I loved the way that unique items often had individual creative artwork and cooler names.
I would like to see some work done to make rare items look/feel/sound more original like unique items.
1) For one thing, the naming formula could be made a bit better -- instead of the boring "random 2-word" naming formula, they could develop a GRAMMAR that was used to randomly generate different types of names. For example,
RandItemName := RandAdj + TYPE | TYPE of RandNoun | RandCharName's TYPE [of RandNoun]
RandAdj := Gloomy, Spiny, etc...
RandNoun := Doom, Hellfire, the Deep, Eternal Suffering, etc..
RandCharName := some more complicated grammer for making up fictional character names
...
You get the idea. This way you could get items with names generated over the full gamut of possibilities, which sound more like unique names, eg..
Bjarnok's Flaming Brand
Soulfire
Sword of Destiny
Archimekos' Burning Whip
The Axemaker's Blade
..
2) Make some unique item artwork that is reserved and used randomly only on rare items that have a large number of attributes. Or sometimes could borrow artwork from unique items. This way rare items dont always look so boring.
3) This isn't for rares, but it would be nice to see some unique lore written about each unique item -- the way Baldur's Gate did. This made them feel more special, too.
