Quite frankly, I'm looking for some help. Diablo solo is boring as crap and public play isn't nearly as fun as playing LAN style with some friends, but I'm the only high(ish) level Hardcore character that any of us has. I want to be able to powerlevel everyone, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how. I powerleveled my wife to around level 15 on Rakkis bridge, but then a drake swoops out of nowhere and poof. We started over in a safer area (Act 1 woods) but that going is so slow that it's almost not even worth it. We've settled in a bit in the Kulle quest turn in (which they have nerfed but haven't fixed) but it's sooooo slow. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to powerlevel in hard core?
PS, did you know that everyone in the party gets exp for the lore from finding new monsters, even if they are in town? I ran through a couple areas in act 2 and 3 and everytime I killed a new monster that she hadn't killed yet, she got experience even in town. Leveling from 1-8 took about 10 mins tops.
Was doing some of this last night and ran into some of the same problems around keeping people alive.
What we found was working a bit better was trying to avoid areas where enemies are known to appear after the fact. Keep Depths 1 is a good bet, as there aren't many cases where you get random spawns (some ceiling drops but not many).
Act 3 is a lot more xp than act 1, so it's worth trying to figure it out if possible.
We didn't try this, but it could also be helpful to get to a moderate level and then just spend some gold on the AH to pick up armor/vitality. That way you aren't being 1 shot by random things giving a tiny bit of survival.
That was an awesome write up, thank you so much! I'll give it a whirl tonight hopefully and post some results and suggestions when I get a chance. I have to stress again the thing about the monster lore. It might save some time in the levels 1-10 range and then you should be able to pick up a lot of Vit equipment for some actual dungeon crawling.
Go full cooldown spec + Cain's + Ruby in helm + Leorics (if you can get it). Go down to the Armory where Leah is. Burn all cooldowns. Kill Shadows. Don't talk to anyone, just quit. Resume game. Each repeat is 15-20 second once you get the hang of it. Repeat until its taking longer than 10 minutes to get a level. Then get a friend to boost you to the next difficulty. Rinse and repeat. In a few hours you'll hit 60, depending on how long you can stand doing the same thing over and over.
If you hit the game creation limit, take a break or just clear Keeps lvl 2.
You'll hate yourself for it, but its still the easiest way to power level.

Good luck!
Or does the party mechanic work differently?
