Why do people put online and rushing into the same category? I see no reason why you cannot start online, enjoy the scenery and the lore AND your friends and others, without feeling like you need to rush through it.

I'm starting online with whoever is around. I'll have friends who will play and we'll be on battle.net. Single player will be reserved for days when my internet is down or I am downloading something which takes too much bandwidth.

I never noticed this... it makes armor less durable? Or what?

Every death hurts your armour. And after a while you'll have to go repair. My memory is fuzzy since I haven't played Diablo II in a long time but I think thats how it was. At least I do remember having to go repair multiple times because my armour and weapons were damaged/broken and I'm sure part of that was after deaths.

May I remind you that there was no xp loss in D2 until you hit nightmare/hell mode? Was that game a joke?

hmm, i forgot about that part. Either way no it's not a joke since it has a death penalty. In normal mode you still get hit for armour durability. Which after a while is enough incentive to not to die. Your post makes no sense since Diablo II did have a death penalty and it only got greater in higher difficulties.

Yeah, sucks when your head gets bitten off or something.
BTW that wasn't a boss haha.

I'm sure part of your body will still be there for you to collect your items from, and you might just have to go looking around for your head to find that helm of yours.

do we have a source for any of this or are we all just guestimating?

everyone is just guessing. More or less saying what they would want to see.

I would actually love to see the Diablo II style running back to your body death. For the penalty I think it should be some EXP, but unable to lose a level/go into negative exp. It's not that big of a deal, just watch yourself. EXP loss is the only death penalty that will get people to watch out. Oh and preferably damage to armour as well.

take a look at AoC, with no death penalty that game is a joke. There needs to be a penalty, for PvE deaths only. PvP shouldn't have as much, or a penalty at all. On the topic of PvP, i really hope we can collect the players ears of who we killed. Those were always fun, especially when you keep it and then trade it back to the person later on when you happen to meet them for a trade.

The first time I watched the video I didn't even think about the graphics. All I was noting on was the more important aspects, like the game play, flow, and characters (which I loved, Witch Doctor will be awesome). It wasn't until I came on to the forums and seen the many threads on the graphics that I had actually payed attention to them, and I saw nothing wrong with them, in fact, they were great in my opinion. It's still early in the making, so changes will be made, all I know is that whatever they do, I will play D3 for years.

Just wondering when will we get our next fix of news. Hope they do something monthly. Watching the gameplay video over and over might drive me crazy after a couple of months.

I think the saturation of the colours, especially in that dungeon, can be toned down a bit. I didn't like the graphics for the first 5 seconds of the gameplay trailer. I was really enjoying it after I got over the initial shock and can't wait to get more information about Diablo III. Too many people are judging this game based on speculations. Nothing has been revealed really, so there is nothing much to judge. Wait some time until things are sorted out.

Where have you heard this ?

took the quote from the gamplay trailer when the chest loot drops a bit too seriously it seems. So he has no actual proof, just over-exaggerating details.

posted a message on Who's getting a New PC for D3?
I'll be getting a new computer by next christmas anyway most likely. But I won't upgrade for just a game. I am playing AoC on a 7800GT and a Opteron 165 and 2GB of corsair value select DDR just fine on modified High settings (mainly shadowed turned off) everything else looks identical to pretty much everybodies game on high. People just don't know how to take care of their computers and how to optimize their performance by playing around with the settings and finding out which ones hurt performance the most. I am slowly getting into 3d modeling and animation so my computer will be built for that, not for gaming, but of course i'll be doing some gaming on the side.

posted a message on What do you all hope the market will be driven by?
I wouldn't mind it based off of currency. But either way you are farming for whatever item(s) are considered the main currency. It all depends on how the community starts out, if they start out trading gold then gold will be the standard, if they start trading items then that will most likely stay the norm. I just hope that it's loot table will have many similarities with diablo II. Especially the ethereal items, those were fun.

gah, i missed it, anyone wanna give me and others the basics of it? :P

"awesome" is the only word i can remember, everything else was pretty bland. Questions from audience were complete crap. Developers had some interesting points at times but nothing special since I really don't remember much of it.

Nothing has happened for the past 30 minutes on the main stage live stream. Could someone tell me when the D3 panel will be, Atlantic time?

you missed it, and learn to read the schedule. It was on Stage 2.

Dude this octoshape is so fcked up. Blizzard better get a new service for Blizzcon.

Can someone please post the questions/answers later?

I'm having no issues with the player or the feed and haven't had problems these 2 days. The only "issue" i have is it sometimes needs to rebuffer. I'm watching the 1000kbit version, with the 400kbit version i was having issues connecting to it. I'm fine if they use this for Blizzcon as well.

The questions and answers i'm sure will be posted right after the session is over.

They could have simply also not had the available art talent to continue in the Gothic style after the artists working for the North left.

The one thing blizzard is not lacking is artistic talent. Blizzard's cinematics are second to none in the world. You cannot find game trailers with as much detail as Blizzard puts in, you can hardly find movie trailers with as much detail.

"Gothic" style as you put it seems to pretty much mean dark, no saturation and flat. Thats not what I want a game to look like in this day and age. Dungeons should be dark but the outside should not be. The evils have been gone for 20 years, the world is rebuilding itself. So far we know nothing of the rest of the story and the rest of the areas. The world at this point has no reason to be dark.

"Cartoony" does not have a set definition, just like cartoons have no set art style. You can call anything cartoony for whatever reason.

I do agree that the games palette needs to be a bit less saturated and a bit darker, but thats not a game breaking issue since graphics do not affect the gameplay and I enjoyed the graphics in the gameplay trailer enough that I can live with them if it was to be like that during live.

jesus people, we've hardly seen any of the game for one. And on top of that the prime evils have been gone for some 20 years, i see no reason why the world cannot look brighter. Maybe a tad bit less saturation overall but the pictures in the OP are going too far. Places like dungeons and forests need to be dark but when you are outside I see no reason for the same colour palette as when you are underground. Diablo I and II were set in a time when the world of Sanctuary was going through very dark times. Diablo III is set so far with the world rebuilding itself and a lot do not even know about the previous events. And besides, since when is the first gameplay trailer look anything like the final product? I thought it looked great but the dungeon needed to be a bit darker. To the person who said 3d graphics have limitations, it's actually your hardware which is limiting it. The one thing that very few can get right in 3d right now are females. With their light smooth skin it's very hard to get them to look real. But men with hair and cuts all over the place can be done very well just because all the extra detail takes away from the smoothness of the skin. So, it's skin which is the problem but I've seen some amazing works on skin textures from a couple of people and if blizzard used their ideas then they will be golden.
