Venom was about to reply to Meth, when suddenly everything went dark. The ships power suddenly got cut off. Fifteen minutes later, the power comes back on due to a back-up generator that won't last long without fuel. *Wroon, Wroon, Wroon* The ships alarms went off. Lt. Venom ran to the cockpit and looked around, saw the radar flashing and went to it. An unknown alien ship appeared. It was eight times the size of the Revenants' ship and much more advanced. "Fuck!" he cursed, spouting out a string of colorful vocabulary afterwards. Venom then runs and finds something to help him get a closer look. He saw the insignia and recognized it from his nightmares.
It belonged to the group that killed his wife and two children. Looking closer, he spotted what appeared to be humans, but then spotted the aliens also. They were nothing he was prepared for. The aliens looked like bastardized flesh fused with chinks of rock and metal, all oozing with a corrosive substance. He heard of these things before and knew nothing would stop them. Racing through the ship he grabbed the four others; Scorpius, Dorf, Oltu, and Meth. "We have to get out of here NOW!! I can't find Kayden!" Lt. Venom roared, running back to the cockpit and put on autopilot, targeting the alien craft and intending to crash into it. He also quickly made all the weapons auto fire on the ship, intending to bring it down with the rest of them. Venom knew the escape pods did not have enough fuel to bring them home, he quickly explained what he planned to do to the others. Scorpius said that he will go with Venom. Dorf, Oltu, and Meth all also agreed to do the last thing and go down in blazing glory. Dorf and Oltu ran to the communications room and sent a message to those on the planets, warning them what might happen, Meanwhile, Venom, Scorpius, and Meth went and prepared the pod and put everybody's respective weapons into it.
The group left the ship after everything was prepared. Launching the pod, they aimed towards the ship, with grim determination to bring down as many as they can. Landing on the docks, they quickly got out and were surrounded with these abominations of flesh. The group then clashed with the aliens, blood flying everywhere. Venom managed to bring two down as Dorf killed three more. Oltu and Meth were quickly getting overwhelmed and Scorpius has already lost his tail and two legs. He then suddenly got squashed flat as an abomination three times bigger than the first aliens stomped into view. He took out Meth with one swift kick which had him smashed into the walls with enough force to crush rock. Venom quickly bent on avenging Meth and Scorpius, leaps on the monstrosity and begins digging into what would be the back of it neck. The thing howls with rage and in its flails trying to get the lieutenant off him, smashes into Oltu and Dorf. nearly knocking them unconscious. Dazed, Oltu was made short work and was viciously torn apart. Dorf, being the biggest of the group, could take a lot more punishment before he could be brought down. He then killed another six of the aliens and started working on a seventh as Venom finally killed the gigantic monstrosity.
Everybody and everything was thrown to the floor as the Revenants ship collided with the alien craft. Explosions rent the air as the remaining two struggled to get back up. Somebody walked up to Dorf and was about to fire his gun into Dorf's head when Dorf suddenly grabbed him, ran to where the explosions were happening, sacrificing himself and killing the leader of the opposing humans. Venom was alone and wounded badly. He dropped his weapons, and ran. He continued to run until he found what he was looking for, the ships controls. Working quickly, he locked and barricaded the doors, killed the opposition. Moving to the controls, he punched a bunch of different buttons and then took a weapon and started destroying everything. The doors burst asunder as another gigantic monstrosity grabbed him by a foot and pulled. Venom then dropped the weapon, screamed a war cry and dove at the beasts head, punching and ripping it apart before being bitten nearly in half. Unknowing to the beast, Venom always had a bomb strapped to him that would explode as soon as his vital signs were at critical levels. It exploded with the power of a two-ton nuclear missile. Decimating a large portion of the ship, but leaving the body intact, due to the design of the bomb and the suit.

