I didn't get the best Thunderfury roll so I've started using my Serpent's Sparker with this build. Then replace EE with Conflaguration. I must say I have noticed an improvement in damage output. I have not run any DPS tests but for me at least, until I get a better TF I will be sticking with the SS.So I am gaining additional AoE fire DoT damage but sacrifice Lightning (and possibly cold) damage for EE and the CC effect from the lighting proc.
I'm curious to know if anyone else has tried this and what their thoughts are? Or if you have a stronger TF then it may not be worth it.
Quote from Jamthe» The reason I mentioned vit is because I run with a MM / Vyr's fire build and I have decided to drop MM damage because when I am fully geared up I plan to be in Archon maybe about 50% of the time. That means when I am in Archon MM damage will not help me, but mitigation will help for both states.
Because you are also using Vyr's you will be looking to add some CDR, I personally feel that there is not much room for CDR and MM% damage. I'm not saying you can't make it work, but it will be harder.
My current build in case you are interested, ignore the skills I was speed running bounties when I logged out. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Jamthe-1950/hero/45668158
It's strange we have almost the exact same gear, except I haven't been lucky enough to find SoJ yet.

As I said in my prev post, the first enchant I tried it came up with +15%MM dmg, but you make a good point about being in Arcon half the time anyway so probably +vit might very well be my best option.
I thought I was looking at my own profile just then, both our underwhelming TF's are very similar!

It really depends on your build.Do you need the vit? Sources can roll up to 750, that's very nice. Other options could be: +15% to your existing spender
Area damage
I guess I can not answer any of those questions yet, my gear/build is still very much work in progress. Until then I have decided I will wait until I have more of my end game gear before I roll as this makes most sense.
Thanks for everyone's input, it's been most appreciated.
To give everyone more info, this is a normal rare ring.I am currently an AT tanky channelling wiz, which is why I am considering losing the IAS.
I will be more specific now that people have given me their opinions, it seems to be between IAS or AR as I expected. I am kind of thinking long term on this ring rather then my immediate needs, unless of course there will be far superior ones to use.
@Bagstone thanks for that link, it was very informative!
I guess I have specific questions now.
Are channelling wizards especially tanky ones still viable in higher Torment levels and will AR be very important for survivability?
I'm an old player who just came back to play RoS and just got a decent ring.
I want to re-roll one of the stats on this new ring but not sure which one, I'm leaning towards attack speed but could do with some advice from more people. Since CM wizards are no more I assume I can sacrifice attack speed, or are there some special builds which would benefit from this?
Here are the stats:
Resist 87
Attack speed 6%
Crit damage 47%
Crit chance 5.5%
3226 Life on kill
CC reduction 20%
