Well. That was a pretty throughout breakdown of my post. Nicely done.
Now I'm gonna keep this short, so here goes.
Obviously, it would seem like we have a misuse and misunderstanding of words. You say that D3 is more cartoony, I say it is more clear and detailed.
Yes I may be a hypocrite for concluding the unconcludable, but I base my conclusions on at least 10 years of Blizzard's success. Not 20 minutes. If Blizzard failed to deliver a great game, I will speak up against it. However, they have not failed the audience for over 10 years. Each one of their products are yearly winners, they deliver each time. I would never conclude anything about D3 if the producers were EA, but luckily (for us), the producers are a long time respected company that has never failed to deliver. Although I try to stay neutral at times, I hate it when my favourite game company is trashed by their own fans, and that is based on something less than 20 minutes, not 10 years.
On to the Barney and Hello Kitty. It is nothing more than a Hyperbole and a desperate comparison IMO. I do stand a neutral point of view, although I object a few statements there and then, in no way would I ever take sides just for the sake of doing so. So far, both sides have gone from mature arguement to desperate arguement.
Now, from a Biased point of view that was for the petitioners. Yes, I would hate Blizzard if they gave me D3 with that sorta art design. And that is only if I'm bias. I don't think Blizzard knows what the fans want, and surely that can't read our minds.
However, I do not go for or against the petition, and have full confidence that Blizzard will deliver. Sure, maybe some of you feel that you're being flipped off by Blizzard, really how can Blizzard tell the fans what they want? Amazing thing is, whatever Blizzard is doing to their games, it has worked for over 10 years. Whatever decision Blizzard has made, it has worked for 10 years. How many middle fingers they've given to their fans, the fans took it in the end, for over 10 years. So maybe I should not be concluding so much if I stand in a neutral point of view. However, all neutral point of views look at facts, not fiction.
You can say I'm more like a judge in court. If the defendant and prosecutor (people for and against the petition) both offered good points, I listen. However, if one of these 2 offered more reliable and supported evidence. Then I will vote for that party.
Meh, so much for keeping things short
And do you know why there games have always worked out great for 10 years? Because each of them had a different art style and gameplay. Each of them were refreshing from eachother. Each of them were visually different and gameplay-wise different.
Now, that is not the case. They admit to taking ideas from diablo 2 and bringing them into WoW. Did everyone get pissed off about that? No, they did not. Because the ideas worked, and they did not borrow any art style from diablo 2 and put it into WoW. They are taking WoWs ideas, and about 60 to 70% of there art style based off the gameplay d3 trailer, and implementing it into diablo 3. That has never been done before. Lets take a look at what ideas they have from WoW into diablo 3.
1 Same exact inventory
2 Bags
3 Exaggerated armor
4 Glow affects//enchants
5 Purple texted items, with uniques. No rare yellows dropped in the gameplay vid.
6 Pixelated box pictures for the inventory. (Aka no more cool real-looking pictures of real armor/shields that were in diablo 2 for inventory pics, thats gone now)
7 Text popups, for critical hits and weapon blocking.
Now combine that with the World of warcrafts ART STYLE, aka a different game completely, and there you have it. That has never been done before in the history of blizzard on such a scale. Does warcraft 3 have the same art style as starcraft? No, it does not. Did diablo 2 look anything like World of warcraft? No it did not. So what the FUCK (pardon my french, i could not help it) are they doing exactly to diablo 3? Not to even mention those Red globes that you run over, I dont even know where they got that retarded idea. But include that into my post as well just for another moronic reflection on what there exactly DOING to diablo 3. Now do you get where the petitioners are coming from?

They're working + fixing + improving it. If there are even rumors of beta release date from a trusted source, then I'll start worrying. Now, I really don't wanna go too deep into this, but weren't there bright green text for set items in D2? Isn't it a good idea to know how much critical damage you've dealt?
Blizzard will never show an incomplete gameplay trailer. In other words, Blizzard will never show a gameplay trailer where the inventory box hasn't yet been fully drafted designed. I don't really like the new item system (although it doesn't bother me that much) to be honest, but I doubt that is the finalized result.

