So, I was watching the VERY first gameplay video made, back in blizzcon 08?

When the only two classes were the Barb and Witch Doctor.

So I was watching it, and I noticed a throwing dagger dropped, and im like "oh cool that must be for the monk".

Then I got to thinking, Monk wasn't even released at that time.

So then I thought some more, well, what item could be dropped that could be used for a char that hasn't been released yet? So I kept watching and sure enough.

Does this mean the 5th class is going to wield a bow?

Could very well be, since the current 4 classes cant use a bow and it is speculated the 5th class was going to be a hunter/ranger.

Anyways, I thought it was interesting.

I've been reading up on all sorts of different views and the one that hit me the hardest was, every class is viable in far and close range combat... So a PURE range class is out of the question. A Ranger/ Assassin would be a good guess. That's just me and a lot of reading though...

Well, the barb doesn't have a lot of range but I can see how he can leap. But yeah, I would say like a Ranger, someone who could use a bow for superior long range, and if needed too, could pull out a sword, javelin, or a dagger. The reason why they probably haven't said anything is because they could be working on its melee aspects, and imo, would need the most work.

This no news o.O People on this forum speculate that 2 years ago.

Also, people made very nice theories that the last class would be a "rogue" but has changed for something more fancy (it was officially stated that the unnounced class passe through major redesign).

Bet on ranger. Why ?
No blizzard RPG (D1, D2 and WoW) ever used the ranger class before. They also aim for "archtypal" classes. And it's damn obvious that the last class will be a bow wielder.

Greetings omniscient one, it is I who in such simplicity weep at a world of men, men who can pour scorn and insincerity to a humble, and innocent bystander. To be underneath such a messiah as yourself, and to be ridiculed is an honor, As I can only look at it with great humor and project my sarcasm upon him for it only amuses myself with great success. But alas, what eludes my simple mind, is that after 20 minutes of "KQKYLE" in this thread, this is all he produced with his conceited brain.

The monk is already kind of considered an assassin for it's martial arts combo attacks and such. It can't be just a pure archer because that would be just dumb in Diablo 3 case ... so it's probably something totaly different form the previous Diablo games. I would love it if they put some type of rogue/thiever in D3 ... that would be badass ... the thiever could set traps like a assassin and pickpocket people ... have deadly dps with daggers and other small hand swords ... and be mastered in lethal liquids and poisions.

I would have to agree: the presence of bows strongly supports the concept of a range-focused attacker. That doesn't mean the class would be useless in melee, just focused on range.

I'm gonna laugh when the 5th class is the only class that can't wield a bow. That would make my day lol...

I think I saw a picture of a druid, a video found on youtube, from a Blizzcon show.

But they are know as good teasers, so it might first come in the extensions to the game.

Why would that be a good choice when we already have enough melee? We're lacking range physical.

for those who are positive the fifth class is a ranged weapon specialist, how might blizzard avoid falling into pitfalls like the guided and multi arrow that they had to nerf eventually anyways? any creative ideas for ranged weapon skills that could really instill some new life into an arguably archaic rpg staple

i think its going to be a lagolas class. uses a bow but can also kick ass with swords and fist wapons.

Not sure, probably why they haven't release anything yet.
