I would love to see a battlemage in diablo 3 or something similar to it. Ive always wanted to be able to create a character that was like half fighting ability and half casting spells. It would be kind of neat because they could have lots of different ways to upgrade the weapons they use via spells but would also be able to launch some ranged spell attacks like fireball or that really cool ice sphere that the sorceress had.
A monk would also be nice. I think a holyman healer type would be really cool to be sort of a reciprocal of the witch doctor. They said something about making it really easy this time to switch between a variety of skills very quickly so a possible idea for the monk would be lets say have one of the skill trees he learns be something like fight moves ie Claw, kick, punch, elbow, knee, dirt (like tosses dirt into the eyes of opponents) but the thing is you would use these moves to generate combos or just hit independently. For example lets say you used kick kick elbow claw now on the last move the monk would love something cool like something similar to the barbarian whirlwind. Just an idea.
Hey. A monk! Among all other suggestion yours is as good as simple.
I don't know about the Healing skill tree, but two of these skill tree could be the Weapon tree which would give bonuses and feats while using staff, sickles and such. And the other skill tree would be for Bare Hands.
The gear for a Monk using the Bare Hands would be gloves. Gloves which could give elemental damage, speed, and even boost the blocking skills.
The idea is good and once you starting thinking on how a monk would be, very things come to my mind.
