From my experience, most Holy-type Crusaders use Starweaver, Gogok and BotP gems. These are usually the standard gems unless they swap out the Gogok for something else.
As far as I know, slows work with the gem as I use my Thunderfury procs on my pet doc (with rain of toads) to amplify my pets damage. I've noticed a difference that my big ZDog damage jumps up another 10-15m per hit while my fetishes hit for about 1-2M each against targets that have been affected by the lightening proc. so I can confirm from personal experience that it works with slows, and it's super effective if you use tfury and have decent proc rates.
From what I have tried, using shield bash as your wrath dump, I found I had difficulty in t4+ in terms of sustain. Because the wrath cost is so low, you don't get enough healing to mitigate some of the damage, I really suggest Blessed Shield Combust as a second wrath dump when you need some healing.
I had recently joined the Crusaders March community and came around something of a discussion in the channel about Akarat's Awakening. For those of you who don't know, this is the shield I am referring to. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/akarats-awakening I had initially two of these shields with some relatively poor rolls, but had around 35% block chance with one of them. I had went to test this proc effect (mine had a 23% chance to proc). and found it very underwhelming compared to the actual bonus of running with Hellskull and the removal of the movespeed cap from Heavenly Strength.
Unfortunately, when I tried to make a case that the proc effect wasn't that strong if you are already around 35%+ CDR, there was a lot of negative comments, and a lot of discussion wasn't really happening more like "ur a noob" kind of comments. So I wanted to ask those Crusaders who have this shield (and have Hellskulls) if the proc on Akarat's Awakening happens often enough to make this shield valuable when you have higher amounts of CDR? Or is the effect of Hellskull movement speed cap removal a better effect to have with the same amount of CDR? I have quite a number of my friends (who play crusader at t5-t6) saying that in higher Torments that movement speed is way more effective than Akarat's proc effect. Any thoughts? Thanks.
