So I was checking out the D3 armory yesterday and looked at my friends Demon Hunter, who has roughly 1500 Dexterity with a 953 DPS 2H bow. I couldnt see his other stats, but his overall +damage was 63k. I am very confused how this is possible; I myself have a Wizard with 1700 Intellect and a 912 1H Axe with a 80-250ish +dmg offhand and my overall +dmg is barely 30k (all of this is excluding talents, even with which I am only at 35k).
I am very confused how this is possible unless I am overlooking something huge...any ideas?
A big part of DPS can also come from crit chance/dmg and you're considering these. The other thing is never trust DH's character sheet DPS, a lot of ppl use SS which generates very high DPS numbers, but it doesn't actually mean that much.
sharp shooter in reality is about 3-9% (depending on your other crit and attackspeed)
to truly gauge what damage they have you will need to strip all crit and crit hit damage, and see what their unruffled damage is really is, and then you can compare crit and crit hit damage.
an easy way to do this is to use an damage calculator ( http://www.d3rawr.com/ ) is a great one.
make crit chance and crit hit damage 0%, now this value should be the weapon damage that gets multiplied on all your skills. (note some skills include attack speed others dont so its not that reliable)
the calculations is not super excact but it is within a -+5% range.

I'll include the armory links.
The BIG problem with D3 profiles in the armory is that the reported armor and damage stats are whatever was shown in-game when the character logged out. If you logged out of a game while you had buffs from party members, and shrines affecting you, then that would be reflected in the DPS shown in the armory. If you want to see an accurate calculation of your friends DPS you can use a tool I made called Gear Guru. It's an android app, and would let you import your friends profile. I did it quickly on my phone and found his DPS to actually be 26.6K without SS.
Your profile on the other hand also shows a buff active on it, and isn't actually reflecting your real DPS. After importing your character into Gear Guru I can see that your DPS is actually 9301.83, but the reported DPS of 10515.11 comes from the Magic Weapon - Force Weapon skill being active when you logged out.