Sadly for you Creepsville i atleast understand what STRAW MAN means, while you are only able to spell it correctly and then USE IT IN EVERY SENTENCE YOU MADE! You my friend, are the definition of a straw man, just look at every point you made, its fucking hilarious how you are able to correct the spelling of straw man and thereafter are able to cram an antire reply full with them. What were you thinking? That people wouldn't notice? Are you dumb or something?
If you imply that what i said there for is incorrect, then this is a straw man.
Obviously a straw man.
You aren't arguing ANY of the arguements, you're doing nothing more then using STRAW MANS.
Then neither does Blizzard, see what i did there "farm boy", i mean "STRAW MAN".
Straw man much straw man?
You failed at arguing how that is wrong, you just repeated what i said, you're an idiot.
Oh yes, this is a HUGE straw man.
Straw man?
Therefor i have to agree with them? Are you stupid or something.
Failed at refering to what you are talking to, YOU SUCK.
HEH? You even fail at making a stance about ANY subject? You suck even more.
Soooo.....? You fail at explaining how this is right/wrong for whatever reason. You've sucked yourself.
You fail at analizing anything? WTF? You suck your suck.
PHAILED AT POINTING OUT HOW IN ANY WAY, LOL YOU SUCK!!! Infact you suck so much that you managed to suck your future self in the process of sucking your past self in the process of sucking your present self, YOU INTERDIMENSIONALLY SUCK. ROFL
You didn't argue anything you aborted lobotomized fetus.
What if, no hear me out, what if you actually try to comprehend the statements Blizzard made you fucked up retard. Think about it, although with the void that is your brain thats impossible.
Alright. I'm laughing so hard right now it's hard to type this. Doppel - I am so tired of you not using the term "Straw Man" correctly, that I am going to tell what it is. A Straw Man Argument is when someone misinterprets someone else's points, sometimes intentionally, and then goes on to refute those points. In other words it is an argument that gets us all nowhere and usually the person doing it likes to think they are making a great point and taking someone down when they aren't even arguing the right subject anymore. I hope you get what it means now you fucking imbecile. You just misused it about 18 times in your above post and it's just...hilarious.
So my question to you is: How can I be making straw man arguments if I'm not presenting an argument in the first place? Figure that one out you fucking imbecile.
Lol, you fucking suck, your "closely imitating ANALIZATION" was one HUGE strawman, imbicile
LMAO. First, you get a cookie for looking it up! How Wiki of you!
But second,
...I made no argument. Remember? All I did was simplify what you said in your post and I pointed out a few fallacies you made.
So like I said before - how can I be straw manning if I am not presenting an argument? You. Fucking. Imbecile.
In fact, you post is even funnier now because you just used another straw man! You said that I argued something and that I imitated your argument when I didn't. You just misinterpreted the term straw man in order to conjure yet another straw man argument!!! Bahahahahahahahaha! This is classic.
And do you know why you misuse the term straw man and you constantly post straw man's in nearly all of your posts? Because you're fucking stupid. I'm sorry but it's true. You write like a kid chewing on his own face. You can't comprehend most of the things people write to you. You misinterpret them and write long, childish arguments (more like tantrums) back and the cycle of shit continues. It's pathetic and needs to stop. I don't care how angry you are that Blizzard won't let your shitty unprofessional input influence their game making process.
JEZUS FUCK, YOU ARE RETARDED!!
A straw man comes from LITERALLY A STRAW MAN, an imitation, wich is easyer to defeat, THERE'S NO ARGUMENTS COMMING INTO THIS YET!!!!! A STRAW MAN ARGUMENT, is when you argue this CLOSE IMITATION. Now fucking get out of my sight tard.
You read the definition and you still don't understand it, fucking imbecile.