Archie posted a message on Dark Abyss - Story ThreadKayden began to get bored waiting around for the next mission, and started to tinker with his blade to see if he could increase the energy blade intensity. After some rearranging of the focusing crystals, he ignited his maul blade and noticed that the blade now crackled with the sound of miniature lightning. "We'll see how this does in the next battle."Posted in: Roleplaying
Kayden, still bored, made his way around the ship, where he eventually found the holographic combat room. "I'll give you a try."
"Activate Random Level, difficutly 1." And the world morphed about him into a green open field with a rainbow off in the distance. A small rabbit came hopping slowly towards Kayden. "You've got to be shitting me!" And with one decisive motion, Kayden picks up right boot, and brings it slamming down upon the rabbits frail skull, blood oozes out from under his boot.
"Activate Random Level, difficulty 15."Once again, the world shifts and morphs into a new world. The sky blends from the clear blue, to a blood red, now on a distant planet orbiting 2 red giant stars at the center of the system. Kayden is now in a valley of some kind, where jagged black and yellow rocks cover the landscape. He begins walking through the rough terrain, towards the valley entrance.
RROOOOOAAAAAARRRRRR!!
A massive toothy feline animal bellowed out in anger from high up one of the rock walls. Kayden turns just in time to see this massive beast leaping down upon him. Shhhhhhinkkk!! The blades flick out, the crackle of electricity coming from his newly altered maul. Kayden crouches, charging his power armor, and explodes skyward to meet his foe. Kayden swings out, as he passes by the twisting beast in mid air. The smell of burnt hair and flesh fills the air.
CRRAAAAKOOOOOM!!!
The feline crashes into the ground, landing solid on it's feet. Kayden flips in mid air, half expecting his enemy to already be slain. But the large cat only was cut on the side, and showed it's prowess at aerial combat as well as ground combat. Kayden landed on one knee, cracking the jagged rocky landscape around him. Before he could stand, the feline monster had already lunged again at Kayden. He rolled out of the way, flicking his maul upwards as he moved. The blade sliced into the belly of the animal, where muscle was now visible.
RRREEEEAAOOOOWWWWW!!!!!
The beast screamed, and was shocked that this tiny person had hurt him so badly. The feline turned slowly around to face it's rival once again. But the giant cat wouldn't get the chance. Kayden plunged his maul deep into the forehead of the creature, burning away the hair where small bolts of lightning flicked against the skin. The beast lay still.
"Activate Random Level, difficulty 47."
The world shifted once again. The heat was what he felt first. This time Kayden found himself standing precariously on a small pillar of rock suspended mere feet above a flowing river of molten stone. The sky was dark, the blackness obscuring his vision. He quickly switched to night vision to see his new enemy. On the banks of the lava river, stood the group of around 200 heavily armed Troscka. The group parted down the middle, revealing the unmistakable red armor encasing the legendary General Shinko. The great Troscka who once defeated a Bull Krilexian Dragon single handlely. Most armies wouldn't take on that task. The story goes that war had become too easy for him, so he took his Battleship out beyond the Outer Rim, into uncharted space, in search of a challenge. That was nearly 100 years ago, and no one has heard from him since.
"Finally a challenge." Kayden says with a smile. He crouches, charging his jump once again, and launches into battle. -

skyknight posted a message on Interesting Armor ideas...Armor that you equip that makes you look like an angel, demon, or gives you partial camouflage that works best in certain environments.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Seriously.
You have to admit that it would be effing sweet to find a rare armor or set piece that not only gives you attributes that an angel might have, but actually gives you some florescent wings similar to what Tyrial has. I'm sure there are many variations to this idea.
I figure there are so many cool armors they could come up with. In this enhanced 3D environment, who's to say some cool looking camouflage armor wouldn't be a great find. I'm not saying for it to make you invisible against everything but maybe exclusively against dungeon rock walls or a forest of trees.
idk
I bet a lot of you could come up with even more realistic ideas. I'd love to read what your thoughts are. -

