Character Profiles and D3 Web API Status Update on Monday
For those eagerly waiting for the Diablo III API, or for the characters profiles page, Straton has posted on the wow forums informing us that he will be posting the status of both on Monday.
Don’t miss the world premiere of the World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria opening cinematic at gamescom 2012! The latest creation from Blizzard’s cinematics team will be shown in both English and German on giant screens at our booth in Halle 6.1 (B21).
The opening cinematic will debut at 14:00 on Thursday, August 16, the first fully public day of gamescom. This much-anticipated unveiling will be accompanied by a performance from MANAO - Drums of China – the all-female Chinese drumming group that opened and closed the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. A signing session with Blizzard developers will immediately follow the premiere.
Remember that from August 15-19, our booth will also be showcasing World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, and Diablo III, as well as our famous dance and costume contests, and many other activities.
Visit our Activities page for details, and be sure to check back here soon for more on what we have in store for you at gamescom!
Hardcore - Average Character Lifespan of Only 6 Hours
Blizzard released an interesting statistic over on their facebook page saying the average character lifespan of a hardcore character was only 6 hours! With this in mind, how far have you made it in hardcore?
D3 HC: I have about 80 hours played on my first and only hardcore char (too lazy to check the exact number), I've killed belial and could probably do A3 pretty easily if I tried, but I quit hardcore because it is too simple-- I feel like I'm playing softcore with more defense stats and no rmah.
In reference to the contest: Have these items being given away already been checked for stats? (I mean, it's a give away so even if they have been, people can't really complain, I'm mostly just curious)

that would kill the point. they are 100% unidentified.
The contest is a cool idea and free loot is still freeloot, but IMO it's VERY little loot at all, like ~30 mins worth of farming for a geared person in a3. You might get lucky and hit the jackpot with the unid's but the crafting/gems are only worth about as much as 1 full repair. It would be nice if you bumped it up to ~100 mats, ~50 tomes, ~20 gems.

it may get bumped up as time goes on. We wanted to keep it at an avg amount for the time, as this is something that we have to farm every week for...well a long time. Increasing the limit later is much easier than reducing it =P
basically it's meant to just be a quick fun little thing to giveaway each week, giving someone the option to maybe get lucky.
