Yeah, arrow quantity would suck. For how fast paced they want to keep the action, going to town to buy arrows would stop that. I cannot think of any reason to add arrow quantity into D3.

I agree about the arrows being a source of annoyance rather than adding to gameplay.
If there are arrows, I would like them to have special attributes like bows.
Example u can have arrow that already has some % of piercing attack and a chance to light ur foe on fire for example.
I think that arrows should benefit from some item bonuses. Of course ur quiver of special arrows will then have to be refillable.
Anyway just an idea how to make arrows less annoying.
I believe i read somewhere that they were planning on having infinite arrows. Bashiok might have said it some where a while back. Not sure where to find that. I'm rather confident that that is what they said though.
Temporalsky is correct. They said that there would be no ranged missile limits. (I forget where, so... no link for you)
But I'm hoping-if they don't have spells that imbue arrows-that, even though you have infinite regular arrows, they have some sort of cool arrows you can find, like in an old-school side-scroller, where you can find a rocket launcher or something, that has 20 shots, that after you Destroy enemies with, you just revert to the regular ones. That would be cool.

And we can tie these caterpillars together to make bow strings for bows and arrows.

There was even talk of french toast, but there was none to be had
As others have said, Bashiok(I think) said arrows would be unlimited. I don't really don't mind too much either way. I just never had a problem with running out of arrows(just kept an extra quiver in my inventory).
I guess what I would like best would be unlimited ammo but still be able to find arrows. I'd want to arrows you equip with the bow to just add some extra modifiers to the bow(extra damage, magical properties, etc.)
if they add arrows make them "epic" arrows ad more damge and you can repair them so your not carrying arrows that do nothing more then waht you bows do

"epic" ?? Don't push too much !
repair arrows ? I think bow are more logical to repair !
The bows should be the same as Diablo II but with unlimited arrows. You can find or buy quivers of arrows that would act as a charm with up to 3-4 attributes.
For example:
I am level 78 and in need of a new quiver of arrows to replace my Toxic Arrows, which have poison damage added-on to each shot. I kill a unique that drops Diseased Arrows of the Dead, which would have better Poison Damage and each thing I kill would burst like the Necro's Poison Explosion skill.

Arrows (unlimited) having stats or Quiver having stats are the same ! it still an unlimited item you wear that complement your bow...
Durability never related a gameplay or a feature, so why keep it ? you need to come back in town... Who's saying "spend money" I said, just balancing that by decreasing money drop...
No offense but why not add those stats to the bow itself. Basically you are removing the elemental things weapons have (fire damage on axes) and make it an item on it's own for bow users.
Pointless more?
Good point, but i think it can be cool to have 2 things that customize your stats, indeed only if arrow haven't the same stats as bow, it can be cool to make different mix. Example arrow having utilities and bow set the damage. Frost arrow, explosive, stun, confuse, silence...etc.
not like two weapon, if yes : like Airandius said, it's pointless...

I still don't see why you would split the effects of 1 item in 2 and then spread them out.
It's not like you would grab an axe, you can pick the handle and the the actual axe part. And the axe part has the damage, and the handle has the other modifiers.
Do you see how pointless it is? In my opinion a bow/crossbow should be a 2h weapon just like all the others and have spears / javelins be the 1h version of the ranged weapons. Which you may combine with a shield.
Worked fine in D2. And it keeps the game nice and simple.

You have a point here, if they make arrows or quivers with stats bonus you will have to change them too often, 5 zombies hmm i`m going to use my light arrows.. wait 3 demons rushing at me its time to change them again fast, and there are skills to use.. too many things to do at the same time why complicate us more there is needed, you will probably carry 10 types of ammo for 10 different enemies and change them just for the damage bonus, that is not an option.
Right !! After analysis it, it isn't bring anything except more work for Blizzard. And all the possibilities of bow + arrow will be too hard to balanced well!
well... you could have a quiver of arrows just like in D2, but instead of going to town to buy more you could just recover those you used... but i don't think so...
I perused [the thread] a bit, but I liked in Dragon Age how the default bow/crossbow had infinite arrows/bolts, but you could buy fire arrows, etc. for added damage. Even if your special arrow was ineffective against an enemy you still had your basic bow damage. 2cents. I wouldn't miss anything either way though; I'm not a ranged weapon kinda person.

It gives more customization to split the stats on 2 items. For example if a rare item is limited to one aura. You would get 2 auras from 2 weapons/shield and 1 for a dual handed weapon.
Hmmm...I completely agree with emilemil1 on that one.

Sure enough, it gives more customization. But is it really needed? That's the question.
And the anwser is simple: no it's not needed. Why?
Because you don't slit 2H swords in 2 parts for more customization or 2h axes or polearms.
It's only creating more work for some slight customization that just makes the whole item interface more complicated.
Just have bows and crossbows 2H and leave the arrows behind, not everything needs recycling into D3.
U are forgetting something- bows and crossbows NEED arrows to work. Giving stat bonuses to arrows make them more interesting and offer more customization. And we are not going to be constantly changing arrow-types like some have claimed. Its like someone is having to constantly change swords depending on enemies.
Once u get arrows with some uber stats on them, u can roll on...just like with any weapons that is. Making them unlimited will be even sweeter. It makes even more sense because ranged fighters don't have quite the same incredible damage as a pure melee.
What you are leaving out though is the subtle customization that having split stats can add.
Lets say I have a 2h bow
+5 dmg
+10 hp
+5 cold dmg
+4 dex
but instead i could have a 1h bow
+5 dmg
+10 hp
and choose from
arrow1
+5 cold dmg
+4 dex
arrow 2
+4 defense
+5% chance to crit
arrow 3
+5 fire dmg
+5% mana
arrow 4
+5 lightening dmg
+4% MF
or what if I get an awesome bow but it is only missing cold damage to help me freeze targets. I can supplement this problem by finding cold arrows.
Diablo is all about the gear and loot and adding variety to these drops could never hurt this game. Plus it gives people the opportunity to customize their character since we cant with stats.
and also
Also refers to the 2h weapon argument. There is no point in making a 2h sword 2 items, one is the handle the other is the iron part. WTF?
bows are made up of two components.

In d2, you always need to check the amount of arrows you have, constantly return to town to buy... annoying...
In many recent games, bow has infinite arrows !
What you think are the best ?

haha.

But I think to something cool, you can buy or find your ammo (unlimited), ammo change damage, speed, modification like any items...
And another question that Ivaron bring...
DURABILITY ????????
I think like ammo, blizzard will not implement that, you need to return to town for repair ??? it's break the action as much as buying ammo.
"epic" ?? Don't push too much !
