So I've been playing Diabo 1 again and I have three questions. One refers to an in-game mechanic, and two are community questions.
When casting a spell from a scroll or staff, what it the level of that spell?
Let's assume you have sufficient magic/vitality to withstand the forces of Hell, but they are not maxed yet. If you have an elixir of magic/vitality, do you use it as a full mana/healing potion?
- I do, by the way.
Do you use save/load to discover the contents of Goat Shrines/Cauldrons in Single Player?
- Once again, I don't have a problem with that.
Well goat shrines are random. What I do is bring up the shrines what they say and do. Click on it when the word comes up go to the site I have the shrines and find what it said and look at what it does. I ushually go here http://www.ladyofthecake.com/diablo/shrines.htm scoll down it tells me what the shrines do (It also includes hellfire shrines) As for scroll and staff I assume there on the first level. I have no idea.

Hey LOD, thanks for explaining. That means that is isn't entirely useless to use scrolls when you've got the skill at a high lvl.
I also realized that the elixirs only heal in Hellfire, so I'm sorry that I didn't add that.
For shrines, I always save before I activate them and look at the effect. If I don't like it, then I reload. Don't you just love the saving system in D1
Save system in Diablo 1 is very good for Single Player, however without save slots I myself had screwed up a lot of Saves, simple when i was about to die . After a lot of those "bad" experiences i begun to play solo on multiplayer mode.
Jarulf's Guide! I totally forgot about that. Thanks Rykker.
I feel that the save system in Diablo 1 was a bit too abusable, case in point being the shrines. On the other hand, it sped up the process of re-rolling items from Adria.
I kinda liked the saving process in D1. I never abused it. I totally use it every 10 seconds though sience there has been many times I forgot to save and left or forgot to save and died and my computer crashed and I didnt save and I lost it all. So now im so paranoid of any of this happening after every small group I kill I save lol Its gotten so bad to the point evne after I sell something I save after I town gossip I save.

Scrolls of spells that you cannot read books of (i.e. Infravision) will be cast at the spell level of whatever book-read spell you have selected in your speedbook, when the scroll is cast from the belt. A level 15 Infravision can last a long time.
I believe that scrolls from spells you can read books from are cast at your current spell level.

Yeah, I'm fine with that. I hate those shrines that take away your mana permanently. They're so bad that I end up never hitting goat shrines and cauldrons. I bet the game designers didn't intend for that to happen.
