This is not for making any of you fans angry. Remember I am in the same boat as you are. I would really love to see Diablo III released anytime soon.
It seems they fix patches faster and faster, allmost beta patch 10 to 12 in 3 weeks now.
Plus, a 100.000 of US beta testers has been put into the beta now. US people cheers, and say that this is probably a stress test due to a *MAYBE* release anytime soon.
Only problem is:
Q: dont you think its unfair to ignore EU gamers and give away 100 f**** thousand!!!! keys ONLY to NA players? Greets from the EU...
A: We'll have information on regional betas soon! Stay strong.
Keep in mind, that Blizzard would probably announce release date one or two months before the actual release. With that in mind, if Eu gets beta in the following weeks (2-3), we will not even see an announcement before April/May.

Bash stated that the reason they gave the 100 000 to NA players is because it's where the servers are, therefore low latency and just easier for them. If they've sorted the NA out first, then they'll test the EU and/or Asia people.
They don't wait for the beta to finish before announcing the release date, on the contrary, Blizz's betas has been going on up to 1 week before the actual release date. So of course can they announce the release date this coming week.
the EU beta will, most likely, serve the purpose of testing the EU servers just like the US servers got tested last week.
or do you have any proof that they are not announcing the release date before the RU invites are going out?
LIke Harmonica39 mentioned: A doesn't exclude B. Also i think i've heard the the beta ends a week before release, and if the 8 weeks in advance announcement is true, then there would be plenty of time to test for EU players.
That is true. I just never heard about "Hey guys, we just launched EU beta keys. And heres a release date!". I've never heard of pulling large numbers of beta testers and then giving a release date at the very same time.

Yeah I know Bash said its because the servers are located in the US. But since Blizzard games has a global release, it would limit the Eu beta testing alot. Not that I wouldnt mind - I'd rather want the retail version than a beta key.
I've read alot about the conference call that there would be February 9th, that both people were sure about a release date and sure about the opposite. I can see the meaning in both opinions though.
This seems kind of obvious. Even if we get a release date tomorrow it would still take a couple of months before release, or I believe that's what Bashiok has been saying all along. The 100K NA invites are interesting, but I don't think anyone is saying Soon™ is anywhere near this month. I'm interested in next Thurday's conference call, even hopeful about a release date before then.
And I don't think that the EU beta needs to be as long as the NA one. It's the same server software, right?
You are absolutely right. For me, it would be good enough if they skipped EU beta tbh.
As far as I've read, no one is really telling us we are getting near a release date. Of course, the crowd would go wild and angry if they just did - we've seen it before, so Blizzard might think twice about giving a date.
To be honest, I'm ok with waiting a little longer for it, espescially since I have Reckoning installed and am waiting for it to unlock Tuesday, Mass Effect 3 is around the corner, AND I'm in the Tribes:Ascend beta. I've got plenty to keep me occupied--but once D3 is out it will consume my soul.
They already explained that their choices on when and how many beta invites go out are made purely on what they need to get a particular job done or to gain some particular information (ever since the beta started a while ago they have said this).
Most of their working servers are in NA right now. So in order to optimally test out their hardware they invite people close by. They will soon move on to the rest of the world as those server go live or require testing.

That doesn't make sense. Beta will be going on after the announcement. They could announce the release date today and still give EU beta keys out in 2 weeks.
We will most definitely hear an announcement before April. I will paypal you 100 bucks if I'm wrong!
I don't know anything about an announcement but this is certainly no valid reason to believe it would be later than sooner. If anything this 100K test is one of the final tests and would mean a release sooner than later. They wouldn't restart the hype machine just to let it die once again in a month.

I didn't think about it in that way.