But fans take note: The decision to add color to the macabre world of “Diablo” didn’t come lightly. “It’s actually the thing we struggled with the most,” Wilson said.
That is supposed to make fans feel better or something?
However, translating the game from 2D to 3D with a dark color palette didn’t make for the best gameplay experience. The first and second iterations of the art direction had a “modern, gritty look” but made it difficult to distinguish enemies from the environment.
I never had a problem distinguishing enemies in diablo 2. Even with bad light radius in some areas where I could not even see my enemy, hence, the scary M rated affect.
“When you have 30 creatures on screen — and four or five different types — target prioritization is a factor,” he said. “You need to be able to tell those things apart fast, and you can’t do that when your world is gray and your creatures are gray.”
Then dont make them all look the same with WoW-like graphics and bad pastel textures. That are clearly seen here http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/bestiary/darkcultists.xml I meen that art picture does not even look close like the 3D version. If you make enemies destinguishable from eachother, thats great, if you do it and still cannot tell what they are, well thats your own fault.
Wilson and his team also wanted to make the game stand out from all the other dark games, citing “Gears of War” an example. There’s a lot of gray-and-brown games out there, and there’s lots of photo-realism out there. If you want that, there’s no end of games for you to play. We didn’t want you to look at ‘Diablo III’ and go, ‘Oh, that looks like ‘Gears of War.’”
It did not have to look like gears of war. It did not have to Look like WoW. What it should have looked like was diablo 3.
Wilson also addressed a few of the concerns that critics of the new art direction had. Many blamed “World of Warcraft” for the change and the influence. But Wilson didn’t see that as a bad thing. “I think it’s impossible for us to not be influenced by our other creations,” he said. “There’s a lot of back and forth between the two games, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. We look at ‘World of Warcraft’ and the art style there is more cartoony than we wanted, but in terms of target identification and having a world that feels like you can move through it and spend lots of time in it, there’s a lot of elements to the art style that really work.
Thats great, being able to "move through the world" and everything like that. But a lot of people dont really want to move through the world of warcraft, mainly because most have already done that. Like I said before, there 2 different games. You dont see warcraft 3 looking like starcraft 2, now do you?
“If you took an environment and you basically lit the whole thing up with just a flashlight, it works way better in a 2D game… we’ve really found that you needed other light sources to be able to make the game look good.”
So you made a gameplay trailer with enough lightning in it to light my town IRL with. Also added over-exaggerated blue glow affects to the fog and huge green tints to the walls and floors. K...
Wilson also assured me that the environments will get darker as the game progresses (what’s out now are early stages of the game), and the team is still in the process of “smattering the world with dead bodies and horrific skeletons and things like that” along the way.
Only the real good thing about the entire article. However enemies should still leave something behind when you take them out. The vanishing act does not cutt it.

Well, they just said they were happy with what they have so far. Speculation from that statement implies that their loving colorful ways are not going to change, and their statement that "we're not changing it" would imply that aswell.
But like I said before. Until something goes on there official site, I'll stand hopeful.
Without changing that, i dont see how its POSSIBLE to improve diablo 3.

The colors should be the least of your worries. The gameplay trailer showed the very beginning of the game, where corruption is to a minimal. When the time is right, I'm sure Blizzard will show another gameplay trailer. This time however, they will show a more corrupted section of the game, obviously with more gore and more intimadating demons.
I agree that the gameplay trailer showed very beautiful (not colorful) and detailed environment. But I am not unhappy with this because I like to watch the land corrupt instead of start the game off in corrupted areas.
While I understand and respect your position on the matter, I suppose it merely boils down to our differing views and tastes as far as what is "contrast". Personally I think that the beauty of a field that is filled with the undead is very stark contrast, whereas you feel that there should be some corruption shown. Taking into account the whole "from Apocalypse to more Apocalypse" quote, we may see corruption run more and more rampant the further we venture.
Secondly:
Jesus you guys. Calm down. I know we're all very passionate about Blizzard's next big game, but we need to tone down the rag just a little bit.
Flame wars won't get us anywhere. Show a little respect for the people you are debating with, even if you think they are a brain-dead moron.

