I really hope there aren't achievements for "offline" single player. Else we're looking at that whole "ban people for cheating in single player" fiasco from SC2 again, which also implies "ban mods".
Oh damn... really?
No one was banned for using cheats in single player. Blizzard has even put their own cheats in the single player version of the game!
Isn't it about time we changed this thread's title to "IQ <50 click here"
Nice one, FoxBat. God, this is exactly what I hate about that kind of stupidly written article.
Yes, they banned people for cheating in single player. Oh yes, the big news title and then idiots go around and just say OMG, BLIZZARD IS BANNING PEOPLE FOR IT.
Let me elaborate: They banned people for using a Trainer while connected to bnet and unlocked achievements, getting hard earned crap with ease. Also, the bans were TEMPORARY.
Damn ... So if I understood well, it probably will be anyway, we can not put our char on BNET, that bad. and we have to create 2 chars, one online and one offline? is it? This is totally stupid. :yucky:
I do not know if you guys know the game the settlers 7 you necessarily need to have a connection to play ... or as my friend spoke up on Bnet need to login periodically to "update" your character, something like that. today it is easy for a company like bliz make this type of procedure. regardless of how it will be, I just wish could play with my char both offline and online ... it's more fun have company, trade items, build a strategy for killing certain boss...I do not know if I could make you guys understand my feeling..
You are NOT 22 years old, or are you suffering from some sort of mental dysfunction or disease, in which case I am very sorry for you. Read some post, open your head and kick in some sense.
It is depressing that it will be like Starcraft 2, where it's required that you have access to an internet connection once a month to even play. And the whole "achievements" thing... and LAN tossed out the window which throws modders and military under the bus a hundred times...
The reason for a once a month connection is so you remain updated of balance, skill and any updates they upload.
What kind of excuse is that? I'm sorry, but I'm playing offline, it makes absolutely no difference and it is entirely my choice if I want to "update" or not. The reason they want it that way is that you can't just give it to a friend that will never go online and he can play forever.
This is control and nothing else. I do not understand how anybody could defend such pathetic behavior that limits users that actually bought your game.
Not true, you can choose to play online or not - I have been playing Diablo2 on patch 1.00 for sometime
And if you are installing it on multiple PCs, then ofcourse you shouldn't be allowed to lend it out to your friends so they can play online for free. We all bought the game legitimately, everyone else should too.
Of course they can have a LAN style connection available, but that's defeating the point of the multiplayer experience - I agree with with what Jay Wilson on that point.
If you choose to let your friend have your copy of the game so he can play offline, then good luck to him/her playing it, and not being able to enjoy the multiplayer experience.
Not pathetic, or any type of excuse, it's a legitimate way of stopping that, and keeping gamers up to date if they choose to be.
No one is forcing you to do that, you can simply wait until some fansite allows certain patch file for download.
Thats your answer? Are you even talking about the same thing? And Diablo 2 has nothing to do with this?
