It's because of the angle of the view. Plus, when you hit Esc, the pentgrams on either sides of the text you point to has the Satanic one. I can at least get a screenie of that, if you want.
Wanna run through the Forgotten tower and see which way the Pentagrams are orientated. Here I'll save you some time. http://www.d2tomb.com/sshots/552-01.jpg
Also the Pentagram on level 15 in Diablo 1 is the same way. Single point at the top.
Well I suppose it's about time the Sig Shop opened, or is it re-open, I never can remember.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
No, the double points are at the top, it's the Satanic pentagram.
Pentgrams in the game have a single point at the top. I couldn't find a shot of it at the time so i used that one.

they all have a little circle, so I just replaced them with an avatar.
They all have it because it starts with just the circle for Private, then the gold bars and stars are slowly added with each new rank, until you reach the image depicted the rank of Fuhrer. I guess you could sub an avatar in place of the circle.
Should the lettering be white or gold?(sorry jet didnt see your post)
Try it with a font that is lightly easier to read.
Also it's spelt Legionnaire.

Agreed. If it is possible to "diablo" it up a bit. Not that I am really complaining. It looks very good.
This might help. It is after all what I based the ranks on. They are taken from Fullmetal Alchemist.
I apologize in advance for the largeness of there size.
Fuhrer (Commander in Chief): Imperator
Yeh I left out Major General. Due to the recent changes in structure, we can institute that rank if need be, said rank is denoted by the following.
I have a signature shell that is based on this design.
Pretty sure the little circle is part of the rank denotion.

Well assuming that we are a guild that fights for good, it may be more apropriate to use crosses.
The images on page two work just as good.

This is Diablo right so why not the Pentagram? it's a "Star"
Or is it the other way round in Diablo? single point at the top? I think it's single point at the top. It is with the flame Pentagrams in the game, such as in areas like the Forgotten Tower in Act I.
Oh and for funzies here's a neat little animated one.

Would be awesome if we could display rank and clan etc, next to the avatar (probably was mentioned in that thread with the possible future diablo3.com ideas)
It was suggested that some sort of banner or badge denote guild membership, but not rank within said guild.

I like the lattice border type thing, but I think it's too Celtic-looking, and not Gothic enough. That and maybe a little too boxy. But I like the grey's and silver's, that seems more Diablo-esque.
It is rather celtic. makes me think of those grave stones, you know the ones with the cross in a circle. Like I said, a very good attempt. but I think something more overtly gothic would suit best.

It is where the term X Star General is derived. Though generally speaking you cannot get more than a 5 Star General.
Unless your talking about Futurama, then you get up to at least 25 Star. Zap Brannigan is a 25 Star General.
Not gonna do the Face-In-The-Orb thing, but will work on Diablo-ing it up.
YOu could have both hold the name. That is to say one either side. I think the Angel and Demon in Diablo II are in perfect posistion for that.
Or one hold name, one holds rank. Name the rank one would be too small.
How about somthing like the sig I just made? Ill probably do another version. Too small.
Makes a nice border it does. and yes your text is too small. However as a concept for a guild signature, it is a very good attempt. simple yet also detailed.

To in someway emulate the Diablo, or Diablo II interface could work. Kinda small but it would be cool to have the Angel and Demon holding some part of the sig banner.
And maybe the Exocet font. Or an equally gothic in appearance font.

What about like an insignia per rank?
** Centurion
|| Pilus Prior
So on..
Could do that too -- would be easy enough to do --, but we'd need to figure them all out first. (Meeting or poll or something).

Private: Legionnaire
Second Lieutenant: Decurion
First Lieutenant: Pilus Prior
Major: Centurion
Lieutenant Colonel: Primus Pilus
Colonel: Tribuni Angusticlavii
Brigadier General: Praefectus Castrorum
Lieutenant General: Tribunus Laticlavius
General: Legatus legionis
Fuhrer (Commander in Chief): Imperator

These three follow on from Private.
Sergeant:
Sergeant Major:
Warrant Officer:
This rank follows on from Brigadier General.
Major General