Sixen posted a message on DiabloFans Exclusive: Jay WilsonAfter a few all-nighters, lots of revision, and an interesting set of questions, we pulled an interview with Diablo's very own Jay Wilson! The interview was conducted Friday night when I received a call from Blizzard. Thankfully, we were able to get a lot of our item-related questions answered. So, without further a due, here it is... I've highlighted DiabloFans in Red the Blizzard in Blue.Posted in: News & Announcements
Jay Wilson: In regards to the female counterpart, she'll be released soon. As far as exact dates go, I really can't talk much about them. A little news about the Skill Tree system should actually go up on our Twitter page pretty soon. About that, we've decided to remove the tree-type architecture and we are moving into a purely skill-based system. This new system is still in the development stages and if it does not work, we still have plenty of options to fall back on. Right now, we're just trying different things and getting a feel for the few ideas in regards to the skill system that we have going on right now. It differs from the World of Warcraft/Diablo II type hierarchical styles and is more of a skill pool/path than a tree per se.
DiabloFans: Will there be class specific quests in the game? If so, can you explain how they would work?
Jay Wilson: We are still discussing whether or not we would like to include class-specific quests in the game mainly because of the simple fact that it may not really fit in with the fast-paced play-style known to the Diablo series. While this is definitely something we would like to consider, we just haven't agreed on how just yet. However, we would like to do something in regards to character specificity. We are looking into having different dialogues and experiences for the same quest or interaction for each of the classes. Each character will react differently and have different responses for different scenarios. For example, the Barbarian may do or say one thing in response to what an NPC has to say, whereas a Witch Doctor will treat the encounter in a complete opposite manner.
DiabloFans: Back in Diablo I a player could find Elixirs. If you drank one it gave you 1 stat point (ie: drink elixir of strength, you gain 1 strength point). Seeing how Diablo III's stat points are non-customizable, by a leveling standpoint, could elixirs be an option to give stat points some player customization?
Jay Wilson: Well, if we did something like that, we would fall right back where we were in Diablo II. As far as stat point expenditure, we don't consider it to be a very strong customization system. Now, there are ways within the game to customize stat points mainly through items. However, there are still a lot of things and systems that we haven't even shown yet that are going to be new ways to approach your items that will allow for new "customizations."
DiabloFans: What are the differences in the difficulty levels in Diablo III other than just monsters doing more damage? ie: What reason will people have to play through these modes after having already beaten the main story of the game on an easier difficulty setting?
Jay Wilson: We haven't really gotten into the difficulty settings a lot; we're still just working on the core content for the game at this point. The primary reason as to why a player would want to progress through the game, through the several difficulties would be for more of a challenge. There will be also better item customization, for example a Level 100 character in a higher difficulty would see and wear items that a Level 30 character would not have a chance at seeing in the lower difficulty. Said items will also look and feel completely different whereas in Diablo II a lot of times you just had a remodel of the same old items with different names.
DiabloFans: Resistances played a huge part in Diablo II, but if you were not lucky with gear drops you would get very quickly overwhelmed in Nightmare/Hell difficulties. Can you give us any details on how the system will be changing? Will it replace the immunity system or will they go hand in hand, once again?
Jay Wilson: Well, the main reason for immunities in the game was to encourage party play. However, we have seen that some players just want to play by themselves? And that is fine, if a player wants to play single player, the player wants to play single player, we're not going to strong arm them into playing with others. Keeping this in mind, we aren't looking to have full immunities or anything of the sort; however we are considering keeping one-element immunities on enemies. Because of the way our skill system works it's almost impossible to build a character that won't have some alternate skill to attack an enemy. So then it becomes an interesting use of a skill or skills that you may not be using all the time. We think that's interesting and fun gameplay, to have to adapt to situations. The adaptation just shouldn't be realizing your character or class is broken and you have to run away or you need to get in a multiplayer game. Those are things we intend to avoid forcing the player into.
DiabloFans: How will rare / high level items stand out when equipped on your character since you've stated that you want all the items to have a more functional look rather than be too flashy or gaudy like they are in WoW?
Jay Wilson: There is a very fine line between the looks of WoW items and the looks of Diablo III items, and I'd like to call that Diablo II. Within Diablo II there were a decent amount of high-end items that were pretty fantastical looking. Obviously it's nowhere near what WoW does which works for WoW, their style looks great and it works for that game but doesn't work for Diablo. So we're looking to make the armor and weapons very fantastic looking, but we're not going to have for instance a two handed sword that's bigger than the character. We're keeping things proportional. One thing we do have that Diablo II didn't have is weapon effects, which was really more of a technical limitation back then.
DiabloFans: How will you balance the power of an item in comparison to its drop rate? In Diablo II runewords were extremely powerful, yet the required runes were also extremely rare to come by, or at least were supposed to be. Will there be items as rare in Diablo III that are as powerful from the start, or will players have to slowly improve the quality of their items, through crafting/runes/other systems?
Jay Wilson: Throughout the history of patches on Diablo II, there were a lot of updates to runewords and they really powerful from when they were introduced. At one time or another though all of the different item types were the most powerful, like unique items were the best, or rare items at some point. Our general approach for Diablo III is to make sure that every type of item has a place to be useful. For example, maybe we'll have a legendary item, which is the new name for our unique items, be the best helm, whereas rares will have the most powerful chest armor, and so on. Having a spread like that will allow for a more varied itemization system we hope.
DiabloFans: What types of items will merchants sell in Diablo III? Are merchants going to play a bigger roll in leveling or are item drops going to be the major upgrades once again?
Jay Wilson: This kind of goes back to the luck factor with your drops. The cool thing was, in Diablo II, you may have found a powerful sash after killing some mobs, but had no luck finding a weapon. You run to town and talk to one of the vendors and notice some items and a weapon that catches your eye, so you buy it and use that. So we want vendors to be there to assist in the gearing process, to fill in those gaps that may come just from playing with a random loot drop system. You may play through an entire act and just never find a great pair of boots, and so we want the vendor to be there to offer some ability to fill that gap.
DiabloFans: Can you tell us a bit more about how the PvP system will work?
Jay Wilson: I'm going to say no comment to save you some time.
DiabloFans: Will the published books be referenced during Diablo III's storyline? For example, will Zayl be an NPC? Will different places like Ureh be visited throughout the game?
Jay Wilson: We removed Ureh from the game as a setting to try and get the game out sooner. However, we like including things from the books and from other sources. No promises, but it's definitely something we've discussed.
DiabloFans: The Veiled Prophet mentions beings similar to Trag'Oul who stop the dragon when he tries to enter Sanctuary. Will we see some development of them in Diablo III?
Jay Wilson: That's probably a better question for Leonard Boyarsky. I'm pretty familiar with lore, but you just hit my lore cap with that question.
DiabloFans: The games feature a very slim cast of angels considering the role the High Heavens plays in the story. Will Heaven be more prominent in Diablo III compared to previous installments?
Jay Wilson: I'm going to say... No comment.
DiabloFans: Can you tell me a little bit about the[flash="width=20 height=20"]http://us.media.blizzard.com/1901200114/_flash/chatgem.swf[/flash] Chat Gem before we have to part ways?
Bashiok: The Chat Gem... It's working correctly and has more than exceeded our expectations. And nightmares.
Well, there you have it folks! I'd like to give a big thanks to Jay Wilson for answering all of our questions and Bashiok and Ryan from the PR Department for setting it all up. I'd also like to thank Christian Lichtner for sitting in on the interview. On another note, you can check out our Richard Knaak interview from a few months back, conducted by Daemaro.

