64 years ago today... the invasion of Normandy began! In the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, Americans received word that three years of concerted war efforts had finally culminated in D-day, military jargon for the undisclosed time of a planned British, American, and Canadian action. During the night, over 5,300 ships and 11,000 planes had crossed the English Channel and landed on the beaches of Normandy. The goal of every soldier and civilian involved in that effort was to drive the German military back to Berlin by opening a western front in Europe.

We should have listened to Winston Churchill when he said we need to stop fighting machine guns with the chests of men.
So many friends so many bodies.. (ok that last line is actually a quote from Farhnam in Diablo.)
But then again, what would the world be like had D-Day not happened? I remember watching some special thing on it one time, and I think it mentioned something about it almost not happening.
Not quite the same as in Red Alert 2 wherein the USA developed a chronosphere (a time machine), and uses it to go bak in time and kidnap Hitler before his ascension to power, thus effectively altering the course of History, by pretty much making it so World War II never happened. Or at least not like it did.
Anyone going to the Normandy beach this year? There is usually some service thing held at Normandy. I think I might like to go one year, to see where it was that so many lots their lives in the service of the countries.
This day also happens to be the 6th day of the 6th month. Bewary of any man (or woman) born at 6am this day.
6am on the 6th day of the 6th month, would be an awesome date to release a game in the diablo series. Sure, there is no real reference, homage, parody or tribute of the Antichrist or by extension the Omen in Diablo, it's still a cool date.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

sometimes beginnings aren't so simple, sometimes goodbye's the only way."
