Battle.net (and Battle.net 2.0) is free of charge, (some) games have fees.
Pretty sure that is the format as it currently stands.
Battle.net 2.0 i belive has better or improved, and in all likelihood more, features than 1.0. Something you would expect when going from 1.0 to 2.0.
They will probably keep the old severs/realms running for a while yet, but new games will be on 2.0 so there is no interference from 1.0 users lagging things up.
