Somewhere on the Diablo 3 site it says that Tristram was rebuilt and that adventurers continued to loot the remains of the dungeon beneath the Cathedral until all treasure of value to them was gone. Maybe they rebuilt the actual Cathedral part of the town as well.
Give us something beyond hell mode, GOD MODE! something truly elite for us that think hell just not enough.
Ever play Sacred? That game had 5 difficulties. That KILLED it for me. It was pointless and boring after the 3rd time through with the same character. Sometimes there is too much of a good thing...
It's a really nice site, but then again this is Blizzard. Everything they do is incredibly polished, so I can't say I'm really surprised. Now if only they updated it everyday with 1 new thing (whether it be a screenshot, artwork, movie, new character class, area, monster, item type, bit of info, bit of lore etc.) until the day of release, I would be really happy
Personally, I like the way the current D3 system sounds like it will work with potions being more of a "save me" feature rather than a "everytime I'm slightly hurt I take one of these" feature. It puts more focus on combat and less focus on keeping a full belt of pots.
But what if the skill system in D3 is 3X more complexe than in D2, I certainly would welcome respecs. Plus it would make easier to test different builds. You still have planning to do though.
And of course the price must be great.
I'm not saying respecs are a bad thing, I just like the feeling when I have created a character, and it really feels like a character and not just a template that can be switched around at will. What makes my character different from everyone elses? It also adds a measure of replayability to the game, and a reason to replay with the same class.
As far as testing builds, that's what singleplayer + character editors are for
An editor has nothing to do with the game being great.
Not directly, no. But the addition of an editor would do 3 things:
1)Take away from resources actually helping to develop the core game
2)Complicate the game, which the discussion panel has already said is something they don't want to do
3)Divide the playerbase between "purists" and the like playing on closed bnet and people who play user created content on open bnet.
In the case of Diablo 3, I think the division of the playerbase will only serve to shorten the game's lifespan by a dramatic amount because closed bnet will never adopt the user created content (if this part of bnet remains the same, and closed bnet is what has kept D2 alive).
I don't think it's worth their time or effort to be honest. I'd rather have them focus on making a game so great that I wouldn't even feel the need to use someone else's creations.
If it's so easy to restart a character, then it's just another reason to implement it.
I disagree. You should have to think about your character rather than just picking skills in a nonchalant fashion, knowing there is the option to respec.
If it's relatively easy to level to a high level, then no, there should be no respecs (It takes like 2 days to hit 80+ in D2 even without rushes). If there is no way to quickly gain levels, such as baal runs, then I would like to be able to respec, so long as it's not cheap.
One word .... No. Not only would it delay development time, but the only Blizzard game that I can see on consoles is if they did a new Lost Vikings game.

It wasn't perfect, but what it confirmed to me is that the wait for it to be released is going to be excruciating.
