Now im going to go over the gear before i get into the spec, because mostly the spec relies on gear proc's in order to kill mobs efficiently:
Helm-Andariels Visage- Andy's helm is a very strong helm outside of the taking the more fire damage on torment5- and torment6 elite packs the proc itself does around 2 million damage, and can roll +lightning damage with dex/crit/ias, also there is a base poison resist on the helm, which is a plus if your a stacking resist poison monk. The reason i like this helm over an eye of the storm is the proc and the additional 2 million damage that you get which seems to have almost no Internal Cool down.
Other Helm- Eye of the Storm
Amulet-Moonlight Ward- Much like Andy's i use this item solely based off the +weapon damage %proc which hits for around 2.5.-3m which has virtually no Internal Cool down. This amulet is very hard to come by solely because its primarily a wizard item and therefore you need to reroll the int to crit damage or base dex on the neck but the purpose of this neck is solely based off the procs itself.
Other Amulet-Lightning Dmg, base dex roll, crit dmg, high crit chance
Shoulders/Bracers- I went with aughild's here for damage reduction on elite packs. I rolled the best stats i could get on the shoulders which is high dex/vit/plus stacking resist. I was hoping for health globe pickup but i wasnt as fortunate. The bracers you want light damage, dex, vit, crit 6% and stacking resist for a second resist.
Chest (Heart of the Crashing Wave)/Gloves(Fists of Thunder)/Boots (Eight-Demon Boots)- This your base lightning monk set which gives you 15% lightning damage. Ill go over each piece individually since each piece serves a particular purpose and the rolls i choose for each.
Chest (Heart of the Crashing Wave)- This is the easiest one much like the shoulders i went and rerolled the base cyclone strike to 3 sockets and was fortunate enough to roll lightning resist on the chest my stacking resist, but also got dex/vit/armor on the chest which is optimal for this build.
Gloves(Fists of Thunder)- Here i got high rolls on dex and vit and had reduce spirit of skills i re rolled that to crit damage, i chose to reroll that to crit damage, and would prefer to have the base vit here just for surviving the higher torments. Attack speed here could be made up in some of the later items ill describe like witching hour.
Boots(Eight-Demon Boots)- Dex/Vit/Movement Speed/LTK skill/Light Res- I got really lucky on the boots roll but those are the optimal stats, we are looking for on the boots.
Belt- Witching Hour- Heres where some of the attack speed can be made i went the witching hour here, most would say the belt lacks a lot of the survival stats, but once again i was lucky enough to roll lightning resist, and was able to roll vitality on the majorly useless main stat that was rolled on my witching hour
Sub Belt- Thundergods Vigor
Pants- Pox Faulds- I havent been able to test this item out but the proc seems very strong as it can roll up to 300% on the cloud that spawns. Ideal stats 2 sockets, stacking resist, dex vit.
Ring1-Stone of Jordan- Stone of Jordan is probably the best ring in the game due to the fact of the damage to elites +lightning skill damage, and you can reroll crit on the ring, all the stats necessary to clear high tiered rifts efficiently
Ring2- Ring of the Royal Grandeur- I like running the ring of the royal grandeur due to the sole fact, i can run the pox fauls when i get them in this gear spec. You can get a trifecta with a good roll of crit/crit dmg/average damage or attack speed
Sub Ring-Unity
Weapon1-Thunderfury- The most important stat on this item is the light base skilled weapon proc %, i havent been fortunate enough to get a high % proc on the three thunderfuries ive found but that is the most important stat, damage is always the most important stat to roll on this unless you have 1420+ than if you have a low dex roll, you can reroll the dex.
Weapon 2- Shard of Hate- Shard of hate has a very nice proc as the proc pretty much procs off your spirit regenator therefore the proc is very strong and makes this weapon a nice item, i like the shard of hate over odyn son because of the attack speed, but Odyn Son is sufficient in this slot.
Sub Weapon 2- Odyn Son
Support Monk Build (Team Play)-
Skill 1-Deadly Reach/Scattered Blows
Skill 2-Dashing Strike/Quicksilver
Skill 3-Exploding Palm/Flesh is Weak
Skill 4-Cyclone Strike/Eye of the Storm
Skill-5-Sweeping Strikes/Cyclone
Skill-6-Mantra of Conviction/Overawe
Speed Monk Clearing-
Support Monk Build (Team Play)-
Skill 1-Deadly Reach/Scattered Blows
Skill 2-Dashing Strike/Quicksilver
Skill 3-LTK (Scorption Sting)
Skill 4-Epiphany/Ascendance or Inner Fire
Skill-5-Sweeping Strikes/Cyclone
Skill-6-Mantra of Conviction/Overawe
Paragon Points(Importance based in order listed)
Tier 1 (Core)- Movement Speed to 13% or if you dont have it on Boots 25%- Rest in Dex, if you need more HP throw some in vit
Tier 2 (Offense)-attack speed, crit chance, crit dmg/cd red
Tier 3 (Defense)-resist all-armor-life regen-life%
Tier4 (Utility)- Area Damage-Life on Hit-Resource Cost-Gold Find
Also I like to keep a spare thunderfury with a diamond in it for elite packs and will do the same with my next shard of hate that i found for faster kill on the elites.
That is it for my guide, any questions post them here and i will get to them as i can.
Sorry, but there are many more interesting procs that people can use in "proc build". Build You presented is pretty much standard and you cant call it proc build. Here we go:
1.Firewalkers...
2. 200% Fan of Knives shoulders...
3. Hellfire ring...
4. Drain life ring...
5. Belt that explode on globes...
6...Many more
About gems: I did many tests on T4 and T5 difficulty comparing gems in weapons (130% crit damage vs 20% elites) and still undisputed champion of the world is Green Gem!!!
Azmodam kills on T4 averagish 3 sec faster with green gem, T5 averagish 5 sec faster with green gem.
Yes, I agree there is many other proc based items you can use but, these are the items that offer synergy with being a lightning monk while still getting a good bit of the "unique" procs.

Face the fact, you write about lightning monk build, like 20 other people in 20 other topics. I am 100% sure proc build can be much more unique and interesting.
I'll just kick in Death Watch Mantle, although often overlooked, apparantly has a 100% proc coefficient when it procs (up to 35% of the time); which means it applies all your LoH, all your stun effects (if Sledge.) and the like.
If you're going for proc effects, Gyana Na Kashu is stronger than Andy's Visage when using LTK even when you are setup for Lightning. Yes, even with the IAS and lightning damage %, even if the Andy's roll is perfect. Also, even a middling roll on GNK is stronger than a 30% Eye of the Storm.
Asheara's is interesting, fun and potentially powerful if your followers are geared. What's cool is you can put proc items on THEM(charm amulets, maximus, that axe that summons a fallen champion, etc., the hammer that deals % damage of max HP which is great in high torment) for lots of fun.
Also, at present, for sheer damage, Odyn Son + Shard of Hate is by far the strongest setup for lightning in terms of damage. TF does have a nice debuff, but I would never replace Shard of Hate as things currently are - I'd instead replace TF with Odyn Son.
