All of it. Signing up for the account, then making a post. It wouldn't be feasable for any of it to be manual. Spending several minutes just to sign up for a forum and make a spam post. I gurantee the chances that people actually click on those links are too slim to make any profit. It's all automated.

That would foil the bots and their masterful scheme. There are several simple things that can be applied. It's really just about the dilligence of the webmaster to implement them. I can see how it gets frustrating deleting them constantly. On starcrafttwo.com we had them for awhile then they completely died down. But banning 15 a day became pretty tiresome.
