Community Idea - Positive Monster Affixes
Blizzard is always looking for community feedback and ideas. A recent topic on the official forums has got a lot of attention over the last few days and it seems Blizzard has even been keeping on eye on it.
For those not familiar with the idea it's a way to encourage players to kill some of the harder monster affix combinations. It would do this by adding a fifth affix to a monster that has some form of positive benefit for the player once the pack is killed. Tensor has rounded up all the information from what is currently 6+ full topics of posts on the official forums. Check out his post on Diablofans to see all the information in one easy spot.
We’ll be performing maintenance on all Battle.net realms the morning of August 2 beginning at approximately 5:00 a.m. PDT. This maintenance will reset all Warcraft III ladder standings in each region, and we expect the maintenance to take approximately one hour. The Battle.net service is expected to return by 6:00 a.m. PDT, August 2.
USEast/Azeroth will remain down for approximately 12 hours, and during this time we'll be rolling Warcraft III clan data back to its state before the USEast migration on June 20, reinstating the wiped data.
Blue Posts
Blue posts have been a rare sight as of late. However a few have hit the forums to have a little fun! Though no game information is shared in these posts, keep in mind Bashiok confirmed they are hard at work on the blog posts.
Blizzard Kitty P.S. I vote that Vaeflare's cat > Crithto's dog! Vaeflare: You may also find it amusing that IRL I also have a cat. Specifically: a cat that I also bring to the office with me quite often. She walks on a leash, plays fetch, enjoys tricks, etc. and I like to joke that she’s the Blizzard community cat. So when I read this, I was momentarily confused if you meant her or me.
(As a bit of an aside: I had this avatar long before I adopted her.)
Zarhym: I can vouch for this. But it's disconcerting when we're in meetings and Vaeflare has a lap cat to stroke. Mascot or stereotypical villainy? You decide.
Is your cat not afraid of riding in the car? Mine can't handle it Vaeflare: She actually has a sort of skybox seat that fits into the passenger’s seat that she can sit/stand/lay in that her harness can be attached to, sort of like a feline seatbelt. I figured since I wanted to train her to travel with me to visit friends and family as well as to and from work that it was important she was as comfortable and “safe” as possible. She actually taught herself to wait by my passenger’s car door until the door is opened, and then jump into the car and take a few quick hops to properly situate herself up in the skybox. She then gives me this incredulous look that translates roughly to “will you hurry up and latch my harness so we can get going?” While she isn’t particularly keen on the sun beating-in on her, when she’s in the shade or it’s night time, she definitely digs her plush vantage-point into the crazy outside world. The unsuspecting people in drive-thrus get a kick out of it too.
She’s fairly high-energy at home and loves going on walks and playing fetch (more so even than any dog I know), but I’ve trained her so that car-rides and work-time are downtime for her to relax (and receive scritches from passing coworkers).
But it's disconcerting when we're in meetings and Vaeflare has a lap cat to stroke. Mascot or stereotypical villainy? You decide.
Possibly a bit of both. >_> Though it probably looks a fair-bit less villainous when we end up in a chilly meeting room and I offer-up my jacket to her so that she stays warm and I freeze. That seems backwards somehow… (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Treasure Goblin Haiku oh treasure goblin
what's inside that sack of yours seven blue quivers
I liked this one a lot. That would be quite precarious to carry such a pointy bag! (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Where to Farm and Playing Hardcore Vaeflare: I have indeed played Hardcore mode but have not yet made it to 60 (although I personally know others that have). Some of my favorite classes are the wizard, monk, and witch doctor, and I tend to rotate between them depending on what sort of mood I’m in. Sometimes it’s fun to stand back and Magic Missile opponents from afar, while other times I enjoy getting my hands dirty by changing it up and fighting up-close and personal with my monk.
I think she enjoys punching demons in the face a little too much… >_>
Crithto: I tend to have the most luck starting in the Fields of Slaughter, clearing the area and the dungeons, and then moving on up the bridge towards Siegebreaker. I end up with a nice 5 stack of nephalem valor, plenty of champions and elites, and a healthy amount of loot and gold. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
Siegebreakers
What about two Siegebreakers with arcane, vortex, mortar, and plague?
ran into 4 blues and a gold (with buddies) with this setup. it took a few deaths but eventually got it... it's just a painful painful process
Oh yes, I've certainly had this happen before, too. Sadly, when it has, it's thanks to a pesky treasure goblin that I'm trying to catch.(Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

I've been following all of those topics and it's nice to see some recognition. I know not every idea suggested by the community can justbe put into the game, but this is one that deserves some serious, SERIOUS consideration. Players should feel powerful and get some rewards beyond the crappy loot, and this is a good way to do both...of course, other issues need solving, too, BUT...that's for another topic. For this one...yep...definitely like it.
i love all the ideas, and i honestly believe that if blizzard starts using those affixes you guys came up with, they should cut you guys a check for doing their job for them.
