old news. Blizzard said it was a missunderstanding between Blizzard and Vivendi. They also said they definitely plan single-player titles. Its possible to see more MMORPGs from Blizzard but we'll definitely get some more sing-player titles too (prolly Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 at least).

guns aint part of the Diablo universe. Its like suggesting elves and dwarves. just wont fit to the game.

possible, i didnt say its official (the site says unofficial too). And both games they're making are PC only projects.

here's something new...

there have been dozens of games with the same concept as Diablo (Darkstone, Sacred, Titan Quest just a few that came to my mind). none managed to be so addictive as the original, tho. I think thats the main reason Blizzard doesnt get pissed off about it. They're the only ones able to make a "diablo killer". The only Diablo 2 killer will be Diablo 3 and i hope they wont take too long till they release it

as for the Titan Quest graphics (playing it these days) that engine would be ok if it wasnt that bright. Even in the crypts i never get the creepy feeling i got in the Durance of Hate.

i hope Diablo 3 will take some of the UI comfort from WoW. merc commands like the pets in WoW would be really cool. Also make gold more important than in Diablo 2. Also some more usefull abilities on mercs would be nice.

Only a mmo would have the freedom to let u choose ur side. And personally i dont think D3 will be one.

dont forget that there are people that only want one of those games. I wouldnt buy Starcraft 2 if it comes out. I'm a Diablo fan. Even if they release both at the same time they wont loose customers. Most people would only buy 1 game at a time, thats right, but imagine how many people that play other kinds of RTS like Age of Empires III, the new Command & Conquer and some of the new stuff that come out would run and buy SC 2.
Now on the other hand since Diablo 2 there have been tons of copies (Sacred and Titan Quest are 2 of the most successfull ones) but none good enough to even compete with the 6 year old Diablo 2. Imagine how many people would/will buy this if/when it comes out.

You should realize that Starcraft is an RTS and Diablo is a hack & slash rpg. Each game will attract different kinds of gamers. And tons of them. Blizzard has nothing to loose by releasing them together.

Starcraft has the potential to become one hell of a mmo, alright. Theres a big BUT in this, tho. Starcraft is the best selling RTS franchise in the world atm. Vivendi has the Starcraft as a potential mmo, but it would be simply stupid for them to make it this way so early. A possible release of Starcraft 2 would make every RTS fan go insane. Even now the Starcraft + expansion Brood War is extremely popular, especially in Asia.

As for the RTS series of Warcraft, it isnt over yet (thats what Chris Metzen said on an interview). He said about WoW and the instance about to be implemented with the coming expansion: "Through the caverns of time we will be able to replay battles from the older strategy games, or maybe later some of the battles from Warcraft 4".

Blizzard has such a marketing sector that will use their franchise and get much more money. Thats the main reason they wont announce their "under development" games before the WoW expansion (Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 say hello) and thats the main reason they'll take their time with another coming MMO (i'm guessing something with the Diablo universe after WoW goes old - 4-5 years from now minimum).

looks like an interesting mod. might check it out sometime.

i dont think there will be a choice between light & darkness. Its not Diablo style. We'll get a story where we're the good humans and have to fight against the forces of hell (i'm guessing all 7 united but cant know for sure).

this whole choosing who you're fighting with looks more like a mmo to me and i dont expect D3 to be one. I'd also expect kind of an open ending for a mmo (cause now Blizzard will definitely make one after the end of the trilogy).
