They probably are working on a Diablo MMO simultaneously with a Diablo III RPG

That I can believe, and hope for. It would explain all the posts on Blizzard's site for "top secret jobs" versus "top secret MMO jobs." It would also be logical that Blizz is looking ahead past WoW to keep them on top of the MMO market in 3, 5, or even ten years with a Diablo MMO.

I'd love a Diablo MMO but I think its very unlikely.....unless they're not planning on releasing it for at the very least 5+ years. I think D3 will be out well before that, in a non MMO fasion.

... its long been known that France has some die hard Diablo fans.

I've heard that many times on this website. Anyone know where I can see some evidence to back that up? Like Diablo 2 sales by country or something?

Dude, you've got a lot of waiting to do. If they announce D3 in June, knowing Blizzard, the game will be shipped at *least* in Christmas 2009.

very likely to be true. People are hoping that the game is much further along in development, and I must admit I hope for that as well. But the most likely scenario is at LEAST another year and a half after the announcement before the game ships.

Why do people think it's not big news that Blizzard acquired Diablo3.com? There is a huge difference between buying up Diablo domain names that aren't being used, and buying up Diablo domain names that have over 20 thousand fans registered.

also, those who are disappointed clearly don't realize the significance of this domain name purchase. if you'd been hanging on to every thread of a rumor that popped up the past few years, you'd be starving for something like this. if Blizzard bought Diablo3.com, you can be sure they bought it to use it.

I'm going to guess 180k views.....the view count should go way up in the last 12 hours or so

That was 26 hours ago, and this thread was at 110k views. It now sits at about 141k views. I might just be right lol (if the views spike as much as I had hoped they will).....I hope the site doesnt go down before it hits 180k :)

anyone else feel like this thread has turned into a "golden-ticket" hunt? maybe on May 1st they'll announce a contest whereby they'll hide "Golden BlizzPasses" inside certain elite mobs. A lucky 5 looters will find these BlizzPasses and will merit a tour of the Blizzard Headquarters, complete with a sneak peak at Blizz's top secret Team 3 project...and a lifetime supply of chocolate

    ;)

posted a message on Update on the unannounced MMO!
Hey all, long time visitor, first time poster....

Anyways I haven't read through all the posts so this may have been said before, but I'm just wondering, isn't it possible that D3 can be a MMO game without being "like world of warcraft"? Since that seems to be what everyone is afraid of, I don't think there's any reason to believe that Blizzard's new MMO will be an mmoRPG (since this would compete directly with WoW).
I mean, its totally possible to have a game that plays just like the Diablo series we love (aka 2-d hack n slash), and still allow for 100 people to walk through the streets of Tristram, or a 40-man raid on Diablo's lair. It would just mean a change in the way experience is earned or quests are accomplished. It seems like a natural progression and an innovation in the area of MMO games for Blizzard to take this style of play and adapt it for the MMO era.
