So, the Bard wasn't really a class, but whatever. So the Bard has the ability to identify items, use magic, and dual wield; while the Monk(Hellfire) has a natural resistance to pain, and can use a skill called Search.
There is also a recurring theme of ethnicity and location:
So, to be different from the other four classes, I believe the class will be as follows:
It is a male, from a location that is cold/winter (Dreadlands). This class is sort of like and Eskimo if you will. When we talk skill wise, it must be good at Searching, Natural Resistances (to the environment/cold), good at identifying items, and use dual weldable weapons. Also, Blizzard has made a point of the Runes being an important part of their game, so I assume that this class will have some connection to runes (can make them, perhaps?)
The actual class itself, I think will be a Hunter/Survivalist, someone who excels at taking out enemies by using the environment, and using tactics. So far we haven't seen any aspect of stealth play (Lock picking) so I'm sure they won't leave out that aspect in their game. Another thing is shapeshifitng, which was a fun part of Diablo. This class will be quick at defeating enemies one at a time and be able to buff friends using incantations or something along the lines of a buff.
This is just my guess, I would love your thoughts on the fifth and final class.
(NOTE: I didn't put Monk underneath Monk because the Monk from Hellfire was different from Diablo 3)
Well first of all, Hellfire doesn't count as part of the series as has been officially mentioned a few times. So the Hellfire monk and bard wouldn't count.
But even if they were considered, I don't think a bard / something else would make a great Diablo character. Skills like "search", "lock pick" and "identify" seem fairly useless when you consider how fast-paced the action in D3 is going to be. And unless I'm missing something, isn't the barbarian already the game's dual wielder?
And I don't understand how the Wizard is Sorcerer + Amazon? Is it cos of that slow time orb thing which resembles slow missiles? The Amazon was bow and javelins focused, personally I don't see any resemblance at all to the Wizard. I'm interested in what made you think that.
Sorry if I seem really negative and against this theory, it's quite well thought out, but it just doesn't make much sense to me. I actually like rogues who can hide in shadows and backstab, and break into locks and all that (just like Baldur's Gate :D) but I can't see that fitting into the fast hack n slash action of D3.
I always thought the Bard was a combination of the Warrior and the Rogue (the reasoning is probably self explanatory, so I wont go into it).
I don't see how the Wizard is a combination of the Sorcerer and Amazon, though. Taking a note from your Barbarian logic, I'd say it's more "Sorcerer + Sorceress." I also think the Witch Doctor/Druid is a bit of a stretch.
Taking the list of characters and identifying which ones are left, is a bit easier, however and that would prove useful, since It has already been said that the final class is one that has been used in the past (don't remember the source to cite it).
That means (in order of introduction):
1. Warrior: Barbarian
2. Sorcerer: Wizard
3. Rogue: ?
Actually, that leaves you with Bard, Monk, Rogue, and Sorceress. Technically you used Sorcerer, which is essentially synonomous with sorceress, so we could eliminate that one (which, I'm guessing, is why you didn't list it).
We could also eliminate Monk and Bard, since Blizzard already stated they don't consider Hellfire to be a part of the diablo universe. The only one left is the Rogue, but if you disregard the nomenclature difference, it's basically the same concept as as an Amazon, so we could remove that too, just like the Sorceress.
I could see Scout being a choice, but I think most likely one that you don't have on the list, 'Hunter'. And it doesn't matter how many times that name's been used, as long as they incorporate a unique playstyle unlike any other for it, that's all that matters. As I've said in other threads, this class is very likely to have some sort of relation to nature, the color scheme for the other classes even implies that the last one will be based around a green styling which futher supports my theory, and 'Hunter' would fit well in that.
Some of you guys need to understand too that what was stated by Jay, I think it was, is that the class will be "someone from the past". Add that to the other statement that there will be no other returning classes besides the Barb, and you can assume that they're talking about an NPC from the past games. Though I'm thinking it might be two NPCs from the past, as they have to have a male and female version.

All the classes in Diablo universe:
The combined classes are as follows:
Leaving us with...

So, realistically, it's either the Rogue/Amazon or Druid; if they decide to keep the 'returning' character theme.
We have two potential concept arts indicative of both classes too (way to be tricky Blizzard).

That's about it ... anyone think one of those names will be used? Which one and why?