Mephisto's Lament posted a message on Peace OutPosted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)Quote from "DoranM" »We haven't replaced any of these admins in question. They've posted that they're leaving (most of them have said for personal reasons, lack of time etc.)
We've hired a NEW admin who'll be making an announcement and beginning work today!
He's incredibly driven, never missed a Blizzcon, and has been involved in Diablo and Blizzard for years. You'll love him.
Anyone who has left so far has done so on their own, they have posted their reasons in the moderation forum, so far none that I have read have been because of big bad Curse.
Mockery has been replaced with Sixen, if anyone has any specific questions regarding moving forward with the site, and or which admins are leaving please just ask!
That's not what I heard. Stop saying stuff about those people when it's pretty clear that you're just bending words to make you guys look completely innocent, while making people like Jetrall, Seth, and Zoltrix look like big bad fucks who just don't have any more time for this site.

Zhar posted a message on Φ The Official Eastern Sun ThreadPosted in: Diablo IIQuote from "Sathrax" »Alright for one, I'm not making shit up lol, u never stated that it was ur opinion, u said it as if it was a fact, not an opinion, that's the problem.
Point out for me where I apparently said that my opinion is a global fact.
That I could mean that? And yes I do realize that u could mean that
Well, judging by how I said I DO mean that, I'd say it's a safe bet that yes, indeed I do mean that.
Quite some time, I played it before I started playing ES, decided it wasn't my cup o' tea, and moved on to ES.however, forgive me for giving MY opinion, but it sounds very much like you're biased against XL. How long have u actually played XL before?
Usually a melee character, speed is a must. Also, how do you play D2 anyway? What do you wish to gain from it?
.. I wish to gain a greater understanding of myself, and of life in general.
*facepalms*
What the hell would I want to gain from D2?
What IS there to gain aside from arthritis?
This is a game, not philosophy.
Because I like it better?and what makes u feel that that the differences in Eastern sun are BETTER than those of median?
Thats... my fucking.... point.I mean it IS ur opinion and that's fine, but the 2 mods aren't even close to similar.
Exactly, I enjoy the new gameplay added by ES, instead of the shiny new uberquests offered by MXL. It's just new shit to kill, yippee.Eastern sun is obviously for changing the entire gameplay of D2 all the way through. Median XL, however, was obviously made for the purpose of more specific challenge (uberquests) and a totally new approach to characters.
*rages*You can't fairly choose which of the 2 is better because the purposes of both are different. All you can really do is decide which one u prefer to play because of ur own expectations of D2
Yes, I CAN choose which one is better, because I can choose which one i prefer to play because of my own expectations of D2.
Quote from "zhuge" »meh zhar do me a effing favor
wait to temp gets through mxl then he will introduce you to it lol
the ubers are actually worth it
Haha, I'll give it another try I guess :(.

I had a "false virus" try to get on once, message popped up saying it wanted you to click here to fix it and it would take you to the virus (ironically it was supposedly AVG that was gonna fix the situation, but when you actually looked at the address it was AGV - lol).
I also use CCleaner (thanks to Carloseus for that.)
When McAfee expires will most likely switch to AVG.

I agree here, the pvp / pk thread ended horribly and I can see this will probably head in the same direction.
But I suppose it won't hurt to try.
