I would be really disappointed if they made D3 all dark and washed out. For now it looks more gothic and vibrant than many locations in D2. Also, you can't expect to have the entire game all dark and choking! There has to be a contrast somewhere for hell's sake!
Yes because the screenshots of d3 are not washed out? Just look at the grass texture, it looks like your character is walking on a giant hand-painted and downright flat picture.
