now where would I put this...

but really, it's most definitely: "your death... WILLLLLL be avenged!" - sorcerer, after the "please, listen to me..." speech before first entering the church.

in my opinion, desaturating a screenshot in photoshop isn't a new art style. I'll admit that the game looks different than I envisioned in my own head, but it also looks pretty awesome in its own right. I'm choosing to get excited by how it does look, rather than frustrated that it doesn't more closely resemble a pixelated 2d art style that, while certainly great and I love it far too much to speak ill of it, is simply almost a decade outdated.

there is no direct translation between the old diablo artstyles and the ones so many of us hoped for, only interpretations.

also, stripping an image of its color does not automatically give it emotional impact. color can and often does have incredible impact on our perceptions of mood and emotion. read up on some color theory, it's fascinating stuff.

yeah, would kinda be wasted resources in my opinion. I mean don't get me wrong I love character customization, but you get covered in armor pretty quickly and then you don't get to see any of that customized detail anyways.

I think it would be a better use of art resources to provides lots and lots of visual armor options, since thats what you'll actually be seeing.

that said, I like how both the characters you can really see at this point look. back in d2 I woulda traded all my gold to a barber to chop off the ridiculous ponytail that the barbarian was sporting. but you know, back to my original point: I had to look at that ponytail for all of 5 minutes until I picked up my first cracked cap and then I never saw it again.

I love customization, but it just makes more sense to have more armor options than face options you'll rarely get to see.
