I felt that too. There's way too little freedom in puzzles. Heck, that one area a bit later on in the game where there's literally one spot next to you, and one spot some 100 meter away where you place your portal, and these are the only 2 spots you can.
I've seen that comment here and there and I'm shocked. If it wasn't for him, the story would bore me to death. The only thing I kept looking forward to story wise was to see Wheatley again.
Maybe it helps that I have no idea who the heck the guy is in real life.
Are you playing it on PC or Xbox? I'd play it with you! I'm a reliable team member.
I'm not expecting to play it again with random people, and yes, you count as random, sorry
I only plan to play it with my real life friends, one in particular I'm waiting until he gets his copy on PS3. I feel uncomfortable with people I don't know in real life when it comes to small games like this.
Hum. Yeah. You don't play online. At least, I would not recommend it to anybody. Not with random people.
Play with people you know. One of the great thing about it apparently is figuring it all out with your friend.
I still haven't tried it. Lots of people screwing around with it a lot, too, or killing their friend. But really, I don't intend to waste my first try with anybody but a friend.
Game is 10-15 hours total including co-op. If thats short for anyone, they have a problem.
DLC is purely cosmetic, doesn't affect the gameplay in any way.
I argued like hell yesterday with people whining about such things. As if cosmetic items are sins, when the game is expected to get free content update later.
Life is too short to be offended by marketing tactics. Live and let live.
Life is too important to remain indifferent to all the ridiculous things that happens. Not taking issues or voicing myself when something is wrong is a sin in my eyes. If everybody says nothing, then things get worse.
The game looks awesome, how does the multiplayer work?
Each players have their own portal gun. A player can create 2-linked portal, for a total of 4 portals. Your portal will never connect with your friend's portal.
One player's portal will be blue and orange, the other, red and yellow. I believe you just respawn if you die: you're just robots, so they just manufacture a new you.
The challenges and puzzles are obviously designed for coop in mind (and are completely separate from single player), so they don't just allow cooperation, they -require- it. And the presence of 2 players create many interesting possibilities, and it was said that coop is much harder than solo. Communication -will- be required.
To help that, each player can create "points" or "marks", like you can mark a wall with something to tell the other player "shoot your portal here".
All in all, it looks like an absolute blast if you play with someone that communicates.
Its the whole "hey! buy these games and make the Portal 2 release quicker!", which is not only bullshit (or if it isn't its barely relevant). Its also the whole "we make you think that Portal 2 will release early, give you a timer, and then when its over, just tell you to buy those games to waste your life on making Portal 2 release early".
Err... its a puzzle game. Left click shoots blue portal, right click shoots orange portals. You can only have one of each at a time, which are linked and allow you, or anything to pass through, instantly. Momentum is carried through with you as well. Plenty of tricks to do, and you use nothing else but your dear portal gun with whats around you to complte puzzles.
You do not kill people. But there's plenty of things that can threaten your life.
Its the whole tease about releasing the game sooner, and when the timer was over, they pretty much said "waste your money to try and make Portal 2 released sooner!". Which also seems to be just a lie and even if its not, its pretty meaningless, but everyone's buying into it.
I find that attitude disrespectful as a costumer, and to top it off, actually buying Portal 2, the game that is, you know, actually relevant to the whole thing, does nothing to "make it released sooner".
Waiting for the ridiculous potato fiasco to pass (disgusting marketting strategy, I swear Valve always finds a way to make me more and more disgusted to them. All companies look like EA now...).
At least, unlike EA, their games are still awesome. Which is why I pre-ordered it anyway. Also, I'm dying for Half-Life 2 Episode 3, and its the closest one can get thats relevant in any way.
And from over there, you can see another spot.
What the hell is this?
It definitively annoyed me.

I'm interested mostly because time reports for co-op are EXTREMELY varying, from 1 hour and a half to 8 hours...

I'm on PC, by the way.

Also, game has mods. And PS3 can play mods.
Get this game.
Now.
Double posting? Don't care.
GET IT.
