patch 2.0/RoS understand that hasn't changed, and never will.

I can see this getting particularly bad when people start seeing friends with awesome Sets and they haven't completed one themselves (in like 200 hours played).
This happened to me a little earlier - someone mentioned they'd completed their Tal's set already and for a moment I was sad/frustrated, but in the end it just increases my desire to destroy packs of mobs looking for the 3 peices I need!

    RNG is evil.

I believe the term is "Cursed Chest," which may have led to part of the barrage of questions you may have received. I was also confused as to what "box" farming was, only to find out it was just a semantic difference between what we called it. :)

posted a message on Is this Diablo anymore?
    Quote from IamDiablo

I agree it sucked you had to restart your character If you messed it up however this supposedly was fixed and I cannot confirm this cause I play D3 now lol but about your illusion of choice example. There was an absolute "best" build for Diablo 3 too, this is the same illusion aspect you are talking about for Diablo 2.People will always copy/follow the best build and still do to this day in Diablo 3.Yeah it may change now that we have decent items but we don't know yet but will soon find out in RoS. In diablo 2 though I had a amazon tank, that wasn't a "Best" build but it was fun, and I was able to do it. I cant say the same about Diablo 3. What if I wanted to be a wiz tank to stand in center of mobs and tank them all. I cant why? Because wizards are squishy period. Could I do this in Diablo 2, I sure could you know why? Because I was able to allocate my stat points where I WANTED not where Blizzard wants them.
In D2 there was a build. You put X points in this skill, X points in that skill, 1 point in whatever required only 1, and nothing in anything else. There was no variation. There is no choice.

In D3 1.0, once you got to a certain level in Inferno (and for me it was right at Inferno) it was incredibly difficult to complete any content unless you: 1) Bought your items on the AH AND 2) went with a specific build. There was very little choice.

In D3 2.0, I can find my own gear and upgrades in T2, and I can use a variation of builds from any element I feel like playing, and not die every 15 seconds. The current D3 experience is more enjoyable than any other Diablo experience I've ever had. Maybe when we get to RoS and 70, that'll change and only one or two builds will be viable. But right now I have choices.

To address your point about stat points - If you want to be a tank wizard keep items with toughness stats, like AR and LoH. There are a lot of defensive stats on item rolls now and I'm sure you could build a pretty tanky Cold wizard if you had the right itemization. Another great example of actually having meaningful choices.
