WoW actually IS pretty immersive if you don't talk to idiots.

Yes. The Warcraft universe is immersive on the whole, actually.

"-D1 and D2 both had many colorful places with minimum blood and corpses, take the desert in D2 Act2, for god's sake, it was a BRIGHT YELLOW desert in MID-DAY, who more bright could it get, even the tombs there were all degrees of orange and yellow with minimum corpses or blood around maybe non at all, only the Catacombs under the city had skinned corpses and blood, ONE dungeon out of 10 or more in the whole Act, and each act only had one or two places with blood and corpses not the whole freaking game."

This is my point! The bright areas in the new game are not as fitting as the ones in the game's predecessors! Even the outdoors don't look like Diablo!

    OH THE IDIOCY!

"and of course the boring baseless argument " it looks like WoW ""

JESUS CHRIST! The DEVS admitted that it looks like WoW! They, in their art panel discussed to LENGTHS that the "stylized" appearance of their game is basically a TRADEMARK for them. HOW MORE OBVIOUS CAN IT BE FOR FUCKS SAKE. They said it themselves! What part of Blizzard's Art Philosophy don't you understand?

You do know Blizzard will take no notice, and continue with there, "silly wow-colourful game". I really don't see the connection between them. I didn't know there was so much hate behind a colourful game. Seems to me you want this game to make you more depressed then you are already.

    Ever heard of immersion?

i still dont understand why people say graphics make the game, if it doesnt have the graphics they want then the game sucks. i Play for the sake of having fun, going through the storyline, and ripping demons apart. i could care less about graphics at all. There was only 20 mins of gameplay, its not liek thats the only area in D3...this isnt diablo one where its just about one big dungeon. This is D3, an expanded world upon sanctuary. its change, deal with it, stop crying. it kept the isometric view, sotryline, hack.slash, and all the gore., and isnt that what everyone was so worried aobut in the first place?

So if it really matters that much to you, when diablo 3 is released how it is, go cry and play the other 2 diablos, even though you know damn well your going to get D3 anyways

Well you should stop crying over other peoples' opinions.

I just have to post here.. can't get it off my mind.

Why the arrogance? You're making yourselves look like shit. Diablo 3 loyalists? Have you even the most basic grasp of the meaning of the word? How can you define being a Diablo 3 loyalist? Praising it to the heavens and insisting with crusader-like fervor that everybody else 'cept yourself is wrong? What is the matter with you? Are you so numb of mind that you can't see how much worse you're actually making this? If you're going to express your opinion, don't be an arrogant bastard over about the whole matter. Make yourself heard, but PLEASE at least have the dignity not to call yourself something you clearly are not.

EDIT: And about the whole petition itself, you do realize that you're contradicting yourself at every turn, do you? The whole argument section is a frickin' paradox in it's own. Yes, Diablo I and II were colorful, with sometimes very bright tones, but it fit the whole dark, evil atmosphere, as you said yourself. Please get your facts straight and make up your mind before making a rash decision.

    What the fuck?
That's the point of making a request, it's basically asking for action based on your own opinion :-/
And that said, you must be tired of yourself as well. Sheesh, another GREAT thread!

posted a message on Φ Diablo III Art Design Direction Survey
    My turn then I guess.

    What I didn't like was:
-The overly stylized graphics, reminds too much the art design of Warcraft and the ilk.
One must be immersed in the game. What adds mostly to the immersion is the environment, the objects that surround you, the nature, trees, bushes, the grass. Right now it seems out of place for a Diablo game. I don't care if it has rainbows or not, they even add to the flavour, really. What I do have a grudge about is that it doesn't feel spooky anymore. 20 years has passed? Great. But hell is invading? Even more. But how does that add up to the environments we have been shown now? If there are lush grasslands with sunshine, fine, it seems like a welcome transition from the traditional gloom and darkness. But what I don't like is the details and the absence of them thereof. Textures are smooth, so are the models. They're all like polished diamonds. Don't they make bridges and staircases out of stone anymore? Just lego blocks? Worn out rock and stone does go a bit round around the edges, but I would like to see things that have a square-like look to them. A brick should be a brick, not a lopsided cobblestone or whatnot.

Judging from the videos and other media so far, the game does have an atmosphere, and a good one, but it doesn't feel like Diablo's. It feels more like Titan Quest or Mythos rather than Diablo. Going towards that more colorful style was a gamble. It seems that hasn't gone on well to the public as they (well including me), are pretty vocal about it. I'd buy the game anyway, if it stays like this, but it doesn't feel just right. Diablo I and II were spot on with their art design. Maybe I am just nostalgic, but to me D3 so far lacks the atmosphere and immersion that were the cornerstones of it's predecessors. If a random guy, totally new to the series sees D3, he might go "Wow, those graphics are amazing, I love it", but for me, I've been playing the series since the first game, the art style is just hard to give up on.

    What I did like:
    -Everything else.
-Also, the weapon effects were awesome. Flashy I'd say.

I believe I just said environments. The mood was great, the atmosphere was pretty good. For its time it was amazing, but a color pallette like that as far as today's standards would be boring. Color has much more potential.
Anyway, I forgive your bad reading skills.

As for your protip, I fail to see how any of my posts have been non graphical relevant. Are you blinded by rage?

    ???

Environments are like... THE thing that sets the whole mood AND atmosphere. What are you on about?

    Try comparing this:

    To this:

Ok, may not be the best of examples, but I don't have TQ installed right now to take a better comparison. While D3 is darker than TQ in the screen (and overall, actually), it looks just too similar, as in, too little grittiness.

EDIT: Damn that second image is large :S

next week? This is all the D3 media we'll be getting for a good while mate. And the further they get into production the harder it;'ll be to reverse the damage

Right and as we know it, devs never sleep eat or rest. Especially after huge conventions.
