its been stated. the only way they could do that is by announcing diablo3 in development, and 2x release dates (WOTLK + SC2) which isnt going to happen, not a financially sound idea to do that.

"Dont put all your eggs in one basket" is something we learn even as children.

I think it makes perfect sense

    Think about this:

With an announcement of a release date on the gaming industries biggest titles, it secures the market.

In theory here would be tentative release dates:

Wotlk: Late 2008 (November 3 is tentative)
    SC2: Late 2008-Mid 2009 (Dec 12 tentative date)
Diablo 3: Late 2009 to Mid 2010 or later (no date of course)

This idea secures the market share for the next 2-3 years if announced, it will cause hype, sales, excitement, etc

A good theory, and one that's already been said 1,000 times. :D

I'll give you a break though, as this is something that makes sense, and itsn't useless babbling or a ' ZOMG JOB POSTINGS! "

Yea I apologize, I work at a call center with no internet :( well they have internet but will fire you if you use it for anything non-work related...

So I get home and try and read forums as fast as possible...

So if I posted something that has already been posted, don't flame please :P

I just thought it was relevant information

dont ban me ;) never thought about this though.

Hel Rune = Diablo 3 announcement

Protoss symbol = Starcraft 2 release date?

Frostmourne symbol = Wrath of the Litch King released

Also consider "Project Hydra" = multi-headed, multiple announcements!

    good theory imo

lol i was just on worldofraids.com

-Everybody there pretty much thinks its a release date for Wotlk...

I must say they are tools for arguing such.

Ebgames/Gamestop is pretty much deadon barring any delays in testing/production to announce release dates way ahead of schedule...there is already a tentative release date for wotlk for the pre-orders to ship 11/3/2008 and in my experience, they are pretty spot on when it comes to dates like that.

Starcraft 2 also has a tentative release date of 12/3/2008 (more than likely going to change a little later)

Really there is no explanation for why people thing ALL THIS HYPE is for a release date.

I know this has arleady been mentioned in every day's threads so far but it still astonishes me to find people still arguing that it is simply a release date. I would NEVER buy another blizzard made product if they hype every diablo fan up for a release date for an already known product....

Did everyone forget Blizz purchased Diablo3.com??? If its not going to be announced, its at least going to be released at some point. Thats 100% to me that D will eventually come if not sooner than expected. C'on, dont lose hope here. If we lose hope, WoW.com wins. You know how bad Diablo fans hate to lose.

If i remember right, blizzard did not buy diablo3.com rather it was handed over to them through good faith (although im not the owner of diablo3.com so I do not know how the business transaction went down.)

Reason the First: Blizzard's Big Tease
Remember when we said the teaser image that showed up on a Blizzard splash screen the other day was most likely for Wrath of the Lich King? Uh, we're going to have to call a mulligan on that. There have been some updates to the image since it first showed up, and while it's not conclusively pointing toward Diablo III, it's certainly not conclusively pointing toward Wrath of the Lich King, either.
DiabloFans has done some bang-up detective work on this, and they've discovered a number of interesting aspects to the tease. When it first showed up, there was an image visible in the ice that resembled a rune from the Frostmourne sword, which Warcraft fans would know seemed to suggest a Wrath of the Lich King connection. But yesterday, another rune showed up that clearly resembled the Hel Rune from Diablo II. Confirmation! Clearly this means the teaser points to a Diablo III announcement, right?
Well, not necessarily. There was yet another update today, and this time there's a rune resembling the Akilae Tribe symbol from Starcraft II. This means all three of Blizzard's big franchises have gotten a nod in the tease so far, with two more runes likely showing up tomorrow and Friday. Confusing things even further is that with each day, an additional segment of a piece of concept art has been revealed in the master.CSS of the splash page, and when put together it evidently may be some sort of...monstrous penguin?
Okay, so what does it all mean? Well...hell if we know, to be honest. But it is worth noting, as DiabloFans has, that so far the runes are shaping up into what may work out into a pentagram shape. Pentagrams are certainly hellish, aren't they? And not for nothing, but it does look like that ice is melting as though something really hot was underneath. Doesn't it? Doesn't it? Hmm....
    Reason the Second: Diablo's Domain
While we're on the subject, guess what DiabloFans.com used to be called? Diablo3.com, until Blizzard acquired the domain name from the site's owner back in May. Website domain names are registered for plenty of reasons, though; it could be as simple as a company wanting the peace of mind of owning every possible aspect of their IP. We would have easily guessed Blizzard's intentions were simply cautionary, but the timing (and all the additional evidence surrounding it) makes us wonder if they don't have bigger intentions for the site after all. Every now and then a company has to register a domain name because they actually plan to use it, right?
Reason the Third: We Know a New Game Announcement is Coming
That is, at least, if Xfire is to be believed. Back on Friday the 13 (spooky!), DiabloII.com noticed a now-edited update on Xfire regarding the Invitational, which originally read in part, "follow the opening ceremony and discover what new game will be announced in our chat rooms together with hundreds of other Blizzard fans." Yes, new game (which happens to be the part of the announcement that was later redacted). Of course, that doesn't at all mean it's necessarily Diablo III, but again, added with all the other evidence, it sure is easy to read it that way.
Reason the Fourth: A German Magazine Said So (Sort of)
Okay, we're getting a bit desperate here, but what the hell -- no self-respecting bout of wild speculation is complete until you scrape the bottom of the barrel. Earlier this month, Blizzplanet posted a story they picked up from German magazine PC Action. In its latest issue, the mag printed this scintillating riddle (translated from its original German):
"30.05.2008 10:55 - We found out some secret information about a much awaited game, from a very well known game developer, whom we can't name. Sounds extremely important, doesn't it? Let's say: Pure thought about it makes our bedsheets wet. Got any ideas? Post them in the comments. Even if the hell froze and cows gave beer - we would spill nothing out!"
You see, because they said hell, and they said cows, they may be hinting at Diablo III! ("Cows" being a reference to the secret Cow Level in Diablo II.) Hey, we said bottom of the barrel, didn't we?
Reason the Fifth: What Else Would Blizzard Make?
Look, there are two certainties in life -- Macho Man Randy Savage is the baddest dude on the planet, and corporations will do whatever makes them money. Square Enix will probably remake Final Fantasy VII, George Lucas will probably make another proper Star Wars movie (and we don't mean this Clone Wars crap), and Blizzard will make Diablo III.
In fact, they kind of already did -- we have it on good authority that Diablo-creator Blizzard North was working on Diablo III back in 2005, before the studio was dissolved in August of that year, and the game was scrapped. And as recently as 2006, Blizzard was still hinting at wanting to continue the Diablo franchise, when COO Paul Sams said in an interview, "StarCraft is my absolutely favorite game of all time. As you probably already know, there is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise, and trust me, I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2." If we at least know Blizzard wanted to make Diablo III at one point, why would anything have changed since then?
And really, barring a Diablo III announcement, what else would Blizzard make? World of Warcraft is a self-perpetuating machine (with a brand new expansion incoming), Starcraft II is on its way sometime this year, and unless Blizzard is planning to announce The Lost Vikings 3: Vegas Stakes, that only leaves Diablo as the last (recently) untapped major franchise from the star developer. A recently untapped franchise that, when tapped again, will probably earn Blizzard another nonillion damn dollars.
To cut to the chase: If there isn't a Diablo III announcement by the end of this week, we'll eat our hats. (Please don't hold us to that, though.)

One thing we havn't even discussed (that I know of) is the circle surrounding the emblems, do thay have signifigance?

Only thing i would think of would be a formation like a pentagram's circle.

Maybe to hold in the powers of the runes? (Far stretch)