It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
Well the Leoric Highlands werent 'corrupted' AT ALL.
Just the beatiful fields and some undead and other creatures on it which dont even look creepy which makes them look like animals - a part of the nature.
A little 'corruption' around the places where undead (or demons) are found would make them look more kickass AND you could compare that to the rest of the place which is still beatiful and you want to protect it.
Thats what im calling "contrast".
Protect it? Who said anything about protecting it?
I for one think the new zombies are more horrifying. Its a beautiful thing to watch a beautiful land slowly engulfed by demons. Of course the zombies and moonclan are not very powerful demons. They are rarely strong enough to corrupt the land.
When the assault beast came in. That was a different story. The place immediately got darker, and you get a sense of corruption. Whats more amazing is that you can immediately juxtapose between the two land. From bright to dark.
Edit: Just saw your post Dead_Metal, but i kinda already answered it in this post.
If they want to create contrast without even a slightest change in the environment (very beatiful), they have a to work a lot on the monster models and animations as they dont stand out of the natural environment.
I hate to say it, but that's just more of you and me disagreeing because of our opinions.
I'm sure plenty of people will believe both of our arguments, but I suppose it's more of the "wait and see" game until we get more screens and videos.

The only part about your entire post that didn't make me want to stab you irl T_T.
At least we know they tried the darker art style at first, and didn't just completely disregard it. And I didn't have trouble distinguishing mobs in D2, but D2 was 2D, he said the problem was in 3D with colors. The rest of your post, was just... omg wow
Atleast I agree with you about the vanishing corpses.

Umm... Okay, then you want to clear the other places too. Hows that?
Goatmen are more like animals so they are rather 'wild' than 'creepy', so no problem there.
If i would be a weak undead creature i would either lurk around in places already corrupted or hide during day (graveyard).
Zombies and skeletons not being able to corrupt a place doesnt mean they would walk around in sunny and happy places.
You may check my examples again. Pay attention that the zombies only walk around the entrance, and the skeletons around their master/summoner.
The dungeon is already pretty corrupted (well its full of cultists) so the place around the entrance could actually be corrupted, especially if there are also zombies.
And it doesnt really make sense that the skele summoner hangs around in such a sunny place if hes not powerful enaugh to alter the place for his 'liking'.
Hope that was clear.
Don't worry, it was. I can see where your going. Its one of those "what is it doing there" moments. I agree that the zombies don't fit very well. But hey, I can't think of a better way to begin corruption in Diablo. Fallen and zombies are the best way to begin corruption. When you know there are a few zombies lurking around, you know somethings up.
However, I'm sure that zombies being in the wrong place at the wrong time isn't your biggest concern right?
As long as the gameplay is good, I'm pretty sure you and me could live with zombies sitting in taverns.

Get on topic you fucking imbecile.
You read the definition and you still don't understand it, fucking imbecile.
Blizzard is not improving Diablo 3?
Where did you get that from? If Blizzard is not improving Diablo 3, it should be out by now.........

its pretty much like this =
But fans take note: The decision to add color to the macabre world of “Diablo” didn’t come lightly.
Sorry for the big one folks. Had to give my view on it again without swearing this time.
I have read the article before, and I praise your efforts to analyze it. However, this article does not cite that Blizzard has stopped improving Diablo 3.:D

And you shall stand that way my child, and you shall stand that way.

Firstly, Kenzai:

I hate to say it, but that's just more of you and me disagreeing because of our opinions.
I'm sure plenty of people will believe both of our arguments, but I suppose it's more of the "wait and see" game until we get more screens and videos.
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
I wish I had seen that quote before.
I need a towel.
It's time to welcome the other 80% of the color wheel to a Diablo game.
