In all seriousness... worst game of all time was Superman 64... and it was actually classified as the worst game of all time by ... just about every gaming magazine (even PSM had an article about it.)
But as far as personal opinion goes... I'd have to say Final Fantasy VIII. The soundtrack was amazing, and so was the card game... but the main character was so bloody introverted and borderline emo, I couldn't really find any love for the characters... in fact, I couldn't find a single character I liked... save maybe Quistis.
I've heard of SUperman 64's failure several times but never bothered to play it myself(not a big DC fan outside of some Batman movies and cartoons).
I remember really liking FF8 when I first played it but when I replayed it a couple years ago the characters really were annoying. Squall, Irvine and Rinoa were particularly irritating for me. The story for 8 really wasn't very good, though I didn't mind the junction/draw system that much and the game did have some good points to it. The more I play FF games, the more strongly I feel that the NES and SNES titles were the best of the series. 4 is still my favorite, 1,5 and 6 were all excellent too.
You know, while 4 was great.... I didn't find it as enjoyable as 5 and 6.... 6 being my favorite of its kind (I don't count Tactics... because I practically deify it in my mind)

Hellgate london wasnt really that bad IMO. My bro bought it,played it for a while, tossed it aside and i took the CD. I tried it out, and it wasnt really that bad..
But still one of the worst games ive ever played so far is Maplestory. Yea,i actually tried out that game cuz literally everyone was playing it. The moment i logged in and stepped into the training area, I was like, what the fuck? What kind of game is this?! I still wanted to try it out for a bit cuz maybe i thought it wouldnt really be that bad. But still no. I got pissed off after i kept dieing to a bunch of snails and all you could do was to move left or right or jump.
Well thats just what i think. If your a maplestory fan reading this then... no hard feelings
Luigi's missing on snes, horrible game I rented it when I was a kid and had nightmares because of how boring that game was and I was all excited when I saw it on the shelf.
It wasn't one of the worst or anything, but one massive disappointment for me was Bloody Roar 4. I absolutely loved 1-3 and they are still, in my opinion, the best fighting games out there.
I was so excited for number 4 but then the gameplay was garbage because of a bunch of changes they made, especially how the health/beast bars worked. I really liked a character they added, the graphics were nice and they actually had some blood in it(not a big deal but 2 and 3 had just about none despite the title) but one good character and some aesthetics are pretty meaningless when the general gameplay is ruined.
Try the demo, it's awesome and has the coolest story ever. The controls are amazingly intuitive and the AI is perfect. The horse boss was tough. People say Bad Company 2 is supposed to give Modern Warfare 2 a run for it's money, but I say Close range shoots them both in the face...AT CLOSE RANGE

And for a bit of sarcasm:
Of course, one game that will never be on a list like this is Close Range:
